Diner Reviews
  • "I took my future wife here on our first date 5 years ago and jokingly put that I wanted to look like a baller in the special requests box. The manager sent champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to our table that night, which to their credit, guaranteed at least first base. I recently took her there for our 2 year anniversary and the manager (and waitress) set us up with champagne and strawberries again. Classy move to take care of their guests that well over the years and rarely seen these days. I order lunch here frequently and the food has never let me down from the buffalo mac to the array of burgers to the TV dinner. I would and do recommend it to everyone. "

  • "Had an amazing brunch at Rockit while visiting Chicago! The Bloody Mary bar was topped only by the amazing acoustic guitar player. I had the ridiculously delish pretzel croissant, that the rest of my friends would have been drooling over if their mouths weren't stuffed with tasty eggs and corn bread! Service was a bit slow- but to be expected on a crazy Saturday morning! Will definitely be back :-) "

  • "I came here with my husband after mass for our Anniversary Brunch. Loved the wide menu choices. Everyone around us was energetic and giving off a good vibe. We have been to the one in Wrigley. We will definitely be coming back to these bars!"

  • "Nice beer menu and the cinnamon raisin grilled cheese was a great twist on a classic sandwich."

  • "I could go to Rockit for lunch daily. The menu is large enough that you can always order something new or different. And the servers are so friendly and great. There is always a table available. Can't get enough Rockit!"

  • "Service was quick and wait-staff were all friendly and courteous. Food was hot and NOT overcooked. Quantity was reasonable. The shiitake mushrooms in the cheese sauce on the fries was a nice surprise."

  • "We had been here years ago and loved everything we ordered, I had the turkey burger. This time the food overall was eh, ok. First off yes I'm an extremely picky eater and a burger connoisseur so I'm even more picky with my burgers. I ordered the locavore burger, nothing special, a little dry, definitely not worth ordering after one bite and the sweet potato fries were soggy, eew. My fiance had the buffalo mac n cheese, it was noteworthy. Our friend had the rockit burger, he was not impressed as well, the slab of brie cheese alone is huge and too overpowering. But the parmesan truffle fries are to die for! Amazing, worth coming here just for those. I would maybe try their happy hour or brunch sometime but probably not dinner again."

  • "Rockit used to be THE place to go. I was here Saturday for brunch and it was terrible. My friend ordered a turkey burger which came rare, when she asked about it to the server he said they cook their burgers in sriracha sauce which is what makes it pink. A. it wasn't spicy in the least and B. it was pink and cold which means it's rare. I ordered something that had potato hash browns and the hash browns were so overcooked that I almost chipped a tooth trying to eat one. Service was not good. We had a jerk server who gave dirty looks when he could have simply said "My apologies for this, we will fix it." I will only ever come back here for drinks at the bar and if it's someone else's idea. This place has completely lost it's touch."

  • "My friend and I met here on Saturday for brunch and it was delicious. We had mimosas and I ordered the waffle of the day (candied bacon, walnuts, maple whipped cream) and she had the pork belly hash. The only criticism I have is that there could have been more pork belly on the hash. But the service was great. Definitely recommend making a reservation, even for brunch."

  • "Excellent menu choices and interesting atmosphere Our only complaint was the noise level but we knew that beforehand. Reservation definitely helped as they were lined up upon arrival This was our second visit.. We now make it a must stop when we come to River North area once a year Everything we saw being delivered to tables looked great as was ours."

  • "When we got there at 10 AM, it was relatively quiet (we woke up early and were hungry) but by the time we got our first mimosa bar (a bottle of champagne with bottomless juices and fruit to mix), it was hopping. The cinnamon raisin grilled cheese was perfect and filling, and we had a great, long hangover brunch with minimal noise and/or interruption. Could not recommend highly enough for a recovery!"

  • "I had an outstanding black angus burger on a pretzel bun and the French Onion soup was top notch. My spouse had creamy butternut squash soup (yummy) and a turkey burger that was much larger than the bun. All was cooked perfectly and served promptly. Would definitely return and bring friends."

  • "Rockit is a must do if you're looking for a great brunch and a great value on Saturday or Sunday mornings. We never miss it each time we're in Chicago. Their Bloody Mary's are by far the best around and only $6 plus a huge condiment bar to go along with it. Everything we've had to eat there thus far has been excellent. I love the raisin toast grilled cheese, my husband loves the breakfast burrito and the kids love their burgers. This is a CANT MISS!"

  • "My spouse and I went here in the middle of working late on a Thursday. We both had soup: French Onion (his usual) and Tomato Bisque. Both arrived promptly and tasted good. He had the Locavore burger; I had the shrimp and grits. Also both good. I enjoyed The Cure, and when I asked about the Pinot Grigio, the waiter offered to bring me a sample, which I totally appreciated and it did go well with the shrimp. There was an issue with our bill (an unordered 'tv dinner'), but it was resolved relatively quickly. We'll be back."

  • "My boyfriend and I went for brunch and both had the bloody mary bar and eggs benedict. The bar is awesome-so many little treats to choose from for you cocktail! Everything was really good! Right when we walked in, there's a guy on stage singing with a guitar. His voice was awesome and really set a great mood for the meal. So much fun!"

  • "Friendly staff, hard to find in Chicago. Our table was set on time, food was great. Drinks were good, normal downtown prices."

  • "We had reservations at 7 and when we arrived we were seated immediately. The restaurant was not very busy for a Sat night, at least at the time we arrived. It did appear to get a little busier as we left. We were approached by our server who took our drink orders and returned shortly after to take our meal order. Our food all arrived hot and fast. We had 2 different burgers, a chicken special and a grilled chicken sandwich. Nothing to write home about sorry. There are so many different dining options in Chicago that I think next time we would opt for something else. Now, this is the second time that we have eaten here and the first time was for the brunch. The service was spotty, and could have been more attentive."

  • "It had been a few years since dining at Rockit--and it still delivers great gastropub dining. It is a bar--dark and loud--but it also has some great bar food as well. Our server was friendly and attentive. His two top reccos--the Rockit burger and the TV dinner (his favorite) were spot on. I loved my burger but was jealous of the TV dinners at my table. An excellent beer list. I always enjoy my meals here. And despite it being crowded and bustling--our Open Table reservations had our table ready and waiting on time. We've dined at this location--Hubbard Street--as well as near Wrigley Field. You can't really go wrong with this dining choice."

  • "I took my BF here for lunch as part of our birthday celebration weekend. It's a beautiful, warm, not overly designed space. I like the little details like the leather seat backs and wide chairs in the smaller booths. Everyone was very friendly, welcoming and engaging. It wasn't crowded, we were seated right away. The menu was full of tasty options for brunchtime. I ate a Mexican omelet, which they made for me without the chorizo, and it was excellent. Great portions - I wasn't stuffed and didn't feel guilty for leaving food behind because I could actually manage to eat it all. I love that they have have good veggie options for non-meat eaters, too! i'm glad I picked Rockit and will definitely go back."

  • "I've been to Rockit a number of times now and every time the burgers are fantastic. It's a great spot for casual dining with a decent menu. The place does get a bit loud at times, but that is to be expected for this type of establishment. One issue we did run into was that they were out of the first two beers we tried to order. Not a deal breaker, but it can be disappointing if you're really looking forward to that beer."

  • "G/F and I went here before a movie. I had the rib sandwich and it was fantastic. Highly recommended. Much larger menu than the one in wrigleyville"

  • "Chose Rockit because we had been there a few years ago with some friends. The service was good, but they had little to no options for kids, which can be expected for the city. Unfortunately, my husband ordered the Cajun club sandwich - it was so spicy he could barely finish half of it. And he likes spicy food. When the server picked up our plates, she asked how the food was - he said too spicy and she laughed at him and took the plates. We didn't expect a different dish or a comp, but we didn't expect to be laughed at. On a side note - drinks were great!!"

  • "We were heading to HoB for a concert and were going to "wing it" for dinner. We were promptly seated by the host (really nice!) in a big booth (super comfy!) and greeted with two menus: food and drinks. Not the biggest selection of draft beers, but a decent selection of bottled beers. I ordered the Locovore Burger and it was HEAVEN. I kid you not - it was hands-down THE best burger I have ever had. It was HUGE - only finished half, along with some waffle fries - before I had to call it quits! My husband had the Farmhouse Burger and could not stop raving about his, either. For $14/burger, plus two beers, this was an incredible reasonably priced dinner before a concert. We'll be back, and we're going to bring our friends!"

  • "then Rockit is the place to go. It was refreshing to see atypical items available for brunch like cornbread waffles with sausage gravy and Oreo pancakes while still being able to order the traditional make-you-own-omlette or Belgian waffles. We enjoyed the $5 Bloody Mary's - just the right amount of spice, and who can pass up the Bloody Mary Bar for olives and other adds. The only disappointment was our server - her behavior indicated that she would have preferred to be anywhere but Rockit that morning.."

  • "Although the servers were friendly, service was sparse. Part of our meal came severely overcooked (looked like charcoal), but we weren't checked on until everyone else had finished eating, so by the time the remade food came out we were ready to just leave. It was a shame because it had a really nice atmosphere."

  • "Half price appetizers is always great. What wasn't so great - I ordered a Stella, waited 7ish minutes to be told that that line had been cleared today and I should order something else. I ordered another draught beer only to be told another 10 minutes later that that wasn't going to work out and I should order wine, cocktail or bottle (of beer). I would've preferred obtaining that knowledge well before sitting there for 20 minutes sans beverage. Beyond that, the service was good and the food was fine. Nothing stellar, but it was a Tuesday night, so I didn't expect much. This place is, however, tons of fun for groups during a weekend or later-in-the-week evening outing. I would recommend the spot for sure."
