Diner Reviews
  • "The great food and the fanstastic view made for a memorable 30th wedding anniversary dinner."

  • "I have no complaints. Everything was excellent. The servers were marvellous. The view was stunning."

  • "The Revue Restaurant was very accommodating to our large group."

  • "The food I received was great - very tasty lamb rib appetizer with a peach sauce/glaze. The view was also excellent from the both the revolving and non-revolving portions of this top-floor venue. The service, however, was below average, beginning with the unmanned host/hostess station upon arrival, very slow to take drink and appetizer order, and slow to deliver. Entree never made it out. Much confusion / discussion amongst themselves about orders, etc. I asked for the check, then the waiter said they lost my order "in the back" and that was the reason for the delay. A few minutes later he came back saying my order was comp'd, and he apologized for the mix up. Very much an older crowd that night, too; I was one of the few under 60."

  • "Dinner and the service that Carl provided made our last night in Louisville memorable. Always leave room for desert, you won't be sorry."

  • " We had come to Louisville for the races at Church Hill Downs and to celebrate a birthday! My only complaint was that the piano was way too loud to the point I couldn't hear the waitress!! And she was standing right next to me!!! Either she had to speak up or the piano needed to pick a different tune!!! Food was good , view was great. And yes when we return to Louisville we will return!"

  • "You guys did everything right. Great food and great service."

  • "My steak came out way too over-cooked vs the way i ordered it. but the crab cake app was great, the potatoes with my meal were awesome! and my husband's meal was ok, he said. the dessert (he had something not on the menu b/c his birthday...white chocolate cream thing with berries...and i had the creme brulee) was amazing! and the candy served after dinner... cool thing to do! our server, David i think. I know his last name was something like Estrogen___. he was aweseome!!! drinks were ymmy! I loved the old fashion and the wine we both had was great!"

  • "Great food, lovely atmosphere, gorgeous view. The waiters were a little chatty but the service was definitely good. My wife and I decided to have a nice upscale dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Rivue fit the bill perfectly until some guy decided to bring his kids from the pool to walk through the restaurant. In the middle of our nice romantic meal about 6 kids came running through to look out the windows. It would not have been so bad if they had quietly come in and took a brief look but they were still in "pool mode." They were loud and lingered for quite a while. I don't know what made this guy think that was good idea. The manager came over and looked at them for a minute but never said anything to them."

  • "My adult children and I met in the middle (Louisville, KY) as we live in different states. Since we were staying at the Galt House we wanted to give this 25th floor restaurant a try. We were not disappointed. The ambiance was wonderful and our waiter Carl was very personable. He recommended the Seafood Giradelli and I really liked it - it was a healthy serving as well with generous seafood. He also recommended which dessert and these desserts are made in-house. We picked the raspberry-rhubarb crostada. It was delicious! We will definitely return to the Rivue for special occasions. Pricey and well worth the price!"

  • "This place seems to be hidden at 25 floors up... I just can't believe I haven't tried it before! It was the perfect place to have our anniversary. Beautiful room, absolutely beautiful view, and incredibly delicious cuisine. The live piano player played classic songs but numerous piano verisons of modern songs which was fun. We will be coming back without a doubt!!"

  • "The brunch at the Rivue is not as good as it used to be. There seemed to be less options from our last time eating there. We decided that there are more brunch options and so maybe the Rivue has scaled their brunch options down. The food was delicious, but the options were limited. Call in advance if you have a gift certificate from restaurant.com. We were told that we couldn't use anymore in the future. They allowed us to use it but warned that they may not accept them in the future."

  • "Service with an attitude - I loved it! Had a smart server who was entertaining as well as professional in doing his job. Very nice. Food was delicious, a bit overpriced, but for being on top of the Galt House and the view and everything else, it was expected. Drinks were delicious, but overpriced ... what else can you expect from a hotel restaurant?!"

  • "We love the Rivue for brunch. The view is amazing, the food is GREAT! Made to order omelets, sausage/bacon and Belgian waffles make up the breakfast options. The lunch items vary from visit to visit and we always enjoy wondering what we will get to try. Everything is fresh and delicious. Service is friendly and plates are removed quickly to avoid staring at dirty dishes between visits to the buffet. The last visit we got to hear live jazz on a piano in the middle of the buffet. It was a great addition to the ambiance of an already great meal."

  • "I bought my sister to Rivue (6/22/14) for her birthday. I had been once before in March for another family members birthday celebration. Both times the food was so good and I love the view. I feel like such a grown up when I come. It's quickly becoming one of my favorites. I will be visiting again at night the next time. Our server Janikia (I know I'm spelling it wrong and I'm sorry) was nice and very welcoming. There was a young man who cleared away our finished plates who was also very nice. Sometimes fancy restaurants can be overwhelming and a little shadiddy, but this one is so comfortable and welcoming. Thank you again for such a lovely experience. I will be back."

  • "I was slightly hesitant about making reservations here for our special occasion based on the few negative reviews by previous diners. Everything was great. The crab cakes, the New York strip, and the desserts were wonderful. The views from the rotating dining room and the live piano music made our experience 5 stars. We will return for future celebrations."

  • "We celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary at the Rivue. Everything was perfect. And I do mean everything. From the hostess who greeted us, to the table, to the view, to the food, to the waitress. Everything was perfect. I think it was the best dining experience we have ever had."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "I really liked the view, and the fact that it revolves. The food and service were excellent. The one negative was the decor was a little out-of-date, but in no way detracted from the meal."

  • "We celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary, and so we had a great time. Great Food, great service, and overall great experience."

  • "This was a special Father's Day buffet, so we paid a premium price. When we left, we felt that our money had been wasted. The buffet was billed as an "all you can eat prime rib" event. There was no choice in the "doneness" of the meat. It was all well done, and it was dry. All of the other meat on the buffet was fried. The only vegetables were mashed potatoes and green beans. The green beans were mushy and full of strings. Very dry macaroni and cheese was on the line also! The only redeeming factors about the buffet were the "salad" bar and the desserts. Service was good, and the staff were friendly. We have decided not to return to the Rivue because of our experience."

  • "We wanted a special place to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary and we could not have picked a better place! The entire experience was wonderful! The staff, manager, and chefs went above and beyond for us. We brought our cake topper with us not knowing what it would look like/taste like and the manager actually asked us if she could take it and decorate it so it would be special for us. The pastry chef and manager personally walked it out and congratulated us. It was an incredible experience and I'm so glad we decided to spend our special night their. It's a must go place!!"

  • "Got the scallops for an appetizer, which was very, very good. Got the NY strip for dinner, which I believe was probably the best steak I have ever eaten. Service was not great, but it wasnt necessarily bad. Waitress was a little neglectful at times. Waiter for another table was obnoxiously loud. View was worth it. Pianist was great. I would definitely go back. Chef has some serious skills."

  • "Kids enjoyed the view and the piano player. The selection of good was okay but delicious"

  • "Our evening at Rivue should have been great. The view was beautiful. It was a gorgeous evening. The menu is interesting and the food was quite good. But frankly the service spoiled the evening. Slow to take orders. Slow to serve. Food was not hot when it arrived. Glasses didn't get refilled. The poor waiter was overwhelmed with too many tables. And no other servers being attentive. Oh, plus the revolving restaurant wasn't revolving. Rivue should be an excellent high end restaurant. That service may be okay with hotel guests who come once, but as a Louisville foodie, it will likely keep me away."

  • "The food was delicious, the service was great - can't say enough about our server - he was one of the best we've ever had, atmosphere was amazing. Could not give this place a higher recommendation!!"

  • "This was our first time at rivue and it was wonderful!! The food was great and the atmosphere was very quiet and romantic. The staff made sure we were happy and well taken care of. I would definitely go again and recommend it for a relaxing evening. "

  • "Excellent service (thank you stephen). Amazing table with river view (rotating floor not working). Aged bone in ribeye mostly fat and under cooked. Seafood and pasta dish was store bought shell noodles with tomato paste and canned seafood pieces. For some reason the $9 drinks on the menu ended up being $11.50 on the bill. $175 out the door. Quess we paid for the view"

  • "Waiter was outstanding, offering wine pairing suggestions for main courses. Food delivery of courses was timely and well spaced. He was responsive to requests and quick to catch our requests for assistance. Food quality was excellent and fresh ingredients, portions were ample but not huge (which is fine). Dishes were skillfully prepared with emphasis on healthy ingredients. One of our entrees was outstanding while the other was only ok with very mild flavor. Overall, considering the total dining experience we look forward to another visit."

  • "We received $100 gift card from Restuarant.com. I called Rivue the day before our reservation to clarify that we could use all 100 during our visit. We were assured that we COULD use the entire $100 from Restuarant.com for our meal. We ordered 3 courses and a bottle of wine and were having a great date night. When the bill came, we gladly handed over our coupons. We were told we could use $25 out of the $100 for our meal. I even spoke with the manager. She was accusing, not helpful, and not quick to honor the word or make anything right. I explained that I called at this specific time and spoke with a lady who assured it was okay and now we are left to pay $130 more than expected. We will NOT be returning to eat there ever again."

  • "I would highly recommend Rivue to anyone! Especially for a couple looking for a romantic evening out. The rotating room and beautiful view aren't all it has going for itself. Also lovely piano music and delicious food. All adds up to a wonderful evening. "

  • "If you haven't been to Rivue; you just have to go!! Everything is taken care of: they ask up front when you arrive if it is a special occasion, and they also validate your parking. The music is energetic, and halfway thru dinner there was a live pianist. We sat in the revolving dining room, so we had a constantly great view. Everything was perfect from the drinks, engaging/attentive staff, crab cakes/scallops appetizers, salads, duck/chicken dinners, and creme brulee for dessert. We were just about to burst, when the candy cart came around so of course we had to have chocloate strawberries and cherries. What an amazing romantic and delicious dining experience. "

  • "I can not beleive how outstanding my fiance and myselve's experience at thr Rivue was. Now that I have been and have seen what the resrurant is all about, I will without doubt be coming back again and again. I absolutley love this place so much that I deem it #1 in my mind. I have been to Ruth Chris and Vinccinzo's and I would much rather go to the Rivue than those resturants and any other resturants in Louisville of course. Like the title says, one of a kind! "

  • "I had made my reservation in advance and all the seats were not taken so we were not pleased with our view. We sat by a window, looking at the eastend, very close to other couples at a tiny table. With an advance reservation we should have been made more of a priority with better seating. "

  • "Horrible, horrible food. Salmon was incredibly overcooked AND had an horrible mushy texture that leads me to believed it was frozen and then defrosted improperly. It was the worst meal (and one of the most expensive) we had during our stay in Ky. The cauliflower purée was too sweet and had a really odd texture- too much like baby food. Dining companion had the "crispy skin duck." The duck was cooked properly but the skin was NOT crispy. We decided I will have to make my duck breast at home soon to make up for the lack of crispy yumminesss there. "
