My second time here, and it does not disappoint. The customer devisservice is so good. The staff genuinely care whether or not you like your table, and it all gets better from there. Exceptional service, and the food is tremendous. Highly recommended. It is almost worth traveling to Seattle just to go here.

My husband and I dined here and expected the food to be great - which was true. What I didn't expect was the great atmosphere. It was unpretentious and relaxed, a great friendly vibe. We enjoyed the food so much we visited the bar area two more times for drinks and food. The bartenders are fantastic, gave us great recommendations on drinks and even another bar near our next destination.

  • Interesting menu, but overpriced

We were attracted by the interesting menu-- quail, octopus, venison, etc, but found the delivered food well prepared but small for the price. The geoduck was about 1 1/2 tablespoons chopped vegetables with so little chopped geoduck that it;s flavor was indistinguishable from the veggies and for $17. It 's serving style is almost a satire of itself. The one shell of geoduck salad is delivered on a huge bowl of crushed ice with 1/2 geoduck shell lost in the middle of a sea of ice. Our mains were well prepared but small for $34 each -- loup de mer and lamb shank. The light was so dim and print so small that we could not read the menus unless we brought the table candle right up next to the menu. We asked for flashlights and were told they had none. Perhaps we were naive about the price of geoduck and what we got was normal. But we know the mains and their usual pricing and were disappointed. Oddly, the white wines by the glass, a pinot gris and a reisling were excellent and reasonably priced.

This is a wonderful place with a yummy French menu. The Fois Gras was exceptional - the best we have had in Seattle. Everything we ate off of the tasters menu was scrumptious. The service was very good and everyone seemed to work seamlessly with each other. The noise level was a little bit loud/music for maintaining conversation with friends, but part of the ambiance of a train station I suppose. A must try!

RN74 is one of our all-time favorite restaurants. The service is always attentive and not intrusive. The food is amazing. I had the Quail and my husband had Steak Frites. Both delicious. Duck fat fries are ridiculously good. On our most recent visit we brought our own wine and paid the modest corkage fee yet they have an incredible selection to choose from. Will be back for sure.

We opted for the 'grand' tasting menu with wine pairings this past Saturday night. The food was exceptional and the wines were beautifully matched to the dishes. The wine pours weren't especially generous but then the pairings are reasonably priced, and on the plus side we were less tipsy than we would've been if we'd done the pouring. The only downside was the timeliness of the service (though all servers were very nice) - after 35 minutes since being seated, we were still wine-less and getting impatient. A nice Champagne finally appeared, as did an amuse and first course, all of which were fantastic. But the timing of courses was erratic, with some spaced far apart, so it was a solid four hours from the time we sat down until we left.

I have met friends here for dinner and each time they always leave loving the place. A great place near the stores downtown so convenient for shopping or seeing a venue afterwards. This attractive, busy restaurant adds to the downtown choices. Clearly Happy Hour attracts a big crowd. As the restaurant filled, the noise level became quite challenging for conversation; this was the case even though we were in a side booth. My salmon was perfectly cooked and delicious. The sorbet dessert was creative and delightful. Unfortunately the rest was only fine. Too much dressing on the kale Caesar salad and way too rich gnocchi. The breaking point was the price. The $30 week saved us. The meal just didn't match the cost. The staff were lovely and tried their best as the crowd in the dining room grew to capacity. Thank you to them.

Four colleagues and I had lunch at RN74 this week. We saw that the menu had only $22 fixed price options. When we ask about a la carte choices we were told that most a la carte entrees cost around that much so we should just choose a prix fixe and get dessert for the same price. Fine, not a huge deal but a bit disengenuous. Food was fine overall but as in the past, food temps were off on some items and several items (especially lamb burger) were very greasy. Worst was the service: SO slow. Two hours at lunch in a half empty restaurant. Everyone was late getting back to the office. Overall, RN74 just never lives up to its self-purported awesomeness. I'm always underwhelmed by the food and the service here.

This is the 3rd time I've been to RN74 and the other 2 times were outstanding so I'm sure this was just an "off" night. I made a reservation and was feeling a little frazzled as I arrived because I was 5 mins late, but my boyfriend had arrived on time. I was disappointed to see that he hadn't been seated and was waiting for me in reception. We waited another couple of minutes and were seated. Once we were seated, water was brought immediately, but our waitress took a noticeably long time to take our wine order. She was back relatively quickly for our food order (we both ordered off the Seattle Restaurant Week menu). Where I became disappointed is that my first course arrived before my wine...service did not improve from that point.

We've dined at RN74 several times and are always impressed by its consistent quality and innovative cuisine. Their offerings during Restaurant Week are creative and provide exceptional value, with options to spend more if your palate requires it. Pumpkin soup - excellent, steak frites - very good with only a Tri-Tip cut. Beignets always excellent. Our only point reduction is for the noise level where it is difficult to carry on conversations without shouting. We understand this is part of the atmosphere for the business & young types, so it doesn't keep us away...the food is just too good.

Thought our night started with a wait from some Hostesses not really knowing what they were doing and the night a little busy it carried forward to our server apparently frustrated with haste and slow to reach us as well... That being said, the night only got better exponetially. The service was outstanding from every moment after we ordered (really going the extra difference others at the same price don't take), the food was phenominal, and the the night turned from a frustration to a Top restaurant pick for us in Washington State. We had gone to a couple restaurants in the past week from Tom Douglas, Ethan Stowell, Maria Hines and others... this by far surpassed those locations and shocked us with exception.

Granted we visited on a Monday evening during Seattle Restaurant week, so it was quite crowded at 7pm. That said, we were seated within 20 minutes of our reservation (after a short visit at the bar). We received immediate, attentive service. The courses were all fantastic, well prepared, nicely plated, and delicious without being overly complicated. Although wine was not on the agenda for the evening, their wines by the glass are impressive due to their Enomatic wine dispenser. How often do you find a 1970 Bordeaux by the glass? It seems this location may be well suited for the downtown/office happy hour set, but it is conveniently located near Westlake Center. Highly recommended!

We had an awesome dinner and bottle of wine before seeing a show at the 5th ave theater. Our server even asked if we had after dinner plans she could watch the clock for us. Everything was delish! The only thing that made us a little upset, was, on the website it did not specify that ahppy hour was only served in the bar. That was mainly what we wanted, but by the time we got there, the bar was full. But our dinner was fab anyway

This restaurant has a great vibe to match the thoughtful extensive wine and food offerings. We started with oysters on Happy Hour and then transitioned to a Restaurant Week menu. We elected to take the up charge and select the foie gras and it was amazing. Our steak with duck fat frites was most tasty but we were all enthralled by the gnocchi. WOW. Desserts were divine and we shared three options but the portions were generous so finishing even the most delicious was a challenge. We all plan to return for another sampling and I am quite certain oysters will be first. We even met Oyster Bill, one of the purveyors, who was in the restaurant checking that is bivalves were perfect. Great night and wonderful prelude to Kinky Boots!

Absolutely love this place. Most recently came here for restaurant week with a good friend. We both had the steak frites and we decided that all fries should be cooked in duck fat. Service was wonderful on a busy night. Wine suggestion was perfect. I didn't see foie gras sliders on the app menu, those will be missed. They were quiet possibly, the best thing that I have ever put into my mouth.

There were 4 of us arriving three ways. With one stuck in traffic, the three of us had to flag over the GM to get drinks--was the waiter waiting for all of us to arrive? Finally the waiter showed up and from our order (including apps) to entrees arriving on the table, was an hour. We started at 550pm and ran with bags containing our desserts, making it just in time for the 730 show at the 5th Ave. My friend thought the service bad--I think they were either short staffed, or the kitchen overloaded. Okay for 4 people to talk but more than that, too loud. The bar was really active and full, seemed to have a few work groups there. The food was really good and the wine pairing good. How we couldn't get out of there in 90 minutes was bad.

Michael Mina is a powerful name in the restaurant world so I expected a world class dining experience. The food was good enough but the service was off and clumsy. We arrived with 90 minutes for dinner before a show and repeatedly told our waiter. He kept saying "no problem!" After 65 minutes we still had not received our food. Had to gobble it down when it finally came. The tables are so close together that the rump of the slender woman at the next table grazed my plate when she got up to leave. The noise level is unacceptable too. Lots of better alternatives in Seattle in this price range.

Pricey. Food, ordered off the menu, was meh. Too bad we are not big oyster fans. I chose this restaurant because of location - I am still searching for the "right" downtown restaurant for us to meet at before a Showbox concert. (or 5th ave/Paramount show). RN 74 is not it, not for us.
