Diner Reviews
  • "This was my third trip to Roc. Everything about this place is GREAT! But, on my third trip we hit a stumbling block -- the waiter was a little to full of himself! Made it hard to enjoy!!"

  • "I've been to Roc many times - it's one of my favorite Italian restaurants. The other night we had an awesome waiter, a good bottle of wine that was reasonably priced, and enjoyed our dishes. Our dessert was amazing, as usual. However, we were appalled by the bill. My husband ordered the veal parmigiana special which cost $50!! He said it was good, but definitely not worth that amount. This taught us to always ask the price of specials prior to ordering. However, I really think restaurants should tell you the prices up front and that a parmigiana dish should never be that pricey."

  • "Have eaten there many times and enjoyed it. This time the waiter was borderline rude and and totally disinterested. Will think twice about returning."

  • "I took my girlfriend out to dinner at Roc and it was awesome. We sat outside along the street in the closed-in area and it was beautiful. Great food, great wine. Definitely worth having dinner at!"

  • "I've been here many times before but not in the last year. I'm hoping this time was a fluke because the service was horrible. I'm fairly sure our waiter was high. He couldn't even read the specials. Instead he literally threw the piece of paper down in front of me. Then we were promptly ignored for most if the night. The food is usually very good but this night it was under salted. When we complained about our waiter, we got an "I Know" but not much else in the way of an apology "

  • "If you want amazing Italian cuisine, this is your spot. Cavatelli with sausage and broccoli rabe, Branzino, calamari....were to die for!!! I am going back there...repeatedly!"

  • "Appetizer specials were incredible. Seated immediately great service and menu. One of my favorite spots to visit when in the city. Veal chop was great as was the two pasta dishes. Love this place!"

  • "I have eaten here many times over the years and this visit was as wonderful as any. I love this place because they always greet me with warmth and enthusiasm when I arrive, as if I'm coming home for a special meal. The food is very good and refreshingly modern and comforting without sacrificing style or an excellent level of genuinely attentive service. Upon request, our server, Laurent, recommended some choices with confidence and command of the menu. I highly pass along his recommendation of Oxtail Ravioli. We paired it with one of their house reds, the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, which we really enjoyed. And we ended the evening with their delicious Tiramisu. We will return and continue to recommend to friends."

  • "Roc is a neighborhood staple for us particularly on holidays. The food is consistent. The service is good. The atmosphere is pleasant. The weird thing on this last occasion ( Easter Sunday) was that there were no prices listed on the Easter specials. It was awkward to have to ask the price of each item."

  • "The food was very good and so was the service but the place was empty. They have a small terrace so perhaps it does get busy ???"

  • "Former work colleagues and I get together at ROC a several times each year, for several years now. The food is always terrific, the ambience is perfect, and we never have a problem with the wine selection. The subway is a block away, so it doesn't get much better."

  • "The Roc s a favorite neighborhood spot for my husband and I. Consistently good food, service and fun time. Never disappointed. Can't wait until spring to do sidewalk cafe style."

  • "Great neighborhood place with a personal touch by the owner, Roc. Oh... and the food is absolutely fantastic too. It's always fresh, delicious, and creative. This place is so great that I was afraid to write this review fearing that it would become a "discover" spot and that I won't be able to get a reservation any longer. Roc deserves the business. He provides great product, reasonable cost, and a cozy atmosphere."

  • "Great variety of appetizers, salads and entrees. Everything we ordered was delicious. We booked via open table and these people were on the ball! We ordered a special dessert to be made for our Bon Voyage party for 8 people and they got it done and it was perfect !! Wait staff out themselves out to make is feel comfortable! We'll be back soon!"

  • "Went to Roc with a large group for New Years Eve. Had been to the restaurant before and the food was much better then. The service was frantic. It was fun when the restaurant turned into a dance party though. Overall, I would not recommend for New Years Eve - or at least come already full."

  • "One of my favorites. Great Italian food, creative but not pretentious. Great vibe, attentive service, and you can actually hear your partner talking across the table."

  • "lovely room, very good food. unfortunately, our waiter was sarcastic, and tried to upsell us the entire meal. it was quite irritating and we probably won't go back. had dined here in the past and enjoyed it, however I didn't care for that vibe. when I order a $38.00/bottle of wine, I don't want the waiter to dismiss me and suggest an $85.00/bottle....and that was only the beginning. we go out to dinner 5 nights a week. we know how to order, and always appreciate a good waiter's suggestions, but this was too much."

  • "This restaurant located in Tribeca is great for lunch. The noise level was low and we were able to speak without hearing the other tables. That had great seasonal specials, food was prepared to our likely with fresh ingredients, good presentation. The wine list was good. They did carry an excellent Italian red wine in a half bottle, which I think is great for lunch for 2 people. Most restaurants dont offer that. This restaurant is on my list of favorites."

  • "Made reservations for five. When called to confirm, said it could be four, I was told, no problem, we use same table size for four or five. The table which they gave us, would have been perfect for three. The worst part is that Rocco argued with us about the confirmation. He was ridiculous- But the food and service made up for horrible manners-"

  • "This is one of our favorite local restaurants which never disappoints. Even though we were way late for our reservation on Halloween, they served us cheerfully with their usual excellent food. This is a place where they have kept up the standards over time and serve the neighborhood and visitors really well."

  • "We arrived VERY late for our reservation but they accommodated us anyway and were very nice about it. It was a bit noisy, but they sat us at the quietest table and the service was super quick. Delicious pasta, minestrone."

  • "The server at Parc approached our table with a huge dimpled smile. She was friendly, helpful without being intrusive. At lunch time, The Greenwich Street eatery was dotted with tables of two or three patrons, engaged in conversation ( a real estate closing, a writing project, an interview). The noise level was perfect for conversation. Grilled salmon was prepared exactly as requested. Tomato focaccia was a nice surprise. Pasta looked a bit overlooked, but satisfied my lunch companion."

  • "Food was very well prepared. Meat tortellini and truffle french fries were awesome. We did not appreciate the service though. In an empty restaurant, at lunch time I did not like feeling like our waitress was doing us a favor by sitting us down. Was very inattentive. No refills, no "would you be interested in desert?". Had to ask the bus boy for a check."
