Great restaurant with great food. The only possible improvement suggestion is more steak selection. The night I went they only had two selections- filet and New York strip. Consider adding a rib eye.

We have eaten at Roaring Fork many times and enjoy it. This was an off night. The booth we were in was very small and uncomfortable. My first drink was flat. The food was cold when it arrived. Not a great night.

I've been to this venue many times and the food is always good. However, the service was extremely disappointing and let's face it, I don't eat a place like this and expect to receive sub-standard service. Firstly we had to wait for the host to deal with 2- to-go orders before he even asked us our names or whether we had a reservation - which we did. The table was not ready so we stood for another 7 minutes wondering why we had bothered to make a reservation in the first place. After we sat and ordered our food we waited....and waited...and waited. We watched the tables around us empty and the only employee who walked by was a server that was resetting a table. After 30 minutes of waiting for our food to arrive we finally hailed the server who was good enough to check on our food. We did not see our waitress until we asked for the check. I later spoke to other colleagues who had experienced poor service as of late which makes me wonder if the front of the house manager has changed. Lesson learned...maybe better off sitting at the bar.

Roaring Fork is one of the best restaurants in Austin. The upfront dining area is romantic or just plain cozy to have a intimate dinner with one special person or several people. The staff is welcoming and efficient. The food is a delight and well worth the expense. We had a redfish, filet mignon and pork dish with sides of mac/cheese and spinich. Everyone's meal was fantastic! The taster appetizer of pork on a nacho chip was a nice yummy surprise from the Chef! Make this a stop on your food tour of Austin - a must go to!

Every aspect of my dinner was spot on. The Texas Kicker cocktail was blended to perfection; the braised short ribs over horseradish mashed potatoes would have been great on their own, and the server suggested adding two fried eggs and it put it over the top! The vanilla crème brulee was excellent, as was the draw of the cappuccino. Definitely coming back the next time I am in Austin.

We chose Roaring Fork because we had tickets to an event at the Paramount which is right next door. The restaurant has a nice ambiance. Our table was right by the open kitchen and the noise from the glassware, plates and kitchen prep was louder than I would have liked. The service was prompt, attentive and good. All our questions about the various food items was answered quickly and completely. The food was good and reasonably priced for downtown Austin. Try the mussels with chorizo !

My wife and I were having a night out and we were staying at the Stephen F. Austin Hotel in Austin and went to the Roaring Fork for dinner. The food was great, the service was great. The only drawback I felt was the table we were seated seemed to be an afterthought, crammed in to just enough space. Luckily there was just the two of us, had their been any more the table would not have been acceptable. Many times I was bumped by other wait staff as they tried to reach a booth in the corner next to us.

Everything about The Roaring Fork (I have been here once before) was just how I remembered it! Amazing food (the stuffing that comes with the split roasted half chicken is literally something you can die happy after eating), great atmosphere indoors, and prompt, yet discreet service. The only complaint was the view from side of the restaurant we were on was not too scenic or pleasant, and involved a grey, urban wall with a dirty food truck in front of it. However, taking the time to make a reservation meant having a lovely sit-in booth, avishly set out for two. We felt so welcome, and it completely made up for the strange view outside of the restaurant window; we hardly noticed it.

It was very noisy. Our waiter was slow getting our cocktails (which we ordered because the wine list was very overpriced) I ordered an appetizer that never arrived and was, btw, the reason we went to this restaurant. Our steaks were good, as we're the salad & veggie, but everything is a landline carte, so it was far too expensive. Had I known this, I would have chosen another restaurant, which are plentiful these days in Austin.
