At our last visit, the food was very good, but the service was very slow. The waiter seemed overwhelmed. In addition, the air condition went out, but no one said anything.   • "My wife and I celebrate our anniversary(same day) at Rods every year we are in town. We request a railroad car booth because of the privacy, romance, and unique experience. We were married at Rod's ( Madison Hotel's Arboretum room). Typically you will have a wait staff that is very knowledgeable about food and wine and willing to converse about both. The expertise adds to the ambience and is something you don't find everywhere. You cans expect to spend $200 for 2 with a bottle of wine. Rack of Lamb is one of my favorite dishes at Rod's."

The other dishes are also excellent, including the salads, sides, etc. but you should be aware that the cheesecake really stands out among the desserts. Babbette has been our server the last few times we have been to Rod's, and she is always so pleasant and accommodating. We really love her! Finally, we also really enjoy the music from the piano player. It adds a nice touch to the dining experience. Highly recommend for a great steak or seafood!"

  • "We arrived a little after 9PM to celebrate my sons confirmation. The waitress was absolutely wonderful. We just met and she treated us like family. She helped us with our ordering and made recommendations. All of which were spot on. The filet mignon and potato pancakes were delicious. When we were finished, she asked us if we wanted desert menus. She returned with a cake with a candle in it for my son.(They did not even charge us for the delicious cake). The Kellers have continued the family tradition. I have been there many times over the past 40 years and every time was memorable !"

We have been to Rod's multiple times in the past, but this experience really exceeded our expectations. The food was of course spectacular. I had the filet "Keller's Way" - perfection. My husband had the roasted chicken - perfection. We enjoyed our wine and listened to live music downstairs. Romance at its best! I had written a comment through Open Table that it was our anniversary, and that was all they needed to surprise us with a delicious small cake at the end of our meal, wishing us a Happy Anniversary. I had no idea that they would cater to us with such detail. We will continue to return for years to come!"

It was restaurant week and the only criticism I had it that I KNEW it was restaurant week and had to ask for the menu. The price fixe menu was not offered with the other menu. I ordered the tenderloin off the price fixe menu and my husband ordered his prime porterhouse off the regular menu. The food was very good. It was a busy Friday night, tables were full. The service was a little slower than we would have liked but our waiter was very nice. We would most likely go back again and on another special occasion. The prices are $$$$."
