We are open every day - all day. Our guests may enjoy whale spouting, sea otters and pelicans. • "food was well overpriced. they were out of most items on the menu. disappointed"

  • "Great view, day or night. However, the menu is a little out dated. Looked a little run down on the inside. You can tell that this used to be a favorite spot, but it was close to empty on a Saturday night."

  • "We made a reservation for 4:30, as we wanted to eat early. The reservation was accepted, but when we go there we found the restaurant didn't open until 5:00! The staff was attentive and helpful, We ate in the restaurant, where the food was alright, with generous portions, but very dated menu. Decor was also a little tired. However, I am planning on going back because the view is unbelievable! We were there at sunset, and the view over the Pacific Ocean was truly unbele=ievable, plus we saw whales in the distance, thanks to the sharp eyes of one of the servers. Mext time I'll order from th bar menu. Same view, better prices ans slightly more up to dste menu,"

  • "We had lobster and it was amazing. Love the view. Curious how it will change with new owners. We have been eating at Rocky Point for over 20 years and so we shall see the next time we come if it is someplace we continue to enjoy or scratch from our list."

  • "The ocean views can't be beat and the added lights make watching the waves crash on the rocks at night possible."

  • "Outstanding! The new ownership will be making changes that will add to the elegance."

  • "Best views in town. Food was surprisingly good. Great Christmas menu. Limited kids menu."

  • "The view is awesome! It isn't inexpensive - and you are paying for the view - but it is outstanding!"

  • "We went there for an early dinner on Thanksgiving. I had the Seafood Salad and it was FANTASTIC!! My husband had King Salmon and really enjoyed it. It was a beautiful day and you could see for miles. We would definately recommend Rocky Point Restaurant."

  • "The only thing going for this restaurant is the location - but you don't need to eat here to enjoy the view. We arrived for Thanksgiving half an hour early but were seated with no problem. I quickly realized that the restaurant was nearly empty and that is why they were able to seat us early. The decor is auhentic 1950's - by authentic I mean that nothing has been updated since it opened in 1950 so the place looks old and tired. We both ordered the thanksgiving special. The food was truly awful - serving staff did nothing about the complaints, even when food was sent back to the kitchen. Luckily our family day was not ruined by this abysmal attempt at food"

  • "The best part of the restaurant was the view -- it was absolutely spectacular. Our waiter was friendly, joking with us several times. However, the food was tasteless, steaks overcooked, and everything was overpriced for the taste (this restaurant is NOT in the $30 range -- most dishes are over $45), and overall the ambiance was a little shabby. It was November, and we were very hot (read: BAKING) next to the windows. I complained to the manager, and his response was "there's nothing I can do about that" -- no offer to move us to another table. Not worth the price."

  • "Everything about this restaurant is old and overpriced. One of the best views you'll ever find, but that's about the only thing worth stopping for."

  • "The view is the best in the US. The food is great too. Definitely try the Relish Plate as a table appetizer. It's like being at your grandma's house for Thanksgiving!"

  • "This restaurant has one of the best views in the world - a seascape so achingly gorgeous it's almost a cliche! The food - not so good. The sald was a few pieces of iceberg lettuce with some carrot shavings on it. The clam chowder tasted like it came from a can. The trout was dry and the NY steak was tasteless, like it had been frozen for months and deforsted in a microwave! Drinks in the bar only!"

  • "The food was good. The view is amazing and the staff were fun. The food was very pricey and we spent over $100 for breakfast for 3."

  • "Don't know what happened at this place. It's been about 5 years since we've been in this area, and thought we'd have a nice dinner at Rocky Point. We were almost the only customers in the place. Our food was edible, but the prices were very inflated. We're sorry to see this place in this state. Will not return."

  • "They advertise that every table is a beautiful view of the ocean... and they are correct. Spectacular location overlooking rocky coast. Attentive staff. Inside decor could use a little updating, but customers come for the views. Food is good and abundant. Would recommend."

  • "The setting was fantastic with wonderful views. The decor of the interior was tired and dated. The food was very bland and extremely overpriced."

  • "This was our first time at Rocky Point, it had such good reviews, so we went for our 23rd anniversary Saturday 5:15pm. The view is the only reason to go, it's gorgeous, however you can get great views all along the coast. The food was decent, they did a nice job cooking the steak, but nothing to brag about, your standard fair, nothing special; defiantly not worth the price. The place has a nice outdoor patio, but the whole place is in need of an upgrade, it's old and worn. The host/manager is nice enough, but the rest of the staff seems beat down, tired, and wishing they where home. They did give us free cake to celebrate our anniversary which was very nice, but they really need to liven up a little."

  • "Fabulous eating experience with spectacular views. Best Clam Chowder ever!"
    Dined on 9/5/2012
  • "The food was HORRIBLE!! My husband and I could only eat a couple of bites of our food. It was not edible. I had the crab sandwich and clam chowder. I have had clam chowder in a can that tasted better. The crab tasted old and it was served on sliced bread. I couldnt get the aweful taste out of my mouth for the rest of the day. At around $20 per plate we were very disappointed. If I am going to pay that much for lunch I expect a lot more. The plates, glasses and silverware reminded me of a diner. The lamp on the table was corroded and the lampshade had holes on it. The plastic tropical flowers on the table did not fit the big sur coast. The view is amazing but that is all this rundown restaurant has to offer."

  • "Very poorly cooked food. Service was fine. i would recommend this restaurant for the scenic view only. Probably I good place to stop to have some drinks and maybe an appetizer."

  • "This is an "old school" restaurant that does reasonably well with steak and seafood offerings. My family especially enjoyed the cheesy bread -- a plate of that would have been just fine for me! I opted for the prime rib instead -- a good-sized piece of meat. There was cheesy butter with the baked potato, also very yummy, and this was preceded by a salad, but I still found the plate a little bare. I could have done with less meat and more vegetable matter, but it is "old school" after all. The view was really lovely and made the meal special. I was surprised that there weren't more diners that evening but you have to be pretty brave to take on the winding highway at night. I suspect there are more diners during the day."

  • "View is worth the trip. Food, service and ambiance is like a diner but the view makes up for it."
    Dined on 8/25/2012
  • "Service is ok, the worst meal I ever had. My wife ordered Filet, too dry had to add steak sauce to make it taste better. I ordered Porterhouse that did not have any taste. But had a great view and that's about it. I would go there just for the view not the food."

  • "Pricey menu but views are spectacular of the ocean on a clear evening."

  • "A great spot to have a brunch on the way to Big Sur. Quite pricey but the view and the ambiance is worth."

  • "Great location tucked away along the coast. Friendly atmosphere and generous portions. We enjoyed our dinner there and plan to go back for breakfast and lunch, too."

  • "The vieww that you get while eating is breath taking. but when the highlight of your entire +100 dollar meal highlight is the cheesy garlic bread that you get as an appetizer, there is something wrong. As for the inside decor, Denny's does it better for going modern."

  • "Absolute great view of the ocean and the rocky coast of Big Sur. From review comments in the website, I did not put too much expectation for the food and services. But, it would be good enough as lunch picked up from seafood menu, chowder (a little thin), shrimp&crab cocktails and quesadilla, something never bothering the fantastic scene outside window. Good that most of the tables are allocated right in the big window side. Optional recommendation is to take advantage of taking a walk outside the parking lot to enjoy another spectacular view of the Rocky bridge."

  • "The view, the view, the view! This is the prettiest view in Big Sur. Plus, the staff is very accomodating. The mixed drinks are great! The ambiance, service, and drinks should keep this place swarming even in a recession. That said, the dinner menu badly needs updating. It appears to be a relic of the 60's or so (a two-chicken breast dinner.) All dinners come with a relish tray of pickled hot peppers, black olives, celery and carrots. We enjoyed that blast from the past very much. But there is a lack of "lighter dinners" such as prawn and salad combos. All in all, this was a fun place to visit.Glad we came."

  • "Fantastic location, spectacular views, quiet, food was excellent, waiter service was very good, a little expensive however, and the greeter seemed a little grumpy like we had disturbed his evening. food was really good and made up for a few short falls."

  • "Lousy service, no one acknowledges that you are there, did not seem like you would even need a reservation. Food quality very poor and very very overpriced. I think the views are great, the driveway too narrow for two vehicles to come and go at same time. Very disatisfied. We visited here a year ago just to see view, ordered chowder and after a very long wait we got two little bowls of watery stuff they call chowder, we thought we would try Rockypoint one more time and it was even worse. Next time just order a soda and take in the view otherwise avoid this place."
