ROGUE 24 is a 52-seat urban restaurant. Nouveau American cuisine. Anticipate 3 hours for dining experience. Under the creative vision and direction of James Beard Award Winner Chef/Owner RJ Cooper, guests will experience a series of whimsical, playful dishes paired with our cutting edge beverage program. Please inform us within 72 hours prior to reservation date with exact allergies and dietary restrictions. We can accommodate vegan diets with 7 days notice, BUT THERE IS A STRICT 7 DAY CANCELATION POLICY DUE TO THE NATURE AND SPECIFICITY A VEGAN MENU.

SpiritsBar at Rogue 24 is an interactive 4 stool cocktail collaboration between Chef/Owner RJ Cooper and Chef-Tender Bryan Tetorakis. Experience the 4x4, 4 cocktails/4 bites of modern cocktails and bar bites. Anticipate dining experience at the bar to be 1.5 hours.

  • "I would say Rogue 24 is in the Ferran Adria school, but less elaborate and gimmicky than Minibar. We had the 10-course jaunt, and it was truly a memorable meal. Each plate was an interesting combination of flavors and an adventure. You should not go expecting large portions, because the point is not to fill yourself up, but to experience what the chef is putting in front of you. Having said that, I left feeling quite full. The wine pairing was excellent. The cocktails are first rate. The plating deserves special mention--each plate itself, and the arrangement of food on the plate, was really a work of art."

  • "Worst dinning experiences of my life. Made a reservation but we're seated 20 minutes late at a table that was available from the moment we walked through the door. It took over 4 hours to get all 24 courses of the meal. We could've finished a game of Monopoly faster. While most of the dishes were good (ish) the servings were so incredibly small that we were all still hungry afterwards. Their tag line should read, Rogue 24 come hungry, leave hungry. They added sparkling water to our still water multiple times. AND all of this set us back over $600 (for four people) even after the 10 percent off they offered after they asked if we had a good experience and I answered honestly. #comehungryleavehungry #stopaddingsparklingwatertomystillwater"

  • "Some of the most creative and unexpected dishes I have ever eaten. We were seated right next to the open kitchen and had a great view of the goings on. The three of us were sitting at a table for four -- and much to our surprise, Chef R J Cooper spent a lot of time sitting with us. He even added a dish to our tasting that was not on the menu -- a white shrimp tartare. Delicious. He said he'd be adding it to the menu the following evening. And he got my wife to eat -- and like!! -- an oyster. Unbelievable! For me, the entire experience -- food, atmosphere, cocktails, the chance to interact with Chef Cooper -- made this a truly unforgettable meal."

  • "I will definitely be returning to Rogue24! I have never had such exceptional service! We had visited a similar restaurant in Barcelona (Comerc24), and we were excited to find something as fabulous near our home! If you are looking for a hamburger and french fries, don't go here…you won't find it on the menu. If you are looking for a culinary adventure, please go! We chose the "Jaunt" menu, which included 10 courses (all of them are small plates), and we left very full! Both of us were almost at the point of wanting to lick the plate clean, because the flavors were so good! Chef Cooper is amazing and was so attentive to all of his guests! It is like eating inside the Iron Chef Kitchen Stadium! Magic happens in this place!"

  • "The food at Rogue 24 is inventive and a surprise. But, beware of wine pricing. Wine pairings did not seem to been given much thought as to why or what. Overall, a nice experience with one BIG exception. My dining partner ordered a single glass of wine (got the same red as in my pairing and it was $35! Ridiculous and shamefully overpriced. A class act restaurant should not stoop to this -- no reason for such a cost (not that special) and no warning (because no wine list) that one (smallish, at that) glass would cost almost half of the prix fixe dinner price. Also, back alley location and no valet parking (during the week) is a bit of a challenge."

  • "Rogue 24 is not for everyone. Our dinner there lasted over three hours, entailed 24 courses, took over three hours, and featured a tip from the chef-owner who, after setting in front of us some chopped snail bits on a leaf, advised us to "roll it like a joint." Many of the dishes at Rogue 24 feature components or preparations that are variously obscure, counterintuitive, or even downright unappetizing (puffs with "government cheese"). Yet every single dish we had was successful -- no extraneous ingredients or clashing flavors. And many of the dishes succeeded spectacularly. For those interested in food, the unique preparations, the dining space that also serves as the kitchen, and a highly capable staff make for a memorable evening."

  • "We had a fantastic night at Rogue 24. It's not just dinner, it's an experience. We did the 24 course journey and each was delicious. My husband isn't very adventurous with food so they started him out with a shot of whiskey and dared him to eat every course. He did, and he had fun doing it. The whole place is very interactive and Chef Cooper walks around checking on the tables and chatting everyone up in between expediting food. In addition to the tasty and unique dishes, there are also tasty and unique drinks. So many to try that we skipped the wine and worked our way through the cocktail menu. The service was great and everyone really seemed to have fun. I'm eager to go back again."

  • "I was prepared for an adventure here: I had heard the food was very experimental but delicious, so I thought it would be a good spot for a longer meal while catching up with my Dad. I expected the establishment to attract some unpleasant food snobs, but I was very pleasantly surprised to see a variety of guests, and did not feel out of place at all. The service was a little odd, as the waiter was not friendly but the serving staff was helpful, polite and cheerful. The wine pairing was spot-on, and definitely worth it. Only one of the ten courses did not resonate with me - the rest were delectable. The chef RJ also came over to chat for awhile, which made our experience very personalized and special. I definitely plan on returning."

  • "Food was very good, though a few of the plates were so-so. Cocktails were excellent. And service was very attentive. However, the pacing of the meal was much to face. We ordered the 10 course menu and the first plate arrived before our cocktails did. (We would have preferred to linger over our cocktails a bit.) There was no "break" before the dessert plates began arriving. We didn't get a chance to order coffee. We were in and out in 90 minutes. The place has great potential but they should work on the pacing."

  • "The food was inventive and left us craving for bigger bites but the 10 course tasting was enough to satisfy our hunger. overall the service was acceptable, although one in our group found a hair in her dish and while the host acknowledge and apologized, for a place of this caliber, I was expecting a little bit more in response. And while the food met our expectations, the interior was a feast for the eyes, that one service flub ruined it."

  • "A terrific evening. Tricky to find the front door, but once you're inside, it's a different world. Great ambiance, good lighting, sound level manageable, comfortable seating. Table for two a little wide, so there was a lot of leaning over to hear the other person. We chose the smaller menu, and were still there 2 1/2 hours later. Time flew by. Cooking and final prep done in the center of the restaurant. Chef hands on every dish that goes out. Creative use of herbs, salts and spices. Cheese-filled meringue. Marigold-crusted white asparagus. Serving plates of brick and slate. New utensils at every course. It was a meal full of taste sensations. Service is impeccable. Tremendous staff. And a wonderful value for the money. We will go back."

  • "Having dined in the top restaurants in the world, finding a restaurant as good as Rogue 24 in Washington DC is a gift from heaven. The 24 course dinner amazes and thrills. The true artistry of the food and service impress; almost like visiting a great contemporary art museum...except for food. It is not about the show, such as Alinea, or about reputation like the Inn at Little Washington or the French Laundry, it is all about the artistry of a food genius, much more along the lines of Noma. If there is one restaurant to experience in DC it is Rouge 24."

  • "I tried the 24 courses and wine pairing when I visited. Each course was ab opportunity to explore old favorite or an ingredient I had tried before. I really enjoyed the scallops, lemon zest, and microflowers; the squab leg was the best squab I've eaten. Service was seamless and efficient. The staff worked well as a team and was knowledgeable about the components of each dish Stuart, Rogue24's sommelier has a keen nose and great palate - the beverages he selected to pair with the dishes highliihtedthe subtle nuances of the dishes. At the end of the evening I received a print of the dishes I ate. Rogue 24 is near the Convention Center metro stop. Neraby parkiing can be dificult to secure."

  • "We went and were expecting a unique experience, and we got it! We opted for the 10-course menu fearing it being a bit overwhelming, but with the portion sizes, we wish we had done the 24. It was still very enjoyable, and we did do the supplement (they were serving a Wagyu beef course...), which was amazing!! Worth ever penny for a foodie. Excellent job, Rogue 24. This is definitely on my list for return visits!!"

For the cost of a moderate dinner and a play, you get both and more. Two days later, we still peruse the menu provided at the end of the "dinner", we comment on the food, the decor; we speculate on the thought process that the designers of this establishment must have had and debate the success of bringing this (supposed) process to their clientele. I look forward to introducing friends to Rogue 24 in the future. Everything about this place begs you to not review it in any typical way. What an enjoyable evening!"

  • "We've now been twice and been blown away both times. While 24 courses sounds insane, each course is bite sized and eaten over many hours. It is foodie heaven. The amount of work and thought that goes into each bite is stunning, we were laughing that one ingredient in one dish was probably the result of 2 days of work. The result of the effort is clear - each bite is almost perfect and possibly some of the most complex/interesting food you've ever had. On this recent trip, some of the stand out were a smoked roe and duck mousse with caramelized onions served in an egg shell, doughnuts stuffed with pork (think Chinese bao), lamb neck (who knew anything could be that tender?), swordfish belly done with blood oranges and fennel, etc."

Cooper is a creative chef with a perfect sense of how to balance flavors in a dish. Nothing is under-cooked or over-cooked. Nothing is under-salted or over-salted. Such perfection is rare. But this restaurant is not well located, and I fear for its longevity. Run to this restaurant as fast as you can and order the 24-course menu while it still exists. It is expensive, but you won't be sorry. Foodies will find this one of the most memorable culinary experiences."

  • "Our party of four enjoyed the Journey on March 1, 2014. If you decide to do the Journey, 24 "courses" with spirits pairing be sure to have a designated driver or plan on a taxi ride home. Unlike other establishments we have been to before, if your glass gets low or empty it does not sit empty for long, they refill your glass. There is also a non-alcohol pairing available for your DD, which happened to be my husband. Our reservation was at 9:30 p.m. and we did not leave until well after 12:30. There wasn't much of wait between courses. There is just enough time to enjoy and savor what you are eating, with a time to get ready for the next dish. The atmosphere and ambiance was very comfortable. The staff was friendly and attentive."

Even though there was one dish that was not to me and my partners liking the Chef came to us with explosive charisma and asked us, "How can I turn that facial expression into a smile." He noticed that one of us had not eaten the dish which prompted the conversation of providing us with another course that was more to our liking. He then sent over his signature doughnuts which were absolutely amazing. As my partner said, "It was so incredible that it changed his life." For this occasion of a nice quiet intimate night out I loved how the ambiance felt exclusive with only a few diners. Although the red was somewhat light for us, the wines were amazing"

  • "There are so many pluses to Rogue 24 and the fact that it's in Blagden Alley is one of the biggest. Blagden Alley is one of the restored historic alleys in DC. It brings historic charm and feels the most like NYC in DC. Rogue 24 is amazing. The interior is this classicly rugged brick building. The food comes in smaller portions but is so unique. My wife loved every bit of it. I am not one for fancy food (like salted air and pink pepper), but they had "normal" options for me that were out of this world. The best part was the cocktails. You cannot go wrong. I had the bar tender make me something sweet with vodka and he made me a berry cobbler cocktail that actually tasted like berry cobbler. So good!"

  • "I will start out by saying that the service was fantastic. The ambiance of the restaurant was also warm and interesting - the kitchen is open and in the middle of the dining room. The food, however, was simply not very good. Given the 24-course tasting menu, I was by no means expecting to enjoy every bite. That would be an impossible feat for any chef because of the varying preferences of each customer. At the end of the meal, I could point to two-three courses that I enjoyed, four- five that I chose not to finish, and the rest were mediocre. Not a single dish made me go "wow." When I spend $600 on a dinner (for two), I expect more. In the 11 years I've been living in DC, I've never been more let down. I wouldn't eat here again for $60."

  • "Rogue 24 is an extremely polarizing restaurant. Very concept oriented with the foams, gelees, powders, and raw foods. I understand why this restaurant gets as many 5 stars as 1 star reviews. Took my wife for her birthday (she was very disappointed). The food is wildly imaginative, but eating the food overwhelms the palate. Great for a few plates, but ultimately an unbalanced meal."

  • "Delicious food, beautifully plated. Very interesting with the kitchen in the middle and tables well-spaced all around. We had the 10 course tasting not the 24 course. Primarily small plates which some people can't contend with. Preparation is overseen by the attentive Chef Cooper the plates are beautiful and delicious. The wait staff is extraordinarily well trained. One problem: I know what to expect from a small-plates tasting menu. I experienced many of these over the years. This was the first time, however, that I've left a restaurant and walked directly to another restaurant and ordered more food! For $70 per person for the 10 course, I really didn't expect to leave hungry! That makes this a poor value restaurant, in my opinion."

  • "very promising when reservations were made. Chef assured he can work with cretin food restrictions. Confirming reservations with the restrictions by host, nice work. But when we got to the dinning room the chef approached the table and was less the welcoming with restriction making us feel as we are a burden on his evening. Fine with no accommodations but do not take the reservations !!! Poor showing from the chef all night as open stage kitchen and he seem to insult he staff verbally and openly in front of us. Never to return on my list. Chef has major ego issue to resolve. Other staff was nice and accommodating."
