RobertFussy eaterWe loved sitting at window and overlooking Columbus circle. The waiter was extremely efficient and kept checking back with us. The food was excellent6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe view is the highlight!Went to celebrate a birthday prior to a performance in the area. The service is extremely professional. Nice selection of wines, and when my husband accidentally knocked over his half full glass, the waiter immediately brought him a replacement. The food was very good - and the menu was varied enough to meet our diverse tastes. However, as many reviewers have said, the view is what really sets this place apart. We had a table by the window and had a great time admiring the views of Central Park and the Upper West Side. Our son took plenty of photos to attest to this! Definitely recommend this restaurant.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMTwo thumbs up, Robert!I recently took my daughter to NYC (where I went to school) for her 13th Birthday. She wanted a restaurant with a view and this was perfect! There's nothing like this view over Columbus Circle in late afternoon from The sunset makes a magical glow over Central Park and the East Side buildings beyond it. The staff couldn't have been more accomodating. The food was simply great; the service, gracious and perfectly timed. The dessert came with a chocolate inscribed "Happy 13th Brithday.' Elegant, not kitch. Truly an elegant place where you sense not tourism so much as gathering with other New Yorkers for special occasions. Five stars from us! It is by far the most memorable part of our special trip. Thank you Robert staff!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA great experience with aA great experience with a gorgeous view over Central Park. Great for people watching. The food and service were good.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat upscale-evening kind of placeUnbeatable view, very efficient and friendly staff, and great ambiance and inner decor. I felt like this is what so many not-as-good pretentious restaurants TRY to be, but Robert is just what fine dining should be. Slightly small portion size, but this is the kind of place when ambiance and an unmatched view make up for it.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA great place to have a brunchA portion of food is a bit small relative to other restaurants in nyc, but the view on the Central Park makes it up..
The service is very attentive and food was more than good.. I would recommend the restaurant..
Make sure to make a reservation.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic view over ColumbusFantastic view over Columbus Circle. Design of the restaurant is very innovative and unique. They stored our bags while we toured the museum. Very convenient.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect birthday lunchI took my friend to Robert for her birthday and it was perfect. The service excellent and we even got a table by the window which I had asked for in my reservation. All in all is was a wonderful birthday celebration.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceThe restaurant is wonderful! Great service and what a view from the 9th floor looking out onto Columbus Circle and Central Park. The menu is limited but I still had trouble deciding what I wanted. I finally chose the red snapper with Manila clams in a bouillabaisse sauce and loved every bite. I would definitely recommend for both the ambience and the food and will without question go back.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMfodd, service and view werefodd, service and view were terrific - an enjoyable evening - jazz piano was a plus6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat view and serviceWas here for a birthday dinner. Got seated at the window, exceptional service by the waiter and the hostess, great food. Certainly a top 10 restaurant.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial treatI visited Robert for lunch, as I have many times, because they have a nice variety of lunch choices at reasonable prices in an outstanding setting . The park/city views are the best I've enjoyed. Local friends like to return every season, out of town and foreign friends find it a special treat. The museum below and gift shop are added perks to a visit!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBest view in townGood food, great ambiance, pleasant accommodating staff and the best view in town overlooking Columbus Circle.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWish we got to enjoy the viewThe view from Robert is amazing. We got seated at a table near the back of the restaurant. The food and service were still outstanding. I would definitely go back!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMspecial for out of townersWe visit NYC once or twice a year and always return to Robert. We love to see the native New Yorker's visiting and enjoying each other. It feels like a "local" gathering place rather than a "tourist" place. The scenic value is immeasurable. the food and service are outstanding. We always feel that our waiter is our friend before we leave. The watercress avacoda soup was "to die for" and the salmon too! Thanks again!!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMNew favorite lunch spotLove the food, love the service, and cannot not love that Central Park view. What more do you need for a prrfect lunch spot?5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for romanceMy wife and i went to Robert for a special occasion, the servers were the best. The staff was amazing , as well as the cocktails and food . I recommend this resturant . The views of Columbus circle will leave you in awe . If you are in the area please make sure you visit5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMByron & Robert made it a fine expWe booked a couple of weeks ahead hoping to get a window table, unfortunately we delayed our booking for the evening but were still treated to a second row window table.A warm welcome as we arrived, we were seated and received a very warm and personal treatment from Byron, one of the head waiters, recommended THE perfect wine to fit our food selection - filet mignon and sardines which were excellent. A brief very disappointing unexpected moment of rough delivery by one of the food delivery boys, this surprise was noticed by Byron who, along with the owner of the establishment Robert, expressed their immediate apologies and took extreme care of us for the rest of the evening, making up for it in numerous ways.Overall, the experience was ACE!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great restaurant!Robert is one of the most interesting restaurants in the city. It has an amazing view of Central Park and great food. I highly recommend it for brunch. The lobster benedict is gorgeous, as well as the very creative deserts. The service is impeccable and on Sundays there is live jazz at brunch time. Despite my always high expectations, Robert never disappointed me. It is really a gem!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely...What a pleasant surprise. Located above Museum of Arts and Design this lovely gem is a great little treasure. Welcomed with gentle jazz vocalist and a quite and relaxing atmosphere, we found respite from the hussling city. Fresh and delicious, we enjoyed smart salads, delicious soups and a delicate seafood entree. Menu was perfect for a light, late night supper. Recommend it,5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSplendid RobertThe view is spectacular. We had a table "one-off" from the windows, but we still could capture a great shot of Columbus Circle. The service was quick and efficient. The food was fresh and the menu was simple, but to the point. We ordered yellow-fin appetizers and the duck for a main course. We did not partake, but the variety of cocktails looked good too. We ended with a shared chocolate cake accented with strawberries...excellent.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat new findLate lunch with wine. Wonderful service, great location.
We had a wonderful time.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrated a birthday dinnerCelebrated a birthday dinner at Robert based on TripAdvisor reviews. Got a window table with a great view of Columbus Circle.
Excellent meal and service. A special night.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappointsThere is something about Robert that allows time to slow down
We always linger over the wonderful food, view, the changing light
A very special NYC experience5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic!!I worried that I couldn't have window seats because I went with my family.
But they brought us to nice view window seats.
Food was really good and everyone was very friendly.
I love wine lists in this restaurant. It is amezing.
We ordered sparkling wine. It was fantastic.
Definitely, I'll go there again.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMay Birthday CelebrationWent with some colleagues to celebrate our birthdays! Our waiter was extremely accommodating, we brought our own cake and he was nice to hold it for us, cut it, have the pastry chef decorate the plates AND serve them! amazing!
the food is great, dirnks were yummy and the view was amazing! Great experience!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful view from atop the M.A.D.This quiet and modern restaurant is a great spot to take out of town-ers for a good view of Central Park from the bottom of Columbus Circle. The food is artfully presented and the limited menu is fairly well cooked. The prices are a little high for everyday but the view makes it worth the splurge. The service was casual but perfectly attentive. It's a bright and quiet gem 9 flights up on top of the Museum of Art and Design.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGraduation celebrationMy family went to Robert for lunch before attending my commencement ceremony down the street at Radio City Music Hall. We were given one of the window seats with a beautiful view of the park. The service was friendly and efficient, and they surprised our table with a graduation dessert at the end of our meal. Overall, a lovely experience.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat OverallOur second time here. This time with visiting
niece and her husband from abroad.
We not only went for the view but the great food
and service we had the last time.
Robert did not disappoint! Reserve early for the
window view.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ViewWe requested a table with a view and it was outstanding!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome on all levelsOur dining experience at Robert was much more than we all expected. I have never been to Robert and found it to be definitely a return place to dine. The food was delicious And very modern dishes as well. The presentations were very artfully done. And when it came time for dessert, much to my Surprise the restaurant remembered my saying that it was my friends birthday and they brought over an additional dessert with four little pieces of birthday cake and a candle. The presentation and the writing of happy birthday in chocolate on the plate were quite outstanding. It is a personal touch like that that elevates a restaurant to this fine quality.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful view of Columbus CircleThe restaurant is on the 9th floor of the building with a great view of Columbus Circle and uptown. We enjoyed our lunch and the complementary admission to the Museum of Art and Design. At lunch there was a fixed price menu and separation selections. There was a wide variety of choices.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing ViewFrom the hostess all the way to the bussers, the service was outstanding. I made reservations just 2 days prior to celebrate my cousin's birthday and the hostess was able to get us a table facing Columbus Circle. My cousin is a native New Yorker so she will definitely be coming back to enjoy the food and the view at night. Anytime I'm back in New York, I will be stopping at Robert.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day brunchMy daughter and I had a wonderful brunch at Roberts. The staff was friendly and helpful. The views were great and the food was a little more adventurous than we usually eat, but we were very happy with our meal. And the dessert (chocolate mousse) was fantastic!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectionWe chose Robert to celebrate Mothers' Day and our daughter's graduation. We were fortunate to have a table by the window overlooking Central Park. The food was outstanding and the specialty cocktails were delightful. The waitstaff was first rate. Will definitely return on our next visit to the Big Apple.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNice placeA nice restaurnat with a fantastic view of central park. Tables by the window are hard to come by but you can see the view from most tables. Food is nice but not out of the ordinary. Would recommend to a friend.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat nightI was suprised with the food, the service and the good vibration of the place (a little too noisy but still fun).
The view is incredible. When getting there make sure you'll get a window table.
I had an incredible south african red wine.
The baby octopus was tender and the lemon sauce of my agnelotti very balanced.
The desserts did not seduce me.
In the end the price is a little too high, but it deserved.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I had brunchMy husband and I had brunch at Robert last Saturday. The food and service were excellent. Restaurant has very nice energy and, of course, a great view.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was OUTSTANDINGPricey but sooooooo worth it. This is me and my BFF's new go to spot.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Anniversary dinnerPastry chef and hostess made a special effort to help us celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. Our waiter was very engaging and added to an already great meal and evening.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Spot, Great FoodHad a lovely dinner last week at Robert. Started with overly large lightly dressed salad, followed by the halibut with sunchoke puree and then the lemon panna cotta. My dining companion had the citrus frisee salad, the duck and a chocolate dessert. We each had a glass of very good wine and coffee and tea. The service was outstanding, the portions were just right and everything was carefully prepared and presented. And all of this against the stunning backdrop of Columbus Circle. Definitely recommend this restaurant to family and friends.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMBreathtaking park viewsI'm Guest Curating an upcoming exhibition so I've had the opportunity to dine at Robert for lunch quite frequently in the recent months. The service is attentive, love the menu choices (and the french fries)!
Beautiful room, gorgeous view of the park, light and bright, great for a business meeting or lunch with a friend because you can actually hear each other talk.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOur wedding dinner for twoWe had a wonderful dinner at Robert's. The service, the food and the view all came together to make the event forever memorable.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing views.
Food AverageAmazing views.
Food Average but resonable prices.
Staff were friendly (apart from one)5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent. I orderedFood was excellent. I ordered the duck, which was cooked flawlessly. My wife had the filet, also great. Portions were good. We ordered two sides of snow peas; one would have been sufficient. The chocolate ganache was a wonderful end of an excellent meal. The menu is small, but enticing. And the view is unbeatable.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAll About the View!Robert is a beautiful restaurant - contemporary decor with a gorgeous view of Central Park, Columbus Circle, and Broadway. We were here for a special occasion and the staff could not have been more supportive - complied with special requests, brought a special dessert (without being asked) and were truly accommodating. The food is good but not great - we all had fish and agreed that the dishes were cooked well, accompanied with a nice assortment of vegetables - probably underseasoned, they were missing the wow factor - but perhaps that was because the view already had our "wow factor." I would definitely go back for the atmosphere, and to give the food another chance to wow me...5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Occasion to RememberA friend's 88th birthday merited a window table with daylight views of the Park and evening lights that resembled Paris. Nice service but the tiniest bit slow on a few forgotten utensils. Everyone enjoyed their food choices and nice wine recommended by our server, Byron.
Can't wait till we're there again but will definitely have to save up to pay the check.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMReunion lunchRobert proved excellent for Saturday lunch reunion of cousins -- 6 people with spouses. Rectangular table w/seats at both ends much better than typical 3 on each side.
Table not window, but views still good. Restaurant interior handsome.
Staff friendly and professional
Waiter knew how to charm such a group, what we'd want.
One lapse when someone wanted fresh pepper and got it after dish mostly eaten.
Drinks excellent, food very good.
Place was not crowded -- should be busier for Saturday lunch?
Absolutely no rush, remained talking well after bill paid.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMAD for RobertRobert, the restaurant on the ninth floor of the Museum of Art and Design, remains one of my favorite places for a delightful meal, especially with friends from abroad. The exceptional view is on a par with the quality of the food and the service. Now, with new chairs (the old ones were very uncomfortable) you can dine comfortably. I've been eating here for years now and have never been disappointed. Top it off with a tour of the Museum and you have a perfect treat.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
