  • "Tilapia special was very average for 32 dollars. Grilled vegetables were very good. Waiter was crabby and abrupt with no real interest in ensuring we had drinks, water....and offered nothing when asked about what we should have off menu. Like pizza from order out. Overpriced for value on dine in."

  • "We've been coming to Roberto's for many years. Food was great from pasta to meat and fish. Service was disappointing and inattentive. We were a party of 6 and restaurant was not busy. More attention was paid to smaller parties. We arrived at 5:00 pm on a Friday and they were already out of a popular wine. Had to ask for bread numerous times, as well as to ask that someone take our order and finally to bring the check. When we eventually brought the check up to the cash register, waiter met us there with a scowl. Not good service at all."

  • "Everyone at our table ordered Veal. 3 out of 4 had the parmesan and I had the picatta. Everyone enjoyed their dish. The salad was good also. My friend who never eats anything, loved her veal parmesan. I've never seen her eat that much. This is definitely a place we would come back to. I've only been there a few times before, once after a funeral, and once just for pizza."

  • "This is only a qualified recommendation. We made an early reservation before 7 but still had to wait 45 minutes. People were stacked up by then and when we left it was a mob scene. This restaurant has been there for years so it seems purposeful. We waited for a very long time for our food so it is possible that problems in the kitchen may have caused some of the backup. The mushroom soup and salad were excellent. The entrees were both disappointing. The prices were too high for the quality we received. A 4 oz. pour of mediocre wine was $9. Think I'll stick with their carryout pizza which is excellent. This was our second attempt to dine in and there were problems both times."

  • "I made reservations for my wife and I for 8 pm on Valentine's Day night. We squeezed our way into the overflowing waiting area at around 7:50 pm. There might have been more people waiting for their table (all had reservations) than actual diners seated at the time (and all tables were full). There were parties who had been waiting over an hour for tables they reserved. It would've taken at least 90 minutes past our reservation time for us to get seated. So we left after we saw that our name was so far down the list and found another restaurant where we could eat in the lounge area on such short notice. This is a flawed reservation management system. A great way to ruin Valentine's Day. Completely inexcusable."

  • "Had 7:30 reservations on valentines day. Was told they overbooked by 500 people..finally gave up and left at 8:30 when they said they still hasn't sat everyone who had 6:45 reservations. Disappointing day :("

  • "Reserving a table on line did not work out too well. It was Valentine's Day so we knew it was going to be busy. We got there 25 mins before our reservation and they were a hour behind reservations. Don't know if they factored in the online reservations but there obviously was a management problem. They need assistance. Love the restaurant but will not go there on a special day. We left along with many others and went to another place that seated us within 15 mins without a reservation."

  • "Great food!!!!!!!!!!!!! They took too many reservations, however, we were early. So we did not have to wait long, but others did. The service was good and everyone was friendly,but they were a little slow, which probably contributed to them being backed up. We were at out table for 2 hours, start to finish. The music coming from the bar/waiting area was too loud."

  • "Went out to dinner with my family of 6 + my parents for my birthday and my daughter's 13th birthday. Server was terrible, he counted on 20% gratuity for parties of 6 or more without providing the correspondent service. Also put in opentable instructions that it was dinner for my daughter's and my birthday. Any mention of it during the meal? or acknowledgement? Absolutely none. As an Elmhurst resident I'm embarrassed that this happened at this establishment."

The musician singing on the Saturday night that we were there could be considered nothing more than an average lounge singer. He had his amplifier set too loud for the restaurant making it difficult to have a conversation with a person sitting next to you."

  • "Wow! This is one of our favorite restaurants, yet we were blown away by the incredible experience on New Years Eve, which is typically the worse night of the year to dine out. Specials included an amazing Dover sole (my husband ordered) and an enormous grilled lobster accompanied by black squid ink homemade pasta in arribiata sauce - unbelievable! Our waiter recommended a Sicilian white wine, then kept the bottle chilled in a special cooler on our table. Impeccable service by a wonderful Italian man, along with the vocal stylings of Enzo made our evening intimate, romantic, fun, and one of the best new year celebrations in recent memory. Thanks, Robertos's!"

  • "The food was excellent. This was the second time we dined at Roberto's and it was just as we remembered. Once again we experienced great food and ambience. We were seated in the room with the bar and got to enjoy the entertainment. The music was appropriate for a dinner accompaniment, not too loud, just pleasant dinner music. We certainly will go back. This is a great spot for Italian food."

  • "My wife made reservations for 9 on 12/16/13 on a Monday for my birthday. I knew we were going there for dinner, but did not know that she invited some friends. On that day, I received a conformation email at my email address (not her's) and wondered why she would make reservations for 2 on a Monday. When I questioned her, she fessed up that she invited friends and my mother. Not a big deal, but if it had been a surprise, it would have been ruined. I suggest they look into their policy of sending confirmation emails."

I sent a note back to restaurant but they were now too busy to respond. It's nice to be appreciated for supporting a restaurant. I guess unless you are a regular they could care less to get your business."

  • "This was our first visit. The wine list was interesting and reasonably priced. The wine we selected was over 10 years old so it was not completely unexpected that the cork fell apart, but we really had to push back to get them to give us a new bottle versus trying to recover what was clearly wine that would have been filled with cork bits. The food was 50/50 - my husband's lasagne was good, however the veal medallions were dry (when veal comes with a steak knife, it isn't really a good sign). Overall, I'd be willing to give it another try, but it wasn't someplace I'm rushing back to."

  • "We enjoyed our first visit to Roberto's...food was good, and service was great. Two in our group ordered pasta dishes and proclaimed them to be OK; two others ordered specials... a whitefish and a pork special, both of which were quite good. Overall very nice presentation, great table settings...serving pieces, glasswear, etc. One big objection was the heat! The restaurant was packed full (Sat. night), and that can be a factor regarding temperature, but it was just uncomfortably warm from the moment we walked in the front door until our departure. Still, we would be encouraged to go back!"

  • "We hadn't been here in years, and now I remember why. Just not that good, and there's a lot of competition that is. Went with another couple and only one of really liked our entree. Nice that they come with soup or salad, though. Split a dessert because we wanted to stay and talk, and got the chocolate cake -- big piece, but kind of dry. We were there on a pretty empty Sunday and the server was just not around enough. Waited so long for the dessert tray and then it was such a disappointment -- should have skipped dessert. We won't be back."

  • "Unfortunately we had a server who had a big table (around 20) and our party of 4 was on the back burner. The bus boy didn't fill our water glasses for over 15 min after we had been seated, and the server finally made an apperance shortly after that. We ordered baked clams for an appetizer and when we asked for more bread so we could finish enjoying them the bus boy took our plate before we were finished. Our server had his hands full and should not have been given another table. It made for an unpleasant experience. Everything took FOREVER..., getting waited on, getting drinks, getting our foor, trying to order anthing was a chore. I will not be going back."
