  • "We've lived in the area for over 20 years and never found a reason to go to the Rodger Sherman Inn, the topic came up while having dinner at another restaurant and decided to make a date. I'll start with "We'll be back"..the food, service and the ambiance were fantastic. We tried the pan seared Filet Mignon with a baked stuffed potato (to die for), and the Grouper perfectly cooked . A bit pricy but worth the experience. I will recommend this restaurant and be back very soon."

  • "I hate writing this for a place that serves fabulous food, but no way will we go back there. Apparently, it's a bad idea to reserve a table for 2. Or maybe we should not have worn jeans. It is Friday, guys. The website didn't say "jackets required." We were tucked, no, hidden, in a corner, out of sight. When the party of five sat at the table near us, I was blocked in. That group took all of the server's attention. It took forever to get my soup, and when finally delivered, it scalded my tongue. Overall, the pacing was atrocious, and it was made more frustrating by the people at the next table having everything brought to them in a timely fashion. The entrees were sublime, but I can go to better places and be served properly. Thank you."

  • "This was our first visit to the restaurant on the day after valentines day. We chose the Sat versus Friday night expecting their regular menu however it was a special menu instead and it was not communicated in advance. Although disappointed at first as well as many other patrons complaining, we were pleasantly surprised by the excellent meal we ordered. The setting is very warm and inviting and quite romantic. We did find the crowd to be a mix of couples, young however mostly older generation. The restaurant is quite pricey, so it is not for those that want to save a buck"

  • "We live near the Roger Sherman but have not gone in years. Quelle erreur! We chose it as our living room and entertained guests there on a Saturday night. A great choice. We will do it again. Also, we are vegan and they were very accommodating. No problem. Chef did a great job."

  • "I was here for a New Years Eve dinner. The special menu offered was great. The atmosphere was quiet and upscale. There were three servers either bussing food, refilling drinks or taking our order. This is an 'old school' Inn with valet parking (except the valet drivers could not drive standard). Not a cheap dinner but a memorable one."

  • "Had Christmas Day dinner here. Very excited after hearing such good things, but turned out to be a real let down. Service was VERY slow, our waiter could not answer any of our questions about the menu (no knowledge of certain ingredients or how food was prepared) and was unattentive in general. Food was just OK (despite the reputation) and even with a $75 prix fixe for only 3 courses (app/main course/dessert), we were charged an additional $4 for a decaf coffee at dessert which I found astounding at this price point. A beautiful venue, but overall a very disappointing experience. One more thing - If you do go and it's winter, ask to be seated away from the door. We also froze the entire meal from the door opening and closing."

  • "We had a lovely and delicious dinner on a busy weekend night. The inn is decorated beautifully for the holiday season, and truly provides a historic New England atmosphere. Service was friendly, efficient and professional. Appetizers of salmon and escargot were very good. The traditional steak frites was prepared perfectly, juicy and tasty with crispy fries on the side. The lamb was good, though not great as it was slightly overcooked. Desserts were wonderful - we had the chocolate cake, which was a small round cake with a crusty outside and rich, moist interior, served in a martini glass over ice cream. Profiteroles were outstanding - small round pastry shells filled with ice cream with freshly warmed chocolate sauce poured over the top."

  • "For Thanksgiving Dinner, the ambience of New England was well-invoked, with reservations honored with only a short wait despite being at capacity in attendance. In terms of food, the quality was far superior to any other prix fixe holiday dinner experienced else where in a long, long time. Yes, the cost is a premium price ($65) with a very limited menu and very high prices for alcoholic beverages by the glass ($12 for house wine, but coffee included in $65). However, if you have to dine out on a holiday and can afford $100 per person including beverages, tax and tip, it is a top location to consider."

  • "we went for our anniversary, we were looking for a nice location. We requested a quiet table not in the middle of the restaurant and they were very accommodating. The food was delicious and the pace of service was excellent, was not rushed but did not feel like we had too long a wait for next course. we ordered desert and were pleasantly surprised when they brought it complete with a candle, especially nice was it was on the house. Would certainly go there again!"
