Diner Reviews
  • "We went for dinner and had requested a table with a view. We thought we would be overlooking the river and we were placed by the wall without a window. The food was good but nothing special. We both had the sea bass special. The service was good. We would go elsewhere next time...just not that special."

  • "MY husband had the sea bass and it was good. I ordered the margratia pizza. The crust was awesome, but the pizza itself had alot or water on it. It would have been amazing had it not been for that. The staff was excellent. They were all friendly and knowledgable. We had dinner around 7:30 so it wasn't crowded yet. The noise level was fine for us."

  • "Gus was awesome. Very attentive and nice. The food was delicious too"

  • "This restaurant was recommended by a friend and we made reservations. We were there at 6 pm on a friday. Food just only fair. My salad was warm and wilted, as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp. My burger was good, but my husband had the dumplings, they were a disappointment. The restaurant was uncomfortably warm, we wanted to finish dinner quick and leave. Later we went to the rooftop bar, that was very nice, good service."

  • "This was my sixth time dining here, always GREAT food and excellent service. The noise level was very high during this particular experience however."

  • "I rarely do reviews but for this restaurant, I feel that it is my duty. I went with a party of 6. My reservation was ready and the overall service was outstanding. The food was off the charts good. I recommend the Chilean seabass. This was just a very good experience and recommend to anyone"

  • "Excellent food and service! We will definitely return when visiting Savannah. Great location by the river."
    Dined on 7/10/2014
  • "We were staying at the hotel and are here twice. For dinner the service was good as well as the food. Breakfast was ok but not worth what they charged. With 2 breakfasts, a coffee, and an oj, the bill came to $50, and we ordered a breakfast sandwich and omelet with sides of fruit!"

  • "Don't count on local food or decent wine for what you pay. Much better places around the city."

  • "Had an early dinner here on a weeknight. Not crowded. Waiter very attentive. She-crab soup he recommended was excellent! Entrees were both delicious. Would definitely come back here again next time in Savannah."

  • "Thank you for making my wife's introduction to Savannah memorable. My wife enjoyed the shrimp and grits and my steak was cooked to perfection. My only observation is that the food was on the salty side. However, we will be back but we would ask for the dishes to be seasoned with less salt."

  • "I only gave 3 stars due to the pricing. We went with a larger group and some were not interested in paying the prices for the more expensive meals. A lot ordered the hamburger and said it was just ok . My husband and I ordered the truffle pizza and shrimp and grits and it was fabulous!! The service was great, very attentive. We had our. 10 week old and they accommodated her as well. It was beautiful on the inside. Glad we made reservations because it was busy."

  • "Although common in SC, it's still disappointing that with so many great seafood choices, everything is fried! Sauces/spices combinations was very tasty though - as promised by server."
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "It was pretty good, I decided against the Crab Cake Benny and went to for one with tomatoe..name escapes me at the moment. The very ends of the tomatoe graced my eggs benny which was really uncool, told the server and he made a face and that was it.. I would try Rocks again on my next visit and I would also love to try Rocks on the Roof in the evening next time. I also plan to stay at the Bohemian next time too:)"

  • "Our server was terrific. She suggested a great wine. The lamb was magnificent, and the Rocks house salad was light so as not to spoil the entree."

  • "We came from out of town for a romantic night away from kids & responsibilities. The food was delicious, drinks were divine but the noise level was crazy. They had several large parties in there, one louder than the next."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "We had heard pretty good things about this restaurant and decided to go based on easy walk ability from our hotel (the best western on Bay) and it was the best meal we had the entire time we were in Savannah! Best fried green tomatoes and fantastic burger, plus superb crab cakes and dessert."
    Dined on 6/19/2014
  • "This was our second visit to Rocks on the River and we have loved it both times! We've enjoyed both dinner and breakfast here. Our last visit was for Father's Day breakfast and the food is just outstanding. We were seated promptly both times and have had excellent service. The fried green tomatoes and shrimp & grits are must haves!!! We can't wait to visit again!"

  • "We went to Rocks on the River after my daughter's graduation from SCAD. It appealed to the whole group - from her to her grandparents. The service was outstanding, the food really good and the Toffee Ice Box Pie is not to be missed. We would definitely go again and recommend to our friends! "

  • "Good specials on pizzas before 6 on weekdays. Was it the best pizza ? No, but it's a beautiful space . Go upstairs for a after dinner drink. Prices high, but your renting the view "
    Dined on 5/28/2014
  • "The she crab soup was the best I've ever had. The pizza was just okay. The view is beautiful. We'd certainly go back and try something else on the menu. The service was top notch. "

  • "Rocks on the River at The Bohemian Hotel is definitely a go-to restaurant for anyone traveling to Savannah. With a prime location on River Street, excellent service, and a great selection of menu items, beverages and cocktails, I definitely recommend adding this to your list of places to eat in Savannah. I recommend that you request to sit outdoors or by a window seat, so that you can watch the cargo ships come in. To top off your experience, take the elevator up to the 9th floor of the hotel to Rocks on the Roof, where you can enjoy a cocktail, wine or beer overlooking River Street and the Savannah River. "

  • "Great Dining experience! The food was very good...... the Service was excellent and the place was jumping...... a fun place for drinks and food"

  • "Rocks on the River was a fantastic expereince. Excellent reservations assistance with open floor to ceiling window, River Street table! Great Service, good drinks and delicious appetizers. Shrimp and gits and the scallop entres were delicious, but the crab cake was a disappointment. Savannah is schrimp and grits and crab cake kind of town so we were very surprised that such a great establishment would miss the mark on this local favortie. Notwithstanding, this place is a must. We will go back! "

  • "We dined here early on during our visit to Savannah so I had to try the fried green tomatoes and they were my favorite of the entire trip!!! I would also recommend the she crab bisque and surf and turf - which featured a crab cake as the surf portion. The wine list had some good finds I would definitely return on my next visit to Savannah."

  • "Having grown up on the Texas Gulf Coast near the Louisiana border, I know good gumbo. This was in the top 5 ever. Loaded with fresh seafood and very tasty. Service by Denise was fantastic and drinks were delicious as well. Overall just a wonderful experience."

  • "Our waiter was great. The food was so/so we spent 125$ on brunch, the shrimp were extremely tough. Which happens they were cooked too long. When I made the reservation I told them that it was my birthday. The hostess didn't even acknowledge I had a reservation. Matter of fact, there was a lot of seating and they decided to push to tables for four of us. This was my 35th birthday and this is where I decided to spend my small celebration. Only they didn't even wish a happy birthday, but a happy Mother's day. Could have been a lot better. I work in hospitality so I will be sure to not send my guest there because they do not pay attention to details. "

  • "Lack of professionalism all around. Incredibly rude employees who did not accommodate a disability. There was molded fruit in our coffee cups. The hostess's breast also fell out of her shirt. The restaurant was extremely loud and it took well over half an hour for our waiter to even arrive at our table. Beautiful restaurant but a terrible experience. "

  • "Really enjoyed Sunday Brunch here. This was a wonderful choice for out of towners to celebrate Mother's Day. Food was delicious, setting was nice for our party size and service was good. I'll definitely be back to see what the regular menu holds."

  • "My family was in town celebrating graduation; we reserved on OpenTable and were seated immediately upon our arrival. The menu provides a variety of excellent food options--my family loved the shrimp & grits, filet mignon & crab cakes! Our server was very helpful & did a wonderful job! This restaurant is a hidden gem--I highly recommend Rock on the River! When you are done with dinner, take the elevator to the roof (Rocks on the Roof) for a beautiful view of the Savannah River & Talmadge Bridge while sipping your favorite cocktail! "

  • "It was hard to decide what to order because the menu is so varied with lots of great choices. Generous portions and all three of us had different things and were happy with our choices. I loved the house salad and the chicken and waffles were delicious!"

  • "They now have a very good menu for casual dining. Great burgers too! Cool place to people watch."

  • "Whenever I have guests visiting me here, Rocks on the River is a must-do on my list. I will say the food is ALWAYS consistently beautifully presented and delicious - never an issue with temperature nor errors. Service was excellent! "

  • "We received excellent service from the hostess to the waiter. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and experience"

  • "I selected Rocks on the River for dinner to try the clam bisque which someone raved about in the free local guide. The clam bisque was ok, but not great. I was disappointed in the clam bisque as it's one of my favorite foods in Savannah. The gumbo soup was good, but a bit spicy and very filling. The decor was very modern and open, complimenting the River St. view. The hostess seated us right away. If you arrive early you may avoid the dinner crowd. The surf and turf was very good with generous portions of filet and crab cake. The crab cake was delicious, very tasty. Out waiter was very attentive, but seemed to be anxious to take our order. We were not in a hurry and took our time ordering and enjoying the meal. "

  • "Great location with views of the river if you ask for a seat by the front windows/doors, that open up to sidewalk seating as well on nice days. Great bar area, and the service is great. The food is good, not amazing, but not bad."
    Dined on 4/25/2014
  • "The service was very friendly. My son returned his tap beer for a bottled beer because he did not like the taste. The gumbo was mostly sausage. Convenient location. Pat Cox"
