  • "Great food, nice ambience, nice view of the river. I appreciated the opportunity to make reservations on line. I'd go back."

  • "Very nice restaurant with great view of the York River, very friendly and cheerful hostesses, outside dining with setting sun a preferred seating for a full view of the river and the Gloucester shoreline. Seating out front of the restaurant with the beautiful fountain makes it's location a pleasure and romantic especially after the sun has set and people stroll pass."

  • "We used the Open Table app and were able to reserve a table within one-half hour. I think we were given a table with a great view because we made reservations, so I highly recommend doing that. The food was very good and served promptly. Service was excellent. Very pleased with the ease of reservation and the dining experience."

  • "First our table overlooked the York River it was a beautiful view. Our Waiter was very knowledgeable and suggested a wonderful bottle of wine. The Paella was a dinner special and it was delicious. My Girlfriend has some dietary restrictions and the staff was very accommodating. This is definitely a special occasion place for us, due to the price. It was overall a great dining experience."

  • "Service was pretty good. starter Oysters were good, wine was good, salad I ordered was missing an ingredient which the waiter try to make up for by bringing me a minimal amount based on the rest of the salad portion. Overall I would go back again if I was in the area."

  • "We very much enjoyed our Brunch at Riverwalk on Sunday. The views can't be beat and the food was very good. One of the hostesses was not friendly at all, not even a smile or acknowledgement you are there. However, once you get passed her, the service was very good. Highly recommend this place for a nice outing on a beautiful day."

  • "Great food, prices, ambiance, waitress and view of the river. I took my husband there to celebrate Father's Day. What a good choice! We had a great time and will definitely return."

  • "What a great location! The view of the river and the bridge is spectacular, which makes up for the very strange menu. The portions are far too large with too many sauces added to everything. Fish and chips was fine, but the veal chop/ pasta was smothered with thick sauce and pasta (far too much), and the fish tacos were too spicy without warning. Our waiter was fantastic, and we brought our own wine, so that made up for it! I'd still go back just to sit outside and enjoy the waterside view."

  • "While the outdoor dining with a view of the river was quite pleasant, the service was slow and somewhat bumbling. Dinner items were substituted without our being asked and the after-dinner coffee was tepid when served. We we not asked if we wanted refills on drinks or water. If I'm going to spend a significant amount for dinner, I'll do so elsewhere next time. "

  • "Enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the outdoor patio. The waitress, Jennifer was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and specials. I had the Fish of the Day which consisted of Salmon, shrimp and lobster bites over baby potatoes and broccoli. The presentation of the food was beautiful. "

  • "We had an early dinner on the patio and it was really great. The oysters are some of the best. We would recommend this for anyone wanting to relax after a Yorktown tour. "

  • "The food and service have always been great for lunch and brunch. Our experience this time, however, was not as positive. I believe that they were a bit understaffed that evening, for it took a while to get served and to receive the food. The seafood sauces were a bit spicy, and the fish and oysters had a rather strong taste. I will return for lunch, for I am hoping that this was just an off night. I recommend that tablecloths be used, for fine food deserves to be served in a professional, yet relaxed, atmosphere. "

  • "We've been celebrating special occasions at the Riverwalk Restaurant for 8 or 9 years. In less than a year's time, it seems the menu variety is half what it used to be and the quality of the food has fallen very noticeably. Where did the Chicken Oscar and incredible hot turkey sandwich go? Filet mignon used to be an elegant presentation, topped with house made glaze or bbq sauce, potatoes rich with fine cheeses, tender vegetables, and a variety of freshly baked bread. My most recent filet came with mashed potatoes that were nothing special, barely-cooked ordinary veggies, and rolls that may well have been take and bake from the store. No glaze or bbq sauce, just herbed butter. For the first time ever, I left half my plate. "

  • "I expected it to be good but not great since it is in such a good location ( i.e. tourist trap), but was I wrong. The view is fantastic, the food exceeded my expectations ( fyi, i went to cooking school so I should know). The service was perfect ( thank you Jennifer). It was our first time to the River Walk, we could not decide between this restaurant or the one next door, so they held our reservation and waited for us to go look at the other restaurant to check it out. Very nice of them! My wife had the seafood tower very good. (Ask them to leave off the old bay , if you do not like that) The $ is about what you would expect and I felt the experience was well worth the $. ( not true in most places now a days). We already plan to return!"

  • "Great location for outdoor dining. The food is not very good. We ordered the calamari appetizer to start. The calamari was over cooked and had too many conflicting flavors on the plate. If you break the plate down to just the marinera sauce and feta it would be much better. I am not real sure who thought it was a good idea to drench the plate with balsamic vinager. My wife ordered the crabcake dinner with orzo pasta. She did say the crabcakes were good but the orzo was way over cooked and bland. I ordered the pulled pork BBQ special with baked oysters and cornbread. Pork was good but the oysters were terrible they appeared to have been sitting out and reheated. Very expensive for low quality food we would not go back. "

  • "We had a party of two. The entrees were great, the caesar salad was a new take on the theme, and the service was attentive. We'll definitely go back again. "

  • "No check for adult drink refills. Ziti terrible. Food warmers didn't keep the food warm. Buffet selections adequate. Line to get the food was a bit chaotic. Not a typical. visit Would no doubt have done better ordering from the menu."

  • "Was crowded and very loud. The food was good, not great. The issue was the service. Renee was our server. She was polite, but not attentive. We ordered wine and after the first pour, never re-filled. She never refilled water until we asked. Had asked about substituting an item on the seafood appetizer and she forgot to ask the chef. When they brought the entrees out (about 30 minutes later), it was then that I was told they were out of the Swordfish that I had ordered. I do not blame the server for that, but the chef for not notifying her. When the manager came over (don't remember her name), she was belligerent and also blamed the chef instead of taking responsibility. They did comp my entrée, but her attitude was poor. Would not recommend."

  • "Took my mother in law here for Mother's Day. We have been here a few times over the past years and had marginal experiences but since it is such a great location, I thought I would give it one last try. Here is my sense -- it is for tourists as the management doesn't seem to want to improve and warrant return visits by locals. The location is great if you are lucky enought to be seated outside or next to a window. Decor is nice enough although the interior seems to bounce noise around making it exceptionally loud. The service we received was slow and hit or miss (forgot the bread, couldn't keep orders straight). The food is pricey. Mine was cold and somewhat flavorless. Ice cream was melted. Felt strongly - so wrote this review. "

  • "My friend and I had a 1:00 PM reservation after our tour of the beautiful Yorktown homes which were a part of Virginia Garden Week. We were seated within ten minutes and, per my request, had a wonderful table by the window where we were able to view the York River. I had a bowl of tomato crab bisque which was absolutely delicious; however, the fried oyster appetizer was somewhat dry and too chewy. My friend had a crab sandwich which she said was very good and had little extra breading. Our waitress was very attentive and overall, we enjoyed our time there and in Yorktown as a whole."

  • "A lovely place for a special Sunday brunch, Riverwalk had a wonderful selection of both breakfast and lunch-time fare. It was attractively presented, and the service staff was attentive and pleasant. Overall, a beautiful location to enjoy a sunny, scenic and relaxing brunch--never feeling hurried, but very satisfied by the whole experience."

  • "Hubby took me for a nice dinner. We ordered. Mine had overcooked, limp broccolini, but the main issue was that I had ordered salmon. Another strange fish was substituted, without letting us know. We sent it back. I was brought a dish of better brocollini. My husband began his dinner, and I waited for mine. 20+ minutes later, mine arrived. My husband had finished his meal. I was no longer hungry, at this point. So much for dinner TOGETHER! The manager apologized, didn't charge for MY dinner, but took a measly 10% off the total bill. I could not believe the whole dinner was ruined for us. "

  • "I've been to my share of holiday brunches and well, this one tops the list! Prime Rib, unlimited jumbo shrimp and oysters, mussels, lamb, ham, crab cakes to die for, fresh salads (a choice no less), salmon, chicken, omelet station, frittata, pancakes/french toast, smoked salmon, okay are you getting the gist? A lot of yummy stuff that was served fresh and plentiful. The $35.00 price tag was well worth it. Beautiful table, no rushing, great service, choice of desserts. A true value. We love Riverwalk for the ambiance and food and have had many dinners there both alone and it is a "must do" for our guests from afar when they visit us. Overall, a wonderful experience albeit I did not eat for the remainder of the day I was so full!"

  • "We have dined many times at the Riverwalk restaurant and have always enjoyed it. The view cannot be beat and the food and service is always top notch. This was our first visit to a buffet and we were very pleased both by the presentation and flavor. We didn't sample every dish. There were so many! But those we had were delicious. The roasted lamb with mint sauce was my favorite, but I must confess my wife and I enjoyed the jumbo shrimp and the "make your own" cocktail sauce. Our server was so gracious and helped make the whole experience more memorable. It was a lovely way to celebrate Easter."

  • "The food was magnificent! The set up of the brunch line left a bit to be desired. It doesn't appear that the restaurant is laid out for that type of venue. We had to wait for our waitress to bing us plates for a second serving and the wait was overly long, in fact, I had to find our waitress and have her clear our used plates. She also never rrefilled my tea glass until I finally was able to find her. She was proabably new, but still terribly ineffective. The restaurant, once it irons out those snafus, will definitely be on our list for next year! Respectfully, George Wargo"

  • "Gaging from previous reviews we expected good quality food with imaginative preparation. Instead this experience was Bubba's .... OK for lunch but overrated for dinner. This restaurant does not deserve to be on Opentable"

  • "Riverwalk has recently changed their menu. They have gone from a very appealing menu to extremely ordinary fare. The rest of the restaurant is still good. But I can get the same food for half the price elsewhere now with their menu change."

  • "A beautiful site with great food and warm friendly service. Walking along the Riverwalk adjacent to the restaurant before or after dinner is an added benefit. As we arrived early, we decided to walk through historic Yorktown which was just above the riverside location of the restaurant."
