When I made the reservations at Roka Akor, I added that it was our 5 year anniversary and they sent us a surprise dessert with "Happy 5th Anniversary" written on the plate. Not only was the food amazing, but the service was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and thoughtful to even make sure once the good was brought out that he double checked w the chef to make sure it was made properly. Dinner companion not a huge sushi fan, so the few rolls we ordered she found to be good, not great. We ordered several small dishes to share rather than steak. We had the butterfish appetizer, the scallops, the lime/chili fried squid, some Maki rolls, the spicy cod, and the crispy brussel sprouts. All great, but the brussel sprouts were absolutely divine. A bit of an indulgence at $135 for 2 people (NOT including tax & tip) but $35 of that was from the bar (2 cocktails & 2 beers). Attentive service - the server took control of the order of the dishes. It was our anniversary, and we indicated so on our reservation, and they gave us a nice table by the window and a complemetary green tea mousse dessert, that was tasty and different. The food was outstanding, the service impeccable, even from others besides our server. The location was good and the ambiance was very pleasing. The chef even sent two sets of rolls to our table, compliments of him--nice touch! They also worked with me on my gluten-free and vegetarian dietary restrictions and my dinner was delicious, down to my martini with gluten-free vodka! I love the decor and the vibe in this place. The clientele seemed to be mostly the after-work crowd. We had great service and the special tasting menu. Our server did a wine and sake pairing that was really spectacular and gave us a wide range of different sakes. For my birthday, I planned a large dinner at the Chef's table on a Saturday night. The service was not as good but the restaurant was extremely busy and my guests did not seem to mind. The food, again, was excellent and everyone, even the unadventurous enjoyed their meals.
