Rizzo's is a very cool find! We loved the food! It was interesting without trying too hard, and each course had us excited about what would come next! The service was energetic, the decor is charming, and the location is excellent. Located in the South Main Arts district, Rizzo's Diner offers something for everyone while still providing a unique menu that is sure to please. This is a must-visit kind of place! We can't wait to go back!

The cheeseburger soup is everything that you wonder it will be. Our dinner was a little slow but it was Downtown Dining week and we had a large group. This would be a great place for dinner with friends and family, a date, or if you are in town on business and want to try something different than hotel restaurants.

I had the avacado salad ( would not recommend) a little bland for me. My husband had the cheeseburger soup and loved it. For the Entree I had the scallops and grits. the scallops were amazing and the lemon sauce it was in was great but the grits a little dry and heavy for me. My husband had the brisket and it was very good Pronto pups were the star of the evening.

What a great place! Food was excellent, especially the lobster pronto pups. The chicken pot pie was so good, and the dessert...yum! Our host was very gracious, and we enjoyed meeting the chef. The wine list needs help, though. Overall, Rizzo's rates very high on our list. A definite come back to resturant.

The waitress kept forgetting our orders, very noisy, my brisket was flavorful but very dry and they ran out of Cabernet! Their wariness selection was very small and cheap. The banana icecream sandwich dessert was a cheap bluebell I ram cream sandwich with honey and fruit. Not original and not very tasteful....

Based on many raving reviews, we tried Rizzo's Diner on a recent Friday night. We enjoyed the experience overall. The food was good and we were pleased to find out of the ordinary combinations to try. We tried the infamous lobster pups because where else can you try them? We thought they were ok - not a lot of lobster taste. We also tried the chicked taco appetizer and they had good flavor but could use some sauce to keep them from being quite so dry. Two of my dinner companions had the salmon and they enjoyed that. Another at our table had the skirt steak special and while he said it was very good, the portion size for a hungry man, was quite small. If you want a large portion, however, order the brisket w/mac & cheese, good flavor

My experience at Rizzo's was not a good one. My chicken tacos were bland, they had absolutely no flavor. It was very strange. My duck tamale pie was not tamale themed at all and literally had 4 strips of duck. The one saving grace was the dessert, which was amazing! Our server was nice, I was just so disappointed in the food.

We appreciate the ability to dine later (after 9 is considered later in Memphis). Chef Michael makes a point to visit diners' tables and ensure all is well. The wait staff is helpful and attentive with just the right amount of friendliness. We love the quinoa/avocado salad. The chorizo meatloaf with green tomatilla sauce is killer. As regular patrons we look forward to seeing more specials offered.

Food was interesting AND good. Service was strange, slow and spotty. Server had a hard time hearing us. Place is small, so server cannot fit around the table, so everything must be passed and that interrupts conversations. It was good enough that I will go back. I hope they get the service piece figured out.

Nice place, casual but with quality food. Smoked duck tamale pie (I think that's it) is an excellent appetizer (two people can easily share it). Scallops and grits is a great entree. They did a riff on a banana split that included an actual cheap ice cream sandwich that you could get at a convenience store. While I can see it as a fun, whimsical twist to take something plain and dress it up, my personal taste would argue to make their own high quality sandwich out of house churned ice cream and a house made cookie for the sandwich. Nonetheless, I highly recommend the place.

I was in Memphis for the weekend and went to this restaurant with my husband, sister, and mother after seeing them featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" - it was tasty food, but I did not care for the layout. It was a long and narrow room, with a single row of 4 tops along one side, and the kitchen on the left - definitely not good for large groups. We felt very crowded and had to scoot our table a few times to avoid bumping into the table next to us. The Lobster Pronto Pups, Ancho Chile Brisket, and Chorizo Meatloaf were tasty with interesting flavor profiles, however, I found the macaroni and cheese (that came with the brisket) and Cheeseburger Soup to be bland. Service was pleasant, but not overly impressive.

The food was simply outstanding. I had the Chorizo Meatloaf and my wife had the Swordfish. The were wonderful and reasoably priced. Our waiter did a very good job as well. However, we ordered a beer at 5:30 on a Friday night and they didn't have any cold beer or cold mugs. They brought out room temperature beer. This was bad enough, but after they put the initial round in the freezer for a few minutes and then brought out cool, if not cold, beers, they didn't think to go ahead and put some more in the freezer. We went through the exact same process when we ordered another round.

Food was very reasonabily priced for the quality/portion size. I had the scallops and grits and will definitely go back for seconds. My friend had the brisket, which was also delicious. I received a call from the chef/owner advising that their AC had gone out the day of our reservation. But, he had an alternative property around the corner that they used to accommodate us. Makes me appreciate the Open Table app, AND the restaurant even more.

As a native of New Orleans who grew up eating the cooking of his Creole grandmother... I have to say THANKS to Chef Michael. When a restaurant says they do Creole/Cajun I am ususally disappointed. So I checked-out Rizzo for lunch. The soup was unique and VERY TASTY, the sandwich was AWESOME, and their Peach Pie (I swear Chef Michael stole my Grandma's recipe). In summary, they do simple food with a little twist that produces GREAT TASTE. Whenever, I am downtown I will be heading to Rizzo for my Creole fix!!!

We had a fabulous dinner experience at Rizzo's! It is a small restaurant tucked in the South Main district. I had the yellow tomato bisque (yum!) and the vegetarian special of the evening (I'm not vegetarian but it sounded too good to pass up - white bean and goat cheese enchilada, black eyed pea chow chow, butter beans) and it was fantastic. My date had the meatloaf which was covered in an amazing gravy over smashed potatoes. I have never been disappointed in any of Chef Patrick's endevours, he always comes out to greet his diners - we will definitely be dining at Rizzo's again in the future!

Rizzo's was an unexpected treat for out of towner's not knowing the city. We looked for a byob place with a creative, well executed menu and feel like we hit the jackpot with Rizzo's. The lobster pups were perfect as was the soup of the day. My bride loved her stuffed avocado which was light but filling. My seared scallops with cheese grits were rich but not overwhelmingly so. The ice cream sandwich banana spit was amazing. We were greeted by the chef who took time to make sure everything was perfect. The menu was balanced and reasonably priced. If we lived here, Rizzo's would be a regular dining spot. If you enjoy wine, be sure to bring your favorite as Rizzo's does not have a wine list, but that's the way we like it!

I visited Rizzo's with my wife and 19 year old daughter for Father's day brunch. Although the place is relatively small (about 10 tables) we found it to be a comfortable and casual environment. All if our dishes were expertly executed with fresh, local, ingredients. The most notable was the Chorizo Meatloaf sandwich. On a grilled bun, with aoli and lettuce, it was the finest meatloaf and probably one of the top 10 sandwiches I've eaten. In addition to excellent food, the server was courteous and prompt , as well as the chef/owner stopped to check on each guest with a genuine and friendly tone. Great place for a casual meal.
