Was here for my birthday. The good: Food was delicious. Our waiter was good. We had a more private table as requested. The bad: My friend had gone to the trouble earlier in the day to call and talk to them about the chef whipping up a special dessert for my birthday to surprise me. The girl he spoke too said it was great that he was giving them so much notice and they would be able to do something really special. When we finished our meals the server asked if we wanted dessert. My friend told the server to "surprise us" he thought the server was playing, because again, he'd had a lengthy convo with them earlier in the day about a special birthday dessert. Server came back with menus. Never the requested special dessert. Fortunately I was none the wiser. But as we left the restaurant my friend went up to see the hostess to find out what happened. She was apologetic and said she didn't know and did he want to see the manager. He said yes. Manager came over, did not seem remotely concerned that he'd disappointed us. Did not offer even an apology. My friend was horrified at how little they cared that I got no surprise. We probably won't be going back despite the good food due to the attitude of the manager.

I was looking for a place to take one of my former students who was in town on business. He is a vegetarian, so we needed a restaurant with pasta or vegetable alternatives. We also wanted to catch up on the progress of his career and family. My husband and I went on line to review menus and we selected Rizzutos which has a number of meatless pasta dishes. It turned out to be a perfect choice. We were there on a lively Thursday night, but the noise level was manageable so we were able to talk. We each ordered a different meal, 2 of which were meatless, and all 3 meals were outstanding. The service was attentive but not oppressive, and we were able to linger over our meal without feeling rushed to vacate our seats. Great evening!

First time visitor. Was extremely disappointed in the entree - much too salty! Owner apologized but no one offered to provide a different entree. Desserts were unusual - sometimes that's good - in this case, they were equally as disappointing as the entree. Won't be returning anytime soon - if ever.

Very nice for a birthday lunch for a friend. Complimentary dessert was a nice touch. Have been there often for lunch and it's been nice on the patio. At dinner it tends to be a bit loud inside. Overall we like it there very much.

We made reservations, as this was our 1st time dining at Rizzuto's and knew it was a popular restaurant from its reviews online. We decided to eat there since it was a special family occasion. We were thrilled with the menu options and every dish was delicious! Our servers were wonderful, too. They were friendly and attentive as well. We have already recommended Rizzuto's to our family and friends. We will always dine there when in West Hartford. Thank you!

I'm starting to think Rizzutos is one of the best all around restaurants in west Hartford. The food is delicious and creative. My wife is vegetarian and she has ordered something different every time we've been there. Love the pick n choose cheese and veggie plate, the pastas are spot on, and the pizza from the wood fired oven are very good. The service is very good. They seem to work as a team really well to keep everything moving and diners happy. There is a noticeable improvement here over the last 2 yrs. great job! Rizzutos is a now a place I love going w my wife for date night, bringing groups of friends, and even out of towners for a great meal and energetic atmosphere. P.S.- if they step up the craft beer selection I'd come weekly;)

We were a party of 6 on a Saturday evening. Seth was our server and he was excellent - competent and well trained. The osso buco was delicious as was the calamari appetizer. The only negative was the kitchen running out of sausage for the pizza - not very good planning for an Italian restaurant on a Saturday night. We enjoy going to Rizzuto's and will return in the near future.

The bread was the best part of the food and came quickly. Of the 6 people nobody loved their meals, the potatoes were under cooked and the Kale salad was bitter. The kid menu was good but the food took too long and the idea of the dessert was fabulous the rice krispys were stale.

This was perhaps our 8th or 9th time a Rizzutos - sat outside in the small but relaxing outdoor area. The appetizers were actually as good as we had come to expect - the risotto, a flatbread and a pasta dish were somewhat mediocre. Portions were small for the relatively high price. We'll go again and hope this was fluke.

There's a small table in a corner that's right next to the service station, it shouldn't be there. Every time we go, which is often! We have to ask not to be seated there. My husband is 6.5ft and his legs take up the entire seating area. When we ask not to sit there we're not treated kindly. We come in often and for the money we spend I don't think it's asking too much to not be seated where we will not be comfortable, especially when there are plenty of open tables.

Of the 5 items we ordered, 2 were outstanding and 3 were horrible! A martini with olives wrapped in prosciutto ? Absolutely disgusting! And it made the whole drink taste horrible! Minestrone with no veggies ?- just white beans and broth? What's that? And what was that soupy cheese and nasty "kale chips" on the "special" tomato Salad? We have always loved Rizzutos - was very disappointed tonight!

My new friend recommended that we meet up at Rizzuto's. I came from out-of-town and it was very easy to find. The restaurant is quite romantic. We arrived an hour later than our reservation time but we were seated without a problem, even when we asked for a table outside. Inside it was loud because it was a Friday night but outside it was the perfect noise level for a first date -- quiet enough to talk but enough of other people's conversations to laugh at when we hit a lull. The menu was creative and authentic. Our waiter was in tune to our need to be left alone and he was perfectly engaging and disappearing. We stayed to 11! No one kicked us out.

My wife and I travel hard and have yet to find the combination of quality food & drink, ambiance and service we get at Rizzutos. John the Manager has a great staff and they always make a night out a special occasion! I have NEVER been to another restaurant that is consistently excellent like Rizzutos. We eat out 4+ times per week and have hit every "major" restaurant in the northeast. It is a great bang for the $ and the food is thoughtful, local/fresh and perfectly executed every time. The bar turns out great drinks and they carry the best micro brews around and even my favorite rye (Whistle Pig). Keep up the great work!!!! See you soon!

I am very impressed with this restaurant! I am a serious foodie and a service-snob, and Rizzuto's lived up to my high standards. We had an amazing server, who recommended delicious dishes and was very knowledgeable about the menu items and wine list. My husband and I really enjoyed the meat and cheese plate, risotto (a huge portion) and the funghi pizza. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for food was because the cheeses were cut incorrectly; Humbolt Fog has a delicious layer of ash running through it, and our slice did not include that. We were also impressed by the Happy Hour options ($5 Prosecco? Yes please!). But we were disappointed that they were out of oysters... Overall, we had a great first experience at Rizzuto's.

I usually enjoy the food here: pizza, pasta, salmon and the wine. This time I had the Veal Osso Bucco, which I did not care for. The veal was very tender, but I found the sauce salty and a little vinegar-y. It's the first time I've had the dish, so maybe it's just me. My husband had the lobster, which was very good. Our server was very pleasant, and we had great service. The place is a little noisy, with the wood décor and high ceiling. We were seated in a little alcove by a window, so it wasn't too bad this time.

We had to bring our boss for lunch, and he picked Rizzuto's. Easy to make the reservation, I was surprised to find the restaurant almost empty at 12.30 on a Friday. What made it even more surprising as the lunch went by was because the service was great, the food was great, and the prices were more than fair. This place should be bustling. Perhaps it's known more for the happy hour.
