There was not much good to say about dining here. It seemed like a chain restuarant going through the motions. The noise was thunka thunka disco. There was no tofu on the menu as a dish and we told that they didn't have any tofu they can grill and did not offer any cold tofu. The unagi was greasy and small. Not recommended. Our miso soup did not arrive until after we asked when the meal was almost over.

We arrived half an hour before the scheduled, and waited at the bar. We were three persons and got two chairs, ordered three beers. our table was not ready at the appointed time, and we were surprised by the staff, who rudely told that as we were not consuming much he wanted a chair of ours, for a client who had just arrived. we were still waiting to be seated!

We really loved the food and especially the steaks. It was great for us because the beef they use is by coincidence Halal Certified beef so as a Muslim it was beef that I could eat. The manager made sure to have our steaks cooked on a separate grill were no pork or any other non-Halal certified meats were cooked on which I thought was something very kind of him to accommodate. Overall it was a great experience and will definitely be back to enjoy one of the best steaks I've had.

After running the Chicago marathon, we were looking for a wonderful celebratory meal. And we were craving sushi. We are still talking about our incredible meal and how outstanding it was from start to finish. The sushi was out of this world. In fact, everything on the menu was so enjoyable. Our server had many great recommendations and was genuinely excited to give us his recommendations based on what he really enjoyed. And they were all spot on. My only issue with Roka Akor is the design of the dining area. It is just all wide open and provides no sense of privacy at all. It's very trendy and stylish but just feels a little like a cafeteria. But that is a minor issue and the food is the real star.

I went to Roka Ankor last sunday. Menu was very nice. We ordered a couple of Tatars, a chicken Skewer, robata Skirt steak and brussel sprouts. Everything was delicious, specially the brussel sprouts except for the chicken. It was overcooked and dry. We called the waiter and complained but nothing happened unfortunately. Beautiful place. A bit more expensive than expected.

My friends and I went here for a girls night, and this was such a great place for such an outing. Our waitress was fantastic and was very attentive. She also paid attention to my note that I was vegetarian, and she made sure that I received a complementary dish from the chef in line with my dietary restriction. She also ensured that we had a great time throughout dinner, checking in periodically (but not excessively). I would definitely recommend this place!

Sorry to say I won't be going here again. The food is good but the service is inadequate and so frenetic I just couldn't relax. Our waiter acted so stressed and was so adamant about multi-tasking and letting you know it. I just wanted to eat and leave. No fun! There's plenty of good sushi elsewhere!

Roka is a great place for sushi. If you aren't sure what you want, you can just let the chef decide for you and he'll pick five different courses for you based on a few questions. We haven't ever done this option as I know what I want when we come in. A must try is the cod! It melts in your mouth! We decided on desert this trip and were not disappointed. Although it sounded weird, the green tea custard is a not to miss!

Everyone who works at the restaurant is attentive to all your needs and the bussers always clearing the table and bringing new utensils. We were a group of six and ordered everything - martinis, sake, scotch, appetizers, sushi rolls, sashimi, wagyu - American and Japanese A5. Everything was absolutely delicious. I could not believe I had not been there before. It was unique - not your average/typical sushi restaurant. No wonder ROKA AKOR has been voted one of the best sushi restaurants in the US! Would definitely go back. It is a little loud - so don't expect an intimate conversation - but do expect to be WOWED by the food. Our server was excellent and very knowledgeable!

The Asian cuisine at Roka Akor is simply outstanding. Probably the best sashimi we have ever had. And the service is friendly and ultra-attentive. The interior is really nice - I almost checked "scenic view" because the art over the grill has such a great effect on the whole space. When there were few diners, you could feel the energy; when there were many, there was still ample room and no one is on top of you. Will be back.

Roka Akor is a great place. It has a great selection of asian dishes but it's main focus and gem is it's robata grill. Their sushi is top notch and delicious. However, if you're going with your significant other, be prepared for a hefty bill. Definitely a once-and-a-while type of place, if you're trying to not break the bank because going there and ordering on the cheaper side will not due the quality restaurant or your experience any justice.

This is a great place for sushi and Robata. They have seafood and meat items. The robota grill is an excellent option for those who do not like Sushi. There is a nice meeting area in the back or larger groups. The sushi is very good. I prefer the medium fatty tuna over the fatty tuna. The hamachi sashimi platter is quiet the treat. This is an expensive place. The wagyu beef sampling is great but costly.

We enjoy Chicago and all that it has to offer. We picked this restaurant because of the high end Asian offerings. We discovered when we got there that they offered a "sampler menu" and we got very excited because we love this way of discovering a new restaurant. The food was very good but the portions were normal size portions. I quickly realized the difference between a "tasting menu" and a " sampler menu". It was a huge amount of food! I suppose if you are not opposed to taking left-overs, it would be a great idea!

Booked Roka Akor because of reviews and availability of dinner for two celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary and location across from our Hotel in River North area of Chicago. But wow! The special chef's selection Omikasi dinner was wonderful and although we had questions about the actual items, our server was very patient with us in describing each course without giving away the Chef's secrets that make this type of Japanese fusion cuisine so exciting. From the beginning to end, each course was beautifully presented and exquisite in taste. Perfect place to get introduced to a new type of Japanese cuisine and to celebrate a special occasion.
