A word from Rojo Mexican Grill - St. Louis Park
Rojo Mexican Grill serves new culinary creations and many traditional dishes, such as quesadillas, tacos and enchiladas, but with bold new flavors or in unique presentations. Ingredients, such as the tortillas, guacamole, and salsas, are made fresh from scratch each day. And Rojo uses special proprietary blends of Mexican spices to create the unique recipes.
The stylish restaurant seats more than 280 guests and was designed to evoke traditional Mexican décor, but with a modern influence. Warm woods and soft red upholstery are offset by accents of leather, stone and steel. The dining room offers traditional table service and a generous view of the kitchen where diners can watch food prepared throughout the process. Three centrally located tables are dedicated to preparing hand-rolled tortillas, fresh guacamole and salsa in full view each day.

  • "beautiful day lunch on the patio great food lots of fun !!!"

  • "Rather pedestrian Mexican food. Nothing you wouldn't make at home. I tried the Chicken Tacos. Grilled chicken with some pico de gallo, avocado and some white sauce on small soft flour tortillas. Fairly bland with nothing to recommend them. The Cadillac Rojo Marguerita, however, was quite tasty. With so many fine small Mexican restaurants in TC I would have no reason to return."

  • "We came here to make arrangements for our sons wedding rehearsal dinner. We got to sample all of the food we will be serving. Tried the corn on the cob for the first time and it is amazing. The person assisting us was great. She made suggestions and then left us alone to discuss what we wanted to do. We are doing a fajita bar! Can't wait for the wedding in September."

  • "Had a reservation for a group of 8, showed up to an empty restaurant, but still had to wait for our table to be set up. And yes, we were on time, though why that would matter in an empty restaurant..."

  • "The in-house salsa and the habanero queso appetizer that we ordered was really great. I used to live in Texas and these appetizers will be considered pretty good, if not "outta park" down there also. But I ordered chicken tacos and the tacos were served on tiny flour tortillas, and both beans and "sweet" rice (which was indeed sweet) were all meh... So I'll come back for appetizers and snacks but perhaps not for a meal. "

  • "Quite disappointed in our experience. We were celebrating our 25th anniversary with a few beverages and light appetizers. Beautiful day, decided to sit outside. Tables are first come, first serve outside, so we grabbed 1 that was dirty. Took 15 minutes to be acknowledged and we had to ask for it to be cleaned. Another 10 minutes until we were able to place a drink order and again had to flag someone down to place food order. Food was lukewarm at best. Check this location off my list to try again, which is too bad. Love to dine outside, but NOT here. "

  • "Food is great! It was a bit noisy for visiting with folks I hadn't seen for a while."

  • "Great Happy Hour food and beverage prices. We split some quesdillas and they were excellent. So were the margaritas."

  • "My husband and I had a chance to make last-minute dinner plans, and he has wanted to try Rojo for a while (after my raving reviews), so the only reservation available was 4:30. We decided to grab it and plan an early dinner. The skinny margarita is one of the best I've tried in the metro area and I love the shrimp tacos and fish tacos. However, our service was rushed like they were anxious to clear us out for the next reservation. After 2 margaritas and dinner, we were out of there in 45 minutes. "

  • "overall vibe was good and the margarita with corona beer on side was a fun touch but the food seemed a little bland and uninteresting for Mexican"

  • "This was my 4th visit to Rojo, and every experience tends to be a little less positive than the previous. We got the fancy guac, which as far as I could tell was Holy Guacamole with a bunch of fruits, cheese, and nuts sprinkled on top which we then had to mix together. Bland and disappointing. We received a recommendation from the waiter to try the Tortilla Chicken, so my dining mate and I both ordered it. It came and was a pretty blah chicken breast, covered in extremely salty sauces that didn't really make sense together. Even the rice/corn, which is my favorite thing at this restaurant, wasn't as delicious as in previous visits. Overall this visit was tremendously underwhelming, and for $60 for lunch for two, it was totally not worth it."

  • "We enjoy the interesting food choices. Our favorites are the avocado egg rolls, tacos, and enchiladas with green sauce. So glad this is in our neighborhood."

  • "Vibrant energy, persistent server (we delayed her getting our food and drinks to the table due to our talking), solid menu, good tasting food. Overall an nice place with groups of friends."

  • "Perfect spot for a cosy lunch on a very cold day. Then an easy walk to the Icon theatre."

  • "I got the quesadilla off of the appetizer menu - it is definitely enough for one person... I had some leftovers to take home! The chips and salsa are really good here, the chips come out warm. Sitting by the windows in the winter is not the best idea, it was super chilly and almost to the point of uncomfortable. If I go again in the winter, I would sit in the dining area, not the bar."

  • "I have been to Rojo a few times, and I feel that the service has been mediocre. The waiter dropped drinks off and walked away before we could even say anything, not allowing us to order our food - we had to ask him if we could order. He seemed very distracted and not happy to be there. As I was going to Rojo this evening my husband asked if this was the place with bad service, and I couldn't recall, but afterwards I felt like it was safe to say he remembered it correctly. With all of the other choices in the WestEnd, I don't think I'll be back."

  • "Really enjoyed my tacos carnitas at Rojo! The service was attentive, particularly when I noted that my dining companion and I were on a tight schedule."

  • "RoJo has a good vibe and is a great place for meeting for a drink, dinner date, meeting a friend, or even the place to meet up and 'pre-game' the evening."

  • "We went on New Year's Eve. Tried to make a 5:00 reservation we were told they were full so we made a 4:30 reservation on line. They were not very busy when we arrived (maybe 25% full) and yet our server was slow to get our orders taken, served and the check to us when we were done. She seemed to be spending the majority of her time flirting with the waiters and other staff. When we left at 5:45 (we were there for over an hour because our sever was "busy") the restaurant was still only about 25% full. Still not sure why we couldn't get a 5:00 reservation. The food was at best fair. We will not be back."

  • "Very fun and relaxed place to enjoy appetizers and catch up with friends! We were there for 2 1/2 hours and ordered a bunch of different appetizers...but they always kept those chips coming :) Our waiter was attentive, but was not overbearing which was much appreciated. The margaritas are also fantastic!"

  • "Everything was great except for the urgency to clear our table. Anybody who is clearing a plate should make sure the customer is done. My husband had a few bites left and someone came by and just grabbed his plate without even asking if he was done."

  • "Good spot at WestEnd to grab a quick bite for lunch. Two coronas, some nachos and a carnita tacos-$40. If your guy is 250 lbs + make sure he knows the serving sizes are small, this isn't 6 pack and a pound place to pack it down."

  • "We really enjoy this interpretation of Mexican food. The avocado egg rolls are especially tasty and different. The sticky rice side dish is also very good. We are very happy to have this restaurant in our neighborhood. I don't usually like margarita's but I always order the Rojo version because it taste so good. We will definitely return."

  • "Part of me doesn't want to like a chain restaurant, particularly an ethnic one. Shouldn't a sweet little Mexican grandma and grandpa be in the kitchen stirring the mole' sauce? But I can't help it -- the food is consistently super fresh tasting, nicely plated, and reasonably priced. Whatever you do, do NOT forget to order the Strawberry Jalapeno margarita. It is a MUST! Enjoy!"

  • "Met two friends for happy hour before a movie and this was the perfect spot. Food and drink were excellent , wonderful service, energetic vibe made for a great get together. I can highly recommend the fish tacos and the sangria. Quesadilla was one of the best I have ever had - the cheese blend was very tasty. One in my party had been there before a time or two and recommended it and it was a great spot-will definitely return."

  • "Our server was energetic, but appropriate, providing her input when necessary. The Southwest Caesar with Carne Asada, was great, as usual. The meat had a greater-than-usual kick (spicy) but it was well received. We'll continue to be returning customers."
