  • "The scene sets such high expectations that anything left wanting in the food perhaps magnifies, but the lobster dish came lukewarm on plates that were ambient. Our overtaxed waiter tried so hard. but only when we could fine him. When it was clear we were hurting, the maitre'd came to the rescue and was gracious and sincere, and ultimately made everything right. We will go back. We like this restaurant. We want its food and service to live up to its spectacular setting, especially for out-of-towners on their first night in the city. Spectacular! But warm the plates; serve the entrees promptly; drop by and unobtrusively ask how things are. I'd so much rather write this place up and praise its live music than get our entrees comped."

  • "Watching the sun set across Central Park and alomg Broadway was one of the highlights of our trip to NYC. We were treated very well by excellent staff and will happily recommend Robert to our friends and colleagues."

  • "Between the location, the view, the amazing food and the ability to have a conversation without shouting -- Robert is my go-to favorite for NYC lunch meetings. Even the seasoned NYers dont' know of it - so it is a delightful surprise taking them there, and is always a success."

  • "It used to be said the higher the floor the worse the restaurant Well what floor is Roberts on? The answer is I don't know On a fourth visit yes 4 Great location: walk to Bway theaters walk to Lincoln center, across from Central park Is Roberts a restaurant for foodies no all Entrees were seemingly precooked ESpecially the fishes ,unacceptable offered replacement tasted the same Service was amateurish across the board yet serviceable praise to the busboy with the water Pastas and vegetables tasted fresh Why 4 visiits?? First visit was brunch at the window seats So the view turned out to be a distraction and the price was ok For dinner Looked at the bill walked to the elevator and was glad to press 1"

  • "Great place for a first date. Excellent drink and food menu and the service and view to go with it."

  • "Fantastic. The view and the style is even better than Chez Georges (Paris). On 1 condition : you must ask a table at the front window. Never seen this. The atmosphere of this restaurant is splendid. The food was good: not exceptional. You must come here and let the atmosphere come over you. I love it. Everybody was friendly also for our teenagers. It is strange: we had a partial window view: we looked inside peoples apartments while dining and saw strange things : a man walking around in his underpants. Funny! Not cheap but really worth the money."

  • "Booked a table with a view for our last night in New York and we were all thrilled by the whole experience. Staff very attentive and helpful, food delicious and the views amazing - we had a fabulous evening."

  • "A small group of four of us went to Robert's for lunch to celebrate a milestone birthday. Everything was perfect, from the decor, ambiance, service, food. We requested a window seat in advance and so we had a lovely view overlooking Columbus Circle. They had a prix-fixe menu with decent selection. The cauliflower soup was excellent. It is on my list as a favorite restaurant where I would definitely go back to."

  • "A good restaurant, that could be great, but let down by 1. we had an odd little table facing a mirror. strange sensation to have an identical version of oneslef eating 2 feet away 2. the lifts to the restaurant took 12 minutes to arrive, both coming and going. so I was late for lunch, and late for my next meeting..."

  • "Robert has an absolutely amazing view- definitely request a window table well in advance. It is worth it to come here for the view alone. We started with cocktails- nice cocktail list and they are strong. Appetizers were delicious but very small. The have a few appetizers that are "to share" however, they really aren't big enough to share unless everyone is going to have just one small bite. They were delicious though. Entrees and desserts also very good, but expect small portions. For 2 drinks per person, 2 apps for the table, entrees, and shared desserts the bill was $400 for 4 people and we left satisfied."

  • "Delicious food in a jazzy kind of setting. Noisy but fun. Lovely staff though service was a little slow when the crowd built. Biggest complaint -- the entire restaurant has only 2 bathroom stalls, both unisex and dark."

  • "Always sad when you go to a restaurant with the best view awesome food and the worst service :( I expected more from a nyc restaurant. I mean shouldn't they be the best? They entertain people from all around the world consistently. Maybe I'm just used to good ol southern hospitality."

  • "Whether we are looking for a treat for ourselves or entertaining visitors from abroad my wife and I keep coming back to Robert. Great food, excellent service, incredible views (for the visitors and for us at special times of the year). Overall a great dining experience. Follow it up with a tour of the Museum of Art & Design in which it is located to help work off the calories. Great restaurant, great location, great time was had by all. Our visitors thought that we had taken them to a private club."

  • "Went with my mom and 2 dear friends to celebrate my 50th. Incredible view, incredible food, impeccable service -- all made the occasion very special indeed. I highly recommend. We got there for brunch at 11:15 and snagged a window seat, so I recommend requesting that and booking early."

  • "We had live jazz, fantastic food, great service and an amazing view, one of the best in the city. Plus, all little extra attention that didn't go unnoticed, like the lobster taster at the start or the mini pastry with the bill. Great all around!"

  • "My parents were visiting from LA and it was the perfect start to their trip to NY!!! Started with amazing drinks. My mom could not get over how amazing the Manhattan was. The Isabel was wonderful. The view was amazing even though we didn't get a window table. I got the squid ink pasta, even though I was warned that it was an ambitious choice, and it was AMAZING. The appetizer the chef sent of tuna tartare and avocado mousse was amazing and a perfect bite, as was the complimentary birthday dessert they sent. Great service, ambience, and meal. Also I forgot to mention the live jazz that began at 8pm that really set the mood for a wonderful evening:)"

  • "For sister's 50th, wanted memorable so targeted top ten dining with skyline views. Robert at Columbus Circle, best reviews for great menu overlooking Central Park. Hoped for window table, but since reservations for window are month out, no promises. The menu-inviting selections with a flair intriguing even the not so daring. The entire staff made our sister feel extra special, first surprising us with a window table, then with great attention to detail and service and finishing with a sweet dessert birthday greeting in chocolate! Our waiter was engaging and helpful with very enjoyable meal and wine recommendations, greatly enhancing the experience. Five star plus in our book, a must! We will tell all our friends in the area and visiting!"

  • "Aside from its wonderful price fixed lunch, for those who don't want to eat so many courses, there are very filling wonderful sandwich selections that are very reasonable by New York standards. They also have an a la carte menu to satisfy all tastes. The view of Columbus Circle and the park is worth the price of the meal. Be sure to request a seat by the window when booking. It is on the 9th floor of the tall white museum building which confused us when we just had the address of 2 Columbus Circle which is not next to 4 Columbus Circle, but across the street where you would expect the odd numbers to be. Great service and modern ambiance round out the experience."

  • "My daughter and granddaughter were in nyc to celebrate our 3 birthdays .. january, february, march.. granddaughter turned 13 on march 28th... this dinner was the conclusion for our celebration. the view is fabulous, the food wonderful, service was very nice. I did feel rushed by our server. Turning the table seemed more important than added service. Had to stop a busser for another cocktail. Have recommended the restaurant to a friend...."

  • "Robert is a great place but I don't know what happened to out waiter"
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "All in all it was a great experience but I do think you are paying for the view which I do enjoy. The food could have been better for the price. The portion size is more appropriate for a 3 course meal. Don't expect to be satisfied from just the entrée alone. They have a very unique mixed drink. Having been here before I think part of the experience is that they bring out complimentary tastings for guests which is fun (we got foie gras this time around). I made a reservation 2 days in advance requesting a window seat (not knowing they book “a month in advance”) but the hostess was nice enough to seat us in a window seat. The server was nice and casual. I think we got lucky because our reservation was early enough."

  • "The food is always good here, however this time the service affected our experience. Our waiter took too long to take our order and then the food took too long to get to us (we sat for an hour before the food was served). It was cold by the time it was served and a cold lobster Benedict with the muffin stiff from sitting for a while is not as good as a warm one served within the time you till have your coffee warm. Surprised about the service this time, is not usually his way."

  • "Took a colleague for a celebratory lunch to Robert and we were delighted! The food and service were superb and the view amazing. We appreciated the window table, but it was at the very end and is really better suited for only one diner. I had to look at myself in the mirror for the entire meal! Otherwise, it was a wonderful experience."

  • "This is a wonderful spot to have a very nice lunch with a terrific view of Central Park & Columbus Circle. Service is excellent & the food is very good. My only complaint is they don't have regular black ice tea. Only sweeten herbal tea."

  • "The food was outstanding, as was the view! I only wish we had been there for the jazz brunch. I can highly recommend the pancakes and the grilled cheese benedict. The service was a bit lacking for such an upscale place, but it was still fine. Come for the view."
