RN74 offers more than 40 wines by the glass and an extensive collection of half bottles, hand selected by Washington Wine Commission’s Sommelier of the Year, Jeffrey Lindsay-Thorsen.

Diner Reviews
  • "There are too many other places in Seattle to dine to have to endure the level of noise. It may be quieter later - but we were headed for a show. (Food & service excellent, if not a little over-priced for portions.) Nice selection of wines by the glass - easy to order flights."

  • "If you've been to RN74 in SF, you know it has a great bar, fantastic service, and excellent food. This one is better. The menu is almost entirely different, with a number of choices that are probably locally inspired. The stuffed pork was probably the best pork I've ever had. Highly recommended!"

  • "Although bustling and a bit loud, the food and service were both excellent. The food ranged from the creative cuisine to the everyday comfort food done exceptionally well."

  • "We had a great meal celebrating a special event. The petit set meal with wine pairings was incredible, the service was perfectly attentive and the atmosphere was lovely. A bit pricey, but worth every penny. Totally recommended!"

  • "Noise level is definitely "energetic", it was sometimes a struggle to understand what my dinner partner and servers were saying. The service and the food were fabulous."

  • "RN74 knocks it out of the ballpark every time. It is the perfect combination of outstanding innovative food, gracious service, and high energy. Fabulous well rounded wine list and cocktail menu. This is a restaurant that truly strives to create dining experiences."

  • "The service has always been remarkable. But our waitress seemed to have a lack of good training. She was condescending. And she took the wine list away when she brought the food menus. I asked if they had just a house salad (I didn't want seafood in it) and she made a display to show "these are our salads" on the menu. Thank you but I can read. She never came back to see if we liked our food, but a manager did and I returned the steak tartare which was VERY salty. Then someone from the kitchen checked to see if it was more to my taste. They were both very nice. We used to love the tomato soup and grilled cheese appetizer, and the Beef bourguignon, neither of which was on the menu. It was difficult to find menu items we liked."

  • "I had the five-course tasting menu, and I was really wowed for my first three courses - an inventive deviled egg / tuna tartare combo (inventive and so delicious - it combined chile oil and a quail egg), the hearts of palm salad with Alaskan king crab (amazing, unique and woke up my taste buds ), and a lovely risotto. The main dish of tri-tip just wasn't happening for me. The steak was well cooked and sliced thin - the au poivre sauce just didn't seem to work exceedingly well with the tri-tip. Perhaps, I'm just spoiled by the wonderful grilled Santa Maria-style tri-tip I'm used to eating. The beignets were very good. Service was at times excellent, and other times I didn't have my coffee refilled when I expected to."

  • "RN74 was outstanding! We tried many items and our favorite thing was the burger.. YUM! We loved the atmosphere, the vibe and the service!!"

  • "The service was spectacular. Several waiters and waitresses were a constant available with professional and highly personal attention. They paid careful attention to us as individuals and helped serve us in time to make a theater date. Quite expensive for the amount of food so be prepared for sticker shock even if not drinking alcohol. Also be aware that their happy hour small plates are only in the bar, not available in the restaurant."

  • "Great restaurant all around for a nice night out. Ordering wine off the old train schedule on the wall is a little delighter. Nice wine options and knowledgable staff Sophisticated yet casual, a great Seattle spot!"

  • "We near 70-year olds dined with friends and couldn't hear each other. I was a little embarrassed that we recommended RN74. The portion of halibut was very tiny for the price."

  • "First time there.. was a terrific experience. The oysters were fantastic as was the rabbit. Paul suggested a terrific bottle of wine to complement our dishes. The staff was attentive and engaging. Superb!"

  • "Total of 12 on a Friday night. They have a large table that is elevated and for our group well. Plenty of space for people to gather around the table prior to dinner and move about during the meal. Service and food were both outstanding."

  • "Delicious...thus, I wish the portions were bigger!"

  • "I recently dined here with a couple of friends. The service was outstanding and was what I would have expected from this restaurant. The drinks were delicious and the food was great as well. Our food was delicious however I did think that the bread they served this night needed a little salt which was agreed on by the others at my table as well. I also thought the menu and specials were a little heavy on shellfish which made the current menu feel a bit limited for those of us that aren't big shellfish fans. It was however a hot Summer day so they menu change might have been due to that. I would definitely try it again in the fall/winter as I would love to see what kind of treats were on the menu then."

  • "Great restaurant if you like exceptional service, outstanding, creative and beautifully presented food! It may be a bit pricey but we found it worth it and plan to return soon."
    Dined on 7/8/2014
  • "While the general food quality was good, it was a far cry from what we expected given the ambiente and price range. For example the grilled Broccoli was served burned, the fries had a fiber from kitchen tools in them, mistakes that should not happen in a restaurant of this level."

  • "I haven't been to RN74 in over a year, and was great disappointed. The bill was $100, and all we ordered was two glasses of wine, a cocktail and two mediocre appetizers. I feel ripped off, and won't be back anytime soon."

  • "We've been here a few times for drinks and the bar menu was pretty great! We thought we would try it for dinner and it was good, however, for some reason I had higher expectations from the kitchen - perhaps it was because we went the day after the 4th of July... Otherwise, the service was very good (a little timely), but they addressed it without us mentioning it as we were in no hurry. Great atmosphere as I really like the train station theme."

  • "Wow, the halibut is the best we have ever had and the service is always spectacular!"

  • "RN74 is a strange combination of fine dining and bar scene. The food is very well prepared from fresh ingredients and service is excellent. But the room is bare with hard walls, floors, and ceiling resulting in an extremely loud environment. In such places, people raise their voices just to make themselves heard across the table, which only exacerbates the situation. Some sort of sound dampening needs to be installed. I can understand a restaurant may want to espouse an "exciting" place by being loud, but the volume level goes beyond "exciting" to annoying and uncomfortable. When you can't hear your dinner partner, but only the table yelling at each other behind you, it severely detracts from the experience."

  • "The chief takes him self too seriously and does not produce good tasting food. Mediocre hamburgers and steak. Lots of ingredients combined on entrees sounded good but tasted poorly. Poor menu and even poorer execution."

  • "Excellent cocktails food and service. Nothing left to chance. Wine list very clever and comprehensive."

  • "We had not eaten French food before and our waiter was awesome, giving us good food recommendations. Would definitely recommend this restaurant."

  • "Noise was intense. Menu choices were ordinary. Food very expensive and ordinary. Worst experience ever at a Michael Mina.avocado/hearts of palm salad at scale but way overpriced. basically everything there was tiny and $$$$ but nothing special. So for 3 people - 1 appetizer, 2 salads, 3 entrees and 1 dessert - no drinks for 200 - won't return. Have eaten at 11 Madison, Le Bernardin, Alinea, Fleur De Lys, Bouchon, etc - don't mind the $$ but food, service and ambience was terribly lacking."

  • "Excellent wine list with knowledgeable servers. Please be advised that this place is LOUD. So it's not necessarily a romantic spot but the place is energetic."
    Dined on 6/25/2014
  • "Some of the food is great (amazing duck fat fries; salads conceived and executed perfectly), some is pedestrian (uninspired chicken liver mousse; tuna tartare overwhelmed by sesame oil), and the small portions come at high prices. (Expect to spend more than $100/person at dinner.) The place is attractive and popular but shockingly loud; the service is superb, and, overall, our evening there was fun. We're unlikely to go back--Seattle has too many better options."

  • "I don't typically write reviews but I feel I must for this place. This was truly the most amazing dining experience I've ever had. The chef's selection courses were excellent. The service was outstanding. I will definitely be coming back again."

  • "Reservation at noon. Waiter came and went, but 2nd or 3rd time was too long. Our food arrived at 1:05. Other tables that were seated later than us, had their food befor us."

  • "This is out 3rd time at RN74 and always find it enjoyable. My only critique was being charged for a small dessert tart for a birthday that was shared between 4 people. Would seem more customer oriented to offer a complimentary dessert."

  • "Great restaurant, knowledgable staff. Amazing food, French with a twist."

  • "My wife and I visited RN74 for the first time to celebrate our 9th year together. I'd always seen the sign, but had no idea what to expect. The variety and selection of food is unique & adventurous, but not overwhelming. The staff is pleasant and knowledgeable w/o being stuffy. The energy is high and the atmosphere is everything you'd want from a contemporary, French, hot spot. My only complaint would be that, if you're not sitting in a booth, the tables are so close you can hear every conversation around you. That being said, the service, the food, the wine and the barrel aged cocktails cannot be beat. I would return and plan on doing so again in the future."

  • "Excellent food with a wine list that goes on forever. I love the train station wine board that is constantly updating with an old-timey "clackity clackity clack!" Nicely lit, attractive inside. Solid service. All of the food was delicious."

  • "I think this place is just about outlived its useful life. Four people, entrees, 2 bottles of wine ($75 each) was almost $500. While the food is good, this is a "broke and hungry" place, you leave feeling broke and need a snack later. I ordered the Beef Bourguignon and it was essentially about 3 oz of pot roast. Two of our guests enjoyed the 1-2 oz of halibut with a snap pea and the final guest got steak frites which was a $35 tri tip. I don't mind spending good money, what I mind is feeling like I got ripped off. Also, an Elmer T. Lee Manhattan for $16? Come on. The bottle of bourbon is only $30 at the store. In short, go once, then go to the one of a couple hundred other places in Seattle that are great for foodies."

  • "There's a rule in fashion that you should remove one accessory right before leaving the house. RN74 should consider this; each menu item seemed to be trying a bit too hard to "wow" with extra elements that didn't always fit. The olive/mascarpone bread/rolls were a nice idea... but why was there honey on them? Yuck. Overall a bit overpriced, too, and the service was waaaaayyyy to fussy and rushed."

  • "Fantastic food, wine list and service. But a bit loud"

  • "My daughter and I ordered the pre-theater menu before a show at the ACT theater. Food was excellent, and service quick and attentive without feeling rushed. We had a starter, main, dessert and coffee all less than the 2 hours we allocated for our before-show meal. The sommelier recommend a lovely wine that was a reasonable price. We both really enjoyed the urban ambiance and vibe, but it is not for you if you are looking for quiet, elegant surroundings."
