Rocco's CafeGreat food, great atmosphere4 of us wanted to meet for a family get together and took a chance, picking Rocco's from OpenTable based on other's recommendations. Restaurant is visually very appealing & it has been here a long time - lot of interesting photos/memorabilia on walls and kitchen is part of dining area. It was a fun place - probably not what you would want for a quiet romantic dinner. It might be a bit crowded for a large group but was perfect for us. We all had something different and each ended up very pleased with our choices. Lingered a bit watching end of Giant's game without being rushed out the door. We will be back - hopefully the blackberry dessert won't be sold out this time!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty! After seeing this on Guy Fieri's show, we decided to give it a try while we were in town. We had the recommended dishes of chicken piccata and a polenta appetizer. Both dishes were tasty . Bread was good dipped in the garlicky oil. Service was good, waitress was very nice and helpful..6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVisitor from MidwestI saw this restaurant on Diners, Dive-ins, and Dives. I had to try it out when in SF. Well worth the effort. Very small with OPEN kitchen. Not real intimate, but a fun place to eat. The food was excellent. Especially the Chicken Marsala. A neighborhood type of gem. Not sure making reservations made a difference. Highly recommend.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMTook an out-of-town guestI had a friend in from Kentucky, and she had seen Rocco's on Diner, Drive-ins, and Dives, and wanted to go. I was a little wary, because sometimes these places can be a bit overrated (says the hipster in me) but it was a really good time! The service was amazing, and the crab cakes were second only to ones I had in Maryland (and that's saying something!). It's small, but the atmosphere is fun. Would definitely recommend.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMJust what I had hoped forWe wanted to have a pleasant lunch in San Francisco, and this was just what we had hoped for.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMyummy! My friends and I were in San Fran for the Diva's Half Marathon and needed a pasta place to carb up. I had seen Rocco's on Diner's, Drive-In's and Dive's and wanted to try it. The neighborhood wasn't great (I was glad to be in a pack walking to my car on 5th street afterward) but the food was A-MAZING! Some of the plates we had at our table were Eggplant Parm, Chicken Marsala, Gnocchi with pesto sauce. It was all great. Rocco even took time out to pose for a picture with us. Highly recommend.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat neighborhood findEnjoyed everything about the dinner - food, service, atmosphere!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI am glad we made reservationsI am glad we made reservations for lunch...with few tables it was busy the whole time we were there. Terrific service and delightful specials. I highly recommend regular visits. I'm still thinking about that saltimboca!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMTake my office to lunch.Rocco's never disappoints. We were a group of 14 and for a small restaurant, we still didn't feel cramped. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the food is excellent. From fresh ingredients to generous portions, you can't go wrong at Rocco's.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSeems to be a favorite withSeems to be a favorite with locals as we saw the owner welcoming many friends to the restaurant and engaging with every customer. The atmosphere and great food at Rocco's is something many restaurants can only hope to duplicate. The blackberry pie was delicious and will visit this restaurant again when we return to SF.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food in a SOMA neighborhoodGreat food in a SOMA neighborhood setting. We were on a time limit for the theater, and we made it with time to spare. Terrific pasta! Remember to save room for dessert ...4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best SF breakfast spotsThis is one of those places that you would LOVE to go for breakfast. Perfectly poached eggs; tasty seasoned red potatos; perfectly cooked bacon... Seriously, a place you would wish was in your neighborhood. Friendly waitstaff, and a spotless place, too. Never had dinner, but been going for years whenever I'm in SF. I have been known to schedule my flights around making their breakfast hour! Gotta love Rocco's! The only thing that I wish is that the sourdough bread was more Bodin's style than what seems like a grocery brand...4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Food!First discovered Rocco's Cafe on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives many years ago. We try to always eat there at least once during a visit to San Francisco. The Linguine in White Clam Sauce is the best I have ever had! Meatballs are EPIC as well!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second dinnerThis was our second dinner in two nights and the repeat was as enjoyable as the debut. Great food. Great staff. Funky room with aterrific collection of old photos. Wish we lived in SF to get here more often.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery aspect our two eveningsEvery aspect our two evenings here was outstanding -- the food, the service and the vibe. and while this place seems like it could be pretty generic at first look, all of the food was fresh, inventive and delicious.
the menu has a lot of options and some of the specials sounded amazing.
the service was super fast and friendly and everyone was pleased with their entree.
the portions were pretty generous as i took half of mine home!
definitely a great place to try in the neighborhood for delicious, fresh italian food or sandwhiches.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Rocco'sWe had a great time with a party of 5. Owner was very nice and stopped by and said hello and checked in on us a few times. Food was excellent. I would go back for sure or recommend it to anyone looking for a great little spot.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PMGreat food & retro atmosphere.Great food & retro atmosphere. Due to popularity you feel a bit rushed after dining to vacate your table for the waiting crowd. Understandable due to the restaurant's popularity, so approach with a dine & dash attitude for dinner and you will enjoy!1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
