always a great dinner....great
Dined on 2/20/2014
Very attentive waiter, risottos
were tasty, but salty, empanadas yummy. Wine only. We're taken as soon As we walked in."
Dined on 2/22/2014
The food is really good, the
service is excellent. The wine is notable. But you won't hear a single thing that is said to you by the server or by any of your dinner companions. You will not enjoy your experience here because of the noise level. The era when this was trendy, or cute, or acceptable is over. The restaurant needs to rethink its niche."
Dined on 2/21/2014
we sat by the bar and it was so
hard to hear each other talk. acoustic are not good. The positive is that the food is great. Plan on going there on a less busy time and it should be fine."
Dined on 2/15/2014
We always enjoy an excuse to dine
in this gem of a restaurant. Valentine's Day was just such an excuse. We could only get in at 5 o'clock which speaks to the popularity of the establishment. The food was great; excellent special ravioli with duck. Perfectly prepared bass. We always love the caprice salad. Wine recommendation was good. We finished with a creme brûlée. All in all a great evening."

We had a great experience. Rocco
cooks amazing food. We highly recommend this little san clemente gem."
Dined on 2/7/2014
Great menu selections. Best
risotto I have probably ever had. Although I have only been there once, this is probably the best Italian food I have had in Orange County for a long time."

I almost didn't leave a review, as
I don't want others to discover this little gem in San Clemente, but Rocco deserves all the success he has had, and will continue to have. It's not a terribly romantic place, as it is rather small, and loud, but it's a really fun neighborhood gathering place, and everybody walks around and talks to one another, and Rocco always comes by the tables and meets people, saying good bye to them by name when they leave. Food is overwhelming, as I look at the menu and picked so many dishes I wanted to try that I just gave up and told Rocco to make me whatever he wants, off-menu. It was a veal/eggplant/cheese/prociutto layered treat. Love this place."
Dined on 1/24/2014
THIS WAS OUR FIRST TIME AT ROCCO'S
AND WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH OUR EXPERIENCE. WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO TRYING OTHER ITEMS ON THE MENU."
Dined on 1/10/2014
Great little place. Atmosphere is
excellent! Bella and Rocco do an excellent job and making you feel welcomed, as if you were at home. Food, what else can be said but to use the over-used phrase "to die for". Seafood Risotto, Paella, excellent European and South American flare, you won't be disappointed."

We arrived without a reservation
at 6:30p and told they were fully booked the rest of the night, turned away. Subsequently went on Open Table, and to our surprise, there were plenty of openings from 7:30 pm on. When seated we peruse the weak wine list. The server had no idea what he was talking about with regards to our questions on the list. Perhaps the owner should do a better job at educating his staff on the wine list. Hint: then you might sell more wine...After we ordered our appetizer, we waited 10 min. The server returned, took our dinner order and asked if we'd like to start with an appetizer. Huh? During our wine and water glasses went empty without attention from staff. Food, just ok, uninspiring."

Rocco's is definitely worth a
visit. Dined with friends (group of 6) and had a private room - restaurant is small so this room is only space that can accommodate our party. This was my second visit - and it surpassed the first one. Everyone commented on how great the food was, how reasonable the prices, and excellent service. Hubby and I split the lamb (excellent) and the shrimp (I subbed pasta for the mashed potatoes so it was like eating shrimp scampi - yum). Also shared a cesear salad. brought our own wine ($10 corkage). Friends had stuffed pork chop and loved it). Rocco's knows how to season food - unlike many restaurants where the food tastes bland. All said they would definitely come back and thanked me for introducing them to Roccos."

This was my first visit to
Rocco's. I had read in Orange Coast magazine, a few months ago, about the top chefs in Orange County & Rocco Carbonaro (?) was one of them so I already knew that I was in for something special. I had the spaghetti with the fish in a tomato sauce (light) and it was so good. It was served in an unusual bowl with a saucer. My friend had the baked chicken with mashed potatoes and brown gravy. He raved about it. Before this dish, he had salad with the raspberry viniagrette with blue cheese. (The menu says feta cheese). For dessert, we had chocolate flan which was superb. It was creamy, almost chocolate pudding like. Rocco's opens at 4:30PM nightly and on 2 nights a week they have entertainment there. Check it out!"

Ya gotta love Rocco and this
place---- the salmon special was over the top yummy!"

Dined here once before mid-week in
the early evening and it was quiet and charming, though the meat entrees were not tender, so disappointing. Came back on a Saturday evening, hoping again for a quiet conversation spot but found, instead, a robust crowd. However, the risotto and arugula salad were very good and this small restaurant has a nice neighborhood ambiance. Right off the I-5, it's midway between Los Angeles and San Diego, so a convenient meeting place for me and friends."
Dined on 9/15/2013
Tasty food, friendly server, sort
of a New York ambiance. Extensive menu, we look forward to returning to try some other dishes. There are a lot of gluten free choices on the menu."
Dined on 9/15/2013
Food is always amazing. Featured
wine was delicious. I love this place."

My wife and I celebrated my 50th
birthday there and were completely pleased. We are returning with friends on our next visit to San Clemente. Go and be fulfilled."

My boyfriend and I ate at Rocco's
last night. First time there but I had read great reviews. Small restaurant but close to the downtown area with a fun, vibrant vibe. We started with the polenta and sausage special-cooked to perfection. Followed by the Caesar salad. Authentic, flavorable dish. We both had the Filetto Maxwell, wrapped in prosciutto. Came with mashed potatoes and spinach. Amazing flavors, seasoned just right and good portions. For dessert, the chef ran out of the regular creme brulee but offered to make us a special chocolate one. Tasty and not too rich! Our waitress, Katherine, was knowledgeable and engaging. Prices were reasonable as well. We had a wonderful evening and will be back again soon. Would recommend to anyone!"

My husband and I visited Rocco's
for our one year anniversary on a Saturday night. I had never visited Rocco's even though I have lived down the street for years. The food is great and authentic Venezuelan as per the waitress. I ordered the stuffed pork chop and I honestly feel it is the best plate I've ever had! Goat cheese, spinach, and sun dried tomatoes was inside the pork chop with mashed potatoes and more spinach on the side. My husband ordered a risotto with sausage, shrimp, octopus, and chicken. He said it reminded him of a jambalaya. We brought our own wine and the corking fee was only $10. Overall we had a great experience and I would recommend Rocco's for special occasions."

Roccos is an excellent
neighborhood restaurant. It is small and inviting. The service is wonderful and the staff is very friendly and helpful."
Dined on 7/28/2013
...but wish they wouldn't start
clearing table BEFORE everyone has finished."

Great variety of food. Reasonable
price. Courteous service"
Dined on 7/19/2013
I loved Roccos! The selection was
great, the food was fantastic and the servers were all very friendly and we had great service!! I highly recommend this place! And they validate parking from the lot across the street, so no paying for parking."

This was the perfect birthday
celebration restaurant. We were there on a weeknight, (how can you enjoy a small, cozy restaurant like this when It is noisy and packed to the gills). Tuesday's special included free appetizers, so we ordered the crab cake. It was the best we've had in ages, huge, light and very tasty. Our server was knowledgable about the wine list and gave us a great recommendation. The arugula and Caesar salads were tasty and plentiful. Homemade pasta is devine, so was the veal saltimbocca-- both beautifully plated. Neighborhood gem doesn't begin to describe this place. Service friendly, nice ambiance, too. Well be back for sure."
Dined on 6/19/2013
Salad, pastas and chicken Marsala
were delicious. We will return."

5 Adults celebrated a birthday
together for the first time in years. The Honoree was made to feel very special by owners and staff. Food was delightful and we were served by a favorite staff member. This family gem did not disappoint.."
Dined on 6/15/2013
Good food. Excellent salds. Not
your regular pastas, etc. Good flavor combinations. Nice wine list. The service was excellent. We were there very early-they had just opened, so there was no one else there, but some came in as we were leaving. Would definitely return."
Dined on 6/15/2013
I kept hearing how great Rocco's
is but I guess I just don't get it. Why were there bread plates on the table if they don't serve bread? Don't serve three people at the table salads only to have the 4th person be served 10 minutes later. The food is better kept in the kitchen instead of in front of the clients waiting for the last person to be served. I also hate when waiters choose a wine strickly off of price. I asked the waitress which Pinot Grigio was better and I named them. She had to look at the wine menu in order to know the more expensive one to recommend that one. I didn't even get to the food. The food was alright but really just alright."
Dined on 6/9/2013
Our 2nd visit to Rocco's...the
first time we dined there we had a great table in a small alcove. This time we were seated in the "annex" - a small room of 2 tables near the restrooms and the pathway for servers. Since it was Saturday night and crowded we chose not to wait for another table - would not accept a table in that location again."
Dined on 5/18/2013
I had chicken marsela. The chicken
was tender inside, tough on the outside. They didn't have the wine I ordered from the menu, but did offer another one which was very comparable. My husband had something like spaghetti with clams, mussels, calamari - He said it was very good. It's not on the online menu - which is another issue also. Don't bother trying to make reservations that way - just go to open table to make them. Also, they didn't have cappucino or espresso as their machine was broken. All these reasons plus the fact that it was unbearably hot hot inside the restaurant only deserve a 3 star overall rating. We will go back and try it again hoping all their problems have been fixed."

Put it this way....I was planning
to do Mother's Day Brunch at Thr Ritz Carltin Laguna Niguel, but because of time and availability I went out on a whim and made a reservation at Rocco's never actually seeing this establishment. It turned out being the perfect Mother's Day Bruch. The service was EXCELLENT and the buffet was very good, and made to order eggs Benedict was the best I had ever had. In addition, it was s smaller eatablishment but very nicely designed. Highly recommend. Definitely fit for foodies!"
Dined on 5/12/2013
Went for Mother's Day. Had no idea
it was a buffet. The Buffett food had not been refreshed all day. The pasta was dried out, shrimp cocktail was warm, the chicken was dried out and tough. It was pretty horrible. The made to order eggs Benedict were great thank gosh or we would have gone home hungry. We also ordered wine which was not properly refrigerated. The Merlot was actually hot. Hard to think of a reason to return."
Dined on 5/12/2013
Didn't expect such an extensive
menu... Made it difficult to select an entree but well worth the struggle... Empandas were great... Typically don't order chicken while eating out but couldn't resist ordering the stuffed chicken breast special... It was well worth the selection... All food was like eating out of my mom's kitchen!"
Dined on 5/11/2013
Very small restaurant, and we were
in a tiny room with two tables by the rest- rooms. Standout dish was the veal saltimbocca. Great, affordable featured wine."
Dined on 5/10/2013
We had never been here before and
we had a great Time! The food and service was great! We enjoyed our selves soo much we can't wait to go back! Chef Rocco has a gem if a Resturaunt! Fantastic!"
Dined on 4/26/2013
Tasty dishes coming out of this
kitchen! The food is made with love and pride and one can feel it, taste it in every bite! Our dinner started off with the complimentary arepas, mini corn cakes if you will, light and tasty and served with a cilantro dipping sauce. Venezuelan empanadas stuffed with tuna ( which is based off a family recipe from Rocco's wife's mother) are perfect appetizer size and full of flavor in a light, crispy pastry. We ordered pasta dishes as our entree, the pasta was served perfectly al dente! Pappardelle alla Vodka and Speghetti Lucia were both delish! Ended the meal with a little coffee and a nice tiramisu and went home happy! Very reasonably priced and friendly."
Dined on 4/11/2013
Very charming restaurant.
Delicious cuisine and excellent service. Definitely a place we will be returning to and will introduce to friends and family."
Dined on 4/5/2013
Okay, we've been meaning to eat
dinner here for a while and finally had the chance. We enjoyed everything about our evening. The service and the food were wonderful. The soup for the evening was broccoli and amazingly had no cream which was great! It's such a small intimate place and we can't wait to go back!"
Dined on 4/1/2013
Food was great, service very slow
on this evening (over 30 min to get appetizer) same with main course. First visit so we will give it another try for sure based on the food"
