Diner Reviews
  • "I have been to robert's twice; once for brunch and the other time for dinner. The brunch was much better. Although the service was good, the menu is somewhat limited and the food was ok, but really nothing special. If you can get a table at the window, it's a beautiful view; otherwise, it's like a lunchroom. Deserts are the best part of the menu, but you won't have any problem saving room for 'em cuz there's nothing that special to eat on the menu!"

  • "The decor is very modern and funky. The food was very good. My salmon burger was made from chunks of fresh salmon and was huge. It was nice to have a choice between brunch and lunch dishes."

  • "Had read about Robert and now with a first hand experience I would have to agree that this is an excellent restaurant with fantastic views of Columbus Circle and the Park. The menu is not large but the choices and quality are excellent. The wait staff was attentive and we even got a complimentary birthday dessert when we mentioned we had a birthday in our group. We will definitely add Robert to our list of favorite restaurants in the City."

  • "We have been to Robert several time before and have always highly rated it. This visit service was slow...long wait for wine, and even longer wait for entries like they had forgotten us. Despite the wait, the food was great."

  • "Lunch was VERY long. Kitchen lost our order. After waiting at least 30 minutes they sent out two dishes to the table with apologies, then 5 minutes later our food arrived. Chef apologized in person which was nice, but the waiter had just ignored us."

  • "Pleasant atmosphere. Piano music nice touch. Dated decor and dated menu (1980s). I would go again; would take my mother."

  • "Dinner at Robert was one of the highlights of our recent trip to NYC. Dinner and the service were excellent and the view wonderful. We asked for a window seat via our Open Table reservation and it was so nice to have our request honored!"

  • "Quality of food was quite good but cramped seating allows little privacy."
    Dined on 7/18/2014
  • "The food was too salty. The pressed quail was mediocre, but the lamb and duck were attractively plated and the surrounding puree tasty."

  • "The food was quite good, the ambience and view were lovely and the service was excellent. Everyone at our table thoroughly enjoyed what they had. But, dessert, although beautifully presented, was a bit of a disappointment in its taste, and I would have liked a bit more selection. But the overall experience was a good one."

  • "After dining at 3 restaurants recommended by others, we tried Robert after reading reviews after a random search. Robert will now be the restaurant I recommend when anyone asks where to eat in New York. The food and the service were exceptional but the view reminds you why you came to New York. We had a view of Columbus Circle and the sky line as well as the park and far reaches of the city. Comfortable atmosphere and reasonably priced. Excellent spot...and the museum where it's located is totally cool."

  • "Our party of 3 was there to celebrate our 40th high school graduation and the restaurant really made it special. We were seated at a table near the windows so we could enjoy the beautiful view. The filet mignon was the best I think I have ever had and we were offered a special deal with an amazing bottle of wine. At the end of the meal a very special dessert was brought out to our utter delight and surprise. Our waiter and the staff we dealt with were amazing. The whole evening was wonderful - the food, the ambience and of course the amazing view!"

  • "We wanted a restaurant close to Dizzy's for a 9:30 show and decided to try Robert's. It was a real find. Window view was fantastic , the grilled octopus was great and the papparadelle and truffules was excellent and reasonably priced. We will return."

  • "The staff here is always friendly, especially nice when your lunch date is running late. Even if you aren't seated right at the window, the view is lovely. Quiet enough to converse comfortably but not too quiet. Nice balance between fancy and casual. The food is well priced and delicious. Highly recommend the "grown up" grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup!"

  • "I dined here this week and was very lucky to get a window table: wow! speechless, the vast expanse of Central park in front of you. Service was very friendly and professional and the food quite good. The prix fix menu is quite an excellent value in you take into account the service, postcard views and the quality of the food. Will definitely return."

  • "I was fortunate enough to get one of the best seats in the house, with a view looking right up Broadway!"

  • "Lunch at Robert was an unqualified joy. The best in town view was matched by the delicious, creative, beautifully presented menu choices with the desserts over the top outstanding. Service was impeccable by the charmingly warm Rose. 2 jaded locals accompanied by 2 almost 14 year olds with 2 discerning visitors from SF had a perfect experience. Additionally our previous late night supper with cocktails with friends from Sydney was equally great. Robert has worked hard to get out from under a not so stellar beginning & the effort has paid off. Kudos."

  • "The food was lovely, both tasty and attractively presented. The service, while friendly, was curiously inattentive, bordering on neglect. There was a small army of wait staff moving around, but approaching our table did not seem within their job descriptions. The most curious episode was with wine service. The bottle was duly presented, sampled and accepted. Next the wine bucket was placed over against a wall, well out of reach. The wine was not poured into the glasses. The first course arrived, still no wine. Finally one of my companions flagged down a waiter and asked that that the wine stand be put next to our table so we could pour ourselves."
