RN74, named after Route National 74, the major thoroughfare passing through the heart of France’s Burgundy region, is an urban wine bar and restaurant by Michael Mina, Rajat Parr, and David Varley.

RN74 features modern interpretations of redefined American and regional French cuisine with an extensive wine list highlighting the Burgundy region of France, as well as featuring boutique wine producers from Washington and Oregon.

Chef David Varley’s cuisine at RN74 aims to be a perfect complement to the wines- creative, modern, but simple interpretations of regional French cuisine punctuated with seasonal, fresh ingredients and bold flavors, all executed with an original twist.

RN74 offers more than 40 wines by the glass and an extensive collection of half bottles, hand selected by Washington Wine Commission’s Sommelier of the Year, Jeffrey Lindsay-Thorsen.

  • "fantastic customer service. servers were attentive and friendly. i have never been to a restaurant where they leave a pitcher of water for you and servers come back frequently to help refill your cup! my water cup was not empty once, and i drink pretty often throughout my meal, which proves the server's attentiveness. food was also very amazing and i left very satisfied with my orders.   • "The waiters were so knowledgeable and helpful. Went here before the theater. Was going to order from the pre-theater menu but the Maître d told us about a "better" menu and less expensive. Had 3 courses paired with wine. Enjoyed all but the steak frites. I'm fussy when it comes to beef. If it's not super tender, it's not for me. The filet was great though! My husband and I rotated plates 1/2 way through each course. I would recommend EXCEPT for the noise level. That's the only reason we won't go back. Thank goodness I always pack foam ear plugs (loud concerts you know) If I wouldn't have put those in, I'd have have a bad headache before leaving."

  • "We tried RN74 for the first time during restaurant week and it was a great choice. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated in a side booth, which was very nice, and a little less noisy. For main dishes my wife and I were very pleased our entrees. My wife had the risotto and found it very tasty. I the steak frites, and it had very good flavor. Garlic fries were also very tasty. We will go back again."

  • "I've dined in Michael Mina's resto at The Bellagio in Las Vegas several times. This Seattle resto is a far cry from that. The LV resto is a bastion of elegant dining in hushed tones. I could only wish for that here. The food was an earnest endeavor in the art of French cuisine. The ambience was bawdy American. I must've asked my dinner threesome to repeat their remarks ten times, due to the decibels of the remaining dining den. That brings way down the the positive aspect of restaurant dining. The foie gras was lovely, though less than adequate in size. Steak and risotto entrees were nice. Beignets were exceptional. We will need to return in order to satisfy the jury, which is still out..."

  • "The two of us participated in the Restaurant Week promotion. The menu choices were fantastic, the best we have seen during this promotion. The service was polite and calm even though the place was packed. We had to wait a few minutes for our table, but the bar was very pleasant and lively. We were given a booth which was comfortable and nicely situated. It was a very nice evening."

  • "We went during Restaurant Week, which I know can be a little crazy and hectic. Looking around, it seemed most of the restaurant was ordering the same entree that we both did, so naturally the kitchen was getting a little behind. Instead of being annoyed the staff regularly checked on us, brought us complimentary truffle popcorn during the long wait, and even refilled our wine pairing that was supposed to go with the entree for free. To top it off, the food was amazing. I'll definitely be going back."

  • "Very classy but still fun and not fussy or intimidating. The food was pretty much perfect, you know it's a good restaurant when you have to nitpick to find any flaws. The tuna tartar was a touch underseasoned for my taste, but still completely delicious. The roasted bone marrow was incredible, especially the crusty bread underneath soaked in juices. The halibut was perfectly cooked with a nice crust. The steak au poivre was also cooked perfectly(we had the strip) and the fries were some of the best I've ever had. Wait for the table was a little long considering we had a reservation, but we were rewarded for our patience with a perfect, intimate corner booth. Ended up being a perfect night out for my date and I."

  • "Food is always great! Service was wonderful. We were not in a hurry and were not rushed at all. We asked for a booth which was great because the tables are packed in pretty tight. Had the lobster pot pie - basically a lobster bisque with big pieces of lobster over a buttery crust - it was very tasty. Also had a seafood appetizer plate (raw Geoduck is not for me!!!), steak, fingerling potato salad, pea soup (which was great!!) and beignets (always good.) They still don't have Malibu and sure it isn't fancy, but it is what I like. Have been there before, will go back again... Is there a law against bringing your own rum?!!"

  • "I always learn something about wine when I dine at RN74. This week's lesson was taught by the tasting flight entitled, "Rising Stars" of Washington Wine. It started with Morgan Lee's 2010 Two Vintners Merlot crafted from Pepper Bridge Vineyard grapes. The next wine was the 2011 Kerloo Cellars Syrah from Walla Walla. This Syrah exhibited the art of Old World winemaking in Washington. The last wine in the flight was Marty Taucher's and Chris Peterson's 2011 Avennia Gravura Cabernet Blend (65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc). In my opinion a good flight of wine leaves me wanting more from each glass and this flight delivered. Oh, and the RN74 Bistro Burger was a great companion to the flight."

Despite being competitively priced with the various steakhouses in the vicinity it boasts significantly more inventive food, a far superior set of wine and cocktail offerings, and much more capable and accommodating service. It's a diamond in the rough of financial core dining options and would be very much at home in the more trendy, exciting locations inhabited by Seattle's other named chefs."

  • "We ordered the sea scallops and lamb shank with cassoulet and both were excellent. The wine list is extensive and the suggested pairing are lovely. My son loved the Beecher's mac and cheese. I ordered the brussel sprouts without really reading the menu, thinking it would a relatively healthy side, only to discover they're deep-fried and topped with candied bacon. But it's impossible to complain because they were so tasty. And the sea salt caramel ice cream with the Kopke tawny port was a match made in heaven! The service was attentive. When I let the waiter know we had a show after dinner she made sure to help us get out on time."

  • "So, we were about 20 minutes late for our reservation. I tried to call 3x but they were having problems with their phone lines so I couldn't reach them. As a result, they were really nice and sat us as soon as they could. We were seated along the window which ended up being great. They had a prix fix menu but it wasn't written down anywhere. Our server told us there was one, but she would have to come back to give us the specifics. It would have been nice to have it included in the menu, maybe as an insert? The salad I ordered was amazing: the crab and hearts of palm! Fabulous!!! thanks for a nice night."

  • "I saw this restaurant featured on New Day Northwest and wanted to eat here for a specific dish. Unfortunately, they no longer had the dish on the menu. The cheese board was yummy and offered a nice variety of cheeses. We also sampled the gnocchi appetizer, which was wonderful - rich and flavorful, and just the right portion size. I had the duck breast entrée, which was marvelous! Perfectly cooked, and seasoned. It was a very hearty meal for a cold/rainy night.I love the atmosphere here, and the décor is a mix of modern and industrial. The seating is mostly comfortable couches and booths for larger parties. Smaller parties are seated at "bar" tables, which were small and somewhat uncomfortable."

  • "Our group of four ordered a wide variety of items from the tantalizing menu selections. Everything was well-prepared and delicious. The service was attentive. The atmosphere was lively, although a bit too loud. When it's necessary to shout across the table to your dinner companions in order to carry on a conversation, it does get a bit tiresome. But even so, I would go back again. But probably only for a special occasion. Prices were a bit steep."

  • "Food was good but service poor. We have to wait few minutes to meet our server for the night & get a hold of the menu selections. Then it took an hour before we got our appetizers, several minutes to get our main course all the way to our desserts. Even getting our check and change took awhile!!!! We didn't like their idea of picking up our used/"done" plates right away then we'll have to wait several minutes for the next course to arrive. It seems like they're running out of plates. But in fairness, our server is very nice & pleasant. I I also like the ambience and thinking of asking my friends to try it out next time for some cocktails at the bar which interests me, considering i was seated right across."

Small things like water being refilled were spot-on; prompt removes of plates and utensils between courses. Lots of interesting flavors; two of us had the duck which was fabulous. We had a really nice dinner and will happily return."

  • "On my second visit to Seattle, I returned to RN74. I remembered a wonderful meal there on the last trip with a delicious sea bass dinner and terrific wine. This time, we went for lunch. The tuna tartare, served as a main course, was delicious, mixed together at the table with quail's egg, garlic, spices, sesame oil, onion. The only negative on that dish was the white bread toast that accompanied the tartare. Rice crackers would have been better. My friends loved their dishes, as well, from the salmon devilled eggs, fresh oysters, the salmon burger. The piece de resistance was the very delicious Green Smoke cocktail, made with Mezcal! It was so delicious that we returned the same evening for a couple more! Chef Michael Mina knows his stuff!"

  • "I don't normally obsess about a cocktail, but the seasonal Leap Frog Flip, a Laphroaig-based drink, was one of the best I've ever had. Can't stop thinking about it. The risotto was also some of the best I've eaten - and I'm pretty proud of the risotto I make. Overall, the service was attentive, but it was hard to hear the waitress at times. Yep, it was that loud. My party of three elected to share and sample several items. Everything we tried was delicious, though some portions were a bit miniscule. And yet, we couldn't finish all the food - quite. I'll definitely be back, but mostly for the Leap Frog Flip."
