The walk along the waterfront before dinner was nice. The staff - hostess and server (Courtney) - were cordial and competent; staff was tolerant of late arrival of our dinner partners, arrival later of their son, and of his staying for dinner at our table for four. Then we stayed until we were almost last to leave. Throughout we were made to feel they were glad we were there and happy to accommodate us in whatever was our pleasure. I think we were congenial customers, but we did place demands on the service that went above the usual. A foodie likely would not have raved about the food, but we certainly enjoyed it. We weren't pressured to rush and were told to take our time ordering and with drinks after dinner. My lobster ravioli was outstanding! We discovered the restaurant six years ago when our daughter decided to attend the College of William and Mary. The portions were small, but the dishes were filling. The server was really nice, and made sure we were taken care of. I am not fond of waiting staff that are constantly asking questions. Ours left us alone to enjoy our meal, but made sure the drinks were refilled and nothing was needed. The menu is very original and not too overwhelming. The food was excellent and the service quick and thoughtful. The noise level became a little loud when a child became excited but after a very short outburst, the noise went back to a comfortable murmur. We celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary without a hitch. I went online to check out the menu, so I did not have any surprises. It is a little pricey for casual dining, so we usually only go to Riverwalk for something special. It's got a great view of the river and the food was cooked to perfection. We enjoyed our meal so much when we were there last year and hoped to go there again. Although the menu has changed, we both enjoyed our dinner, and will certainly eat there again. Excellent!What a wonderful place to celebrate Easter with our family. The Restaurant was a great mid-way spot for my daughter at ODU in Norfolk and we living in Richmond.The view was fabulous of the York River and the Rt 17 Bridge and the whole ambiance of the building and area. My daughter has a gluten intolerance and they were more that willing to find exactly the right meal for her. She had a modified Blue Plate and they fixed everything with no breading, fresh crab meat, shrimp cocktail and oysters on half shell. She was very happy. Not one person at our table had a single complaint about their food. We had grouper, fried shrimp, lobster ravioli,crab cakes, crab imperial, sauteed shrimp,and She Crab soup.
