Diner Reviews

  • "Lunch at Robert was an unqualified joy. The best in town view was matched by the delicious, creative, beautifully presented menu choices with the desserts over the top outstanding. Service was impeccable by the charmingly warm Rose. 2 jaded locals accompanied by 2 almost 14 year olds with 2 discerning visitors from SF had a perfect experience. Additionally our previous late night supper with cocktails with friends from Sydney was equally great. Robert has worked hard to get out from under a not so stellar beginning & the effort has paid off. Kudos."

  • "I dined here this week and was very lucky to get a window table: wow! speechless, the vast expanse of Central park in front of you. Service was very friendly and professional and the food quite good. The prix fix menu is quite an excellent value in you take into account the service, postcard views and the quality of the food. Will definitely return."

  • "The dinner my mother and I had at Robert Restaurant was the highlight of our trip! We are foodies from San Francisco and searched for a restaurant with a view for our last night in NYC. We had reserved a table next to the window (which you have to do at least 3 weeks in advance) and it was such a treat to see the Upper West side glow over central park as the sun set. The transformation from day to night was and exquisite sight. The view, the drinks, the dinner, and the desserts were absolutely AMAZING. The staff was extremely courteous and we were treated like royalty. We will definitely be back next time we are in the city! Thank you for such a great evening!"

  • "I brought a friend who was visiting NYC to Saturday branch. The place was full of tourists as I expected, but food was so much better than what I would expect from tourist traps. Also the service was excellent and price was reasonable. Great place to bring your visiting friends."

  • "They sat us in a all window corner, which was beautiful, but it was hot and they couldn't do anything about cooling it off. Otherwise great experience."

  • "I have had more lunches at Robert than I can count, and it continues to be my #1 for lunch meetings when I am in NYC. The view of Columbus Circle is always special -- and the food and service are flawless. Creative fresh options that suit any taste and hunger level. One day I hope to have time to see the Museum of Arts and Crafts - which looks fantastic."

  • "My wife and I went to Robert to celebrate our 45th anniversary following the ballet. A great experience from start to finish: 1st, the staff changed our reservation to better accommodate our timing. 2nd the view from our table was excellent. 3rd, the excellent staff (who we got to know by name during the evening) was friendly, courteous, and very helpful. They picked up from our conversation that it was a special occasion. While remaining entirely unobtrusive, they were attentive to our every need. To end an excellent meal (I had duckling; my wife had a melt in your mouth porkloin), we were treated to two glasses of Asti and a special dessert devised by the pastry chef. Extensive wine list; creative gourmet menu. Highly recommended!"

  • "I invited my son who graduated from high school for dinner. He was so impressed with the interesting designed atmosphere, the iconic view, the delicious food, the beautiful orchids on each table, the healthy portions and the kind gesture of a candle and the word Congratulations written with chocolate on the dessert dish. The very best: our waiter Byron, who almost made us cry with his kindness and wise conversation. We will definitely recommend Robert and go back as often as possible!"

  • "We had out of town guests with us and picked Robert because we heard it was a beautiful restaurant with spectacular views. The food was very good, great choice, amazing service and an extremely wonderful waiter (Chris) who was very patient with everyone. Great place to bring friends from out of town."

  • "Robert is wonderful, it is airy with windows all around it. We had lunch there on a sunny day, I imagine that the dinner views have the nights of the city making it a different but equally amazing venue. The food is excellent and beautifully presented. I had the mussels which were served in a light sauce garnished with sorrel. My dining companion had an excellent risotto that had a sprinkling of vegetables.. almost a garnish, which sparked it up both in color and taste. The rolls fresh and warm always a sign of a good restaurant. The Panna Cotta was not as silky as it should be but my friend's grapefruit sorbet was great. The service was lovely: warm, smiling but unobtrusive. This restaurant is a gem."

  • "The view from this restaurant is beautiful, but if you're at a table by the wall, the food is nothing special. The waiters will ask you if the food is fabulous, and of course you will say yes to get rid of them, but its not worth it without the view."
