  • "We couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate our anniversay together! We spend 3 hours between the bar and restaurant and never felt rushed to leave. We enjoyed an amazing 5 course meal and each other's company. I would definitely recommend the Riverview Restaurant for anyone who wants a delicious meal, romantic atmosphere, and wonderful staff!"

  • "Lovely short drive and setting amid tall majestic fir trees along the river! Deck seating also available outside. Linens and candle lit tables. Piano player playing background music on a grand piano to set a dining mood. Indoor fireplace and plank flooring with lots of large windows looking over the deck with glimpses of the river beyond. Park-like setting outside beyond the deck. Lots of parking available with sidewalks to your vehicle. Lovely bar with very competent bar tenders. Meals from $25-$35. This was a special occasion for our 30th wedding anniversary....Will return to this restaurant! Our lady server prepared bananas foster at tableside with flair and ease. She mentioned she loves doing this dessert! Knowledgeable of the menu."

  • "I like this place. They have a good food, good atmosphere and usually their services are good too. But this night, the waitress was bad. She didn't tell us what their special for the night. She didn't bring bread. When I pointed out, she just said "I didn't?". No apologies or she didn't even try to make it up. When we asked about menu, she just gave us her guess, she didn't even try to ask their kitchen. It was worst waitress I've ever experienced at "fine dining" place. I hope they'll improve about it by next time I go...."

  • "A nice enough restaurant and dining experience. We went there for our seventh wedding anniversary and based on what I saw on their website, I was expecting a more elegant dining experience. It wasn't so much the restaurant, but when you're dressed nicely for a special occasion and then see a good number of people in jeans and other attire you expect to see at Denny's, it sort of kills the mood. People in Oregon, in general, have no clue how to dress. Back to the restaurant; all hard surfaces made it seem loud and a bit difficult to converse. The crab ravioli and the prime rib were excellent, however the horse radish had no bite. My wife loved the mushroom soup appetizer. Service was acceptable."

  • "Everything was wonderful, great food and staff. But I purchased and paid for the special $50/ $100 I brought the sheet with the reservation number - but forgot to print out a "COUPON" - so we were unable to get the "special" I was hoping for - is there anything I can do.... the 4 of us had a great evening..... the special Prime Rib was delicious! Thanks for your reply, Peggy"

  • "We go to the Riverview once or twice a year and are never unhappy with the food. This time we had a fantastic server, Cassie, who was friendly, knowledgeable about the food on the menu, delightful and did everything to make our time enjoyable. Unfortunately this visit, something must have gotten messed up with the food order because it took 45 minutes to get our dinner after finishing the soup. Cassie did everything she could for us during that wait time and did not blame others for the delay. Thankfully we had no where to go so it was an enjoyable family dinner with lots of conversation and there were complimentary desserts for all of us. Who could complain!!!!!"

  • "This was our 3rd trip to this restaurant - we come here annually when we are staying at nearby Edgefield, finding it superior to the Black Rabbit restaurant. The food was quite good, the prices are reasonable - but as other reviewers have noted at other sites - the service can be glacial. Our waiter was exceedingly polite and pleasant - no complaints there - but we saw him far too infrequently and, despite the fact that the dining room was less than half full, our food took a very long time to arrive once we ordered it. I think they're either understaffed on waiters, or they're just not very experienced - I'm not sure which."

  • "Beautiful location on the Sandy River. Stunning views from inside the restaurant. Decor simple yet elegant. Plenty of space between the tables. Wine list very impressive w/plenty of "glass choices". Lovely little warm single loaves of bread w/a whipped butter Servings plentiful, presentation not fluffy but simply plated. Ravioli w/fresh crab was delicious. Panko coveted seafood skewers with mashed and The Best Mixed Vegetables, cooked perfectly. Bacon wrapped filet was exquisite as were the Su Mai appetizers. Service was fun, friendly attentive and just right. Creme Brûlée and Berry Crumble were the perfect end to a perfect meal."

  • "Riverview continues to be our favorite place to dine. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere is beautiful and we love the outdoor dining in the summer along the Sandy river. Well worth the drive."

  • "This restaurant is a gem, not far from the city. It is nestled among tall trees and beautiful shrubs and located right next to the River making it a delight to dine here. This place is especially wonderful to dine at during the warm months so outside seating is possible."

  • "I had a groupon to use up and wasn't sure what to expect. The food was positively delicious though it was slow to arrive. I was there early and not too many people had arrived yet so not too sure what the delays were. The management did comp a dessert as compensation though. Quite nice staff, view and food."

  • "The restaurant is always welcoming even on a rainy evening since there is a fireplace. Delicious food and very nice waitstaff."

  • "The menu and facilities are old-school upper class, and the live piano or guitar soft jazz are a great accompaniment. Food quality is quite good, but overall, the entree prices are too high for what we've received. Groupon makes up that difference somewhat. We had an appetizer, shared a small salad, each had our own entree, and each had one glass of wine. No dessert. Total with tip and the price of the groupon was just over $80. Decent for a special occasion. We may try coming back when the weather allows outdoor seating to see if that's a good experience, or whether bugs are a problem."

  • "I first experienced Riverview at a wonderful retirement party for a friend. The location along the Sandy River is beautiful, especially in good weather when you can dine out on the lovely large deck area complete with fire pits. I decided to return for dinner with a friend and wasn't disappointed. Our waiter was very attentive and the timing of the service was spot on. Really enjoyed the Island Oasis drink and my Caesar salad was very good. For an entree I had the Creole Chicken which was terrific. And don't miss the chocolate espresso tart, delicious! I also love the cozy indoor fireplaces which add to the comfortable dining experience. Definitely would recommend to friends. Looking forward to dining on the patio this summer!"

  • "First visit. Arrived early & waited in bar. Given a window table. A large private party in a separate room. Our waiter, kept telling us that soon it wouldn't be so hectic and he could pay more attention to us. Unfortunately, that never happened. Waited 20 minutes to order. We were never asked if we wanted another cocktail. Appetizers arrived after another 15 min. & after an hour I asked the mgr why we still were not served our entrees. Within 5 minutes we had our food. The mgr. took the cost of the appetizers off of our bill. The food was excellent. They need more staff on busy nights. Frustrating evening. Before you reserve, ask if there is a large group expected. If so, don't go that night."

  • "We arrived at the time of our 6:45pm reservation; however, a large group took up over half the restaurant and our hostess apologized as she seated us at a small table right in the main flow of traffic. A small pedestal separated us from the main walkway. Our service started out well but declined as the evening went on. Toward the end of our entree, the large group began congregating in the walkway behind us; the noise level rose and my husband and I could no longer converse. We have enjoyed winemaker dinners and celebrated many occasions here and all have been lovely, but we enjoyed good seating. When making reservations, I would suggest asking if a large party will be in attendance. If so, I would go another night or change venues."

  • "This is our second trip to Riverview, and we were nervous that our first trip was so good that we'd be expecting too much this time. Not so! We loved it even more this time!!! Great food, service, and setting."

  • "Service was ridiculously slow, 15 mins to get water then meet waiter, then approx visits every 20 mins or so. Total time sitting at table, dining for two, 2 hrs, way to long for how muchthe place was no packed."

  • "This is a beautiful restaurant in a wonderful setting by the Sandy River. We loved the won ton appetizers. The steak and prime rib were very good. I was a little disappointed in the horseradish sauce. It was more like shredded horseradish instead of the customary creamy sauce. Salads were great. Service was perfect. We were there with my Mom & Dad (who is hard of hearing). We were initially seated right next to the piano. We had to move to a table farther away from the wonderful piano music because my Dad couldn't hear our conversation I would definitely go back, but next time I would sit in the bar or somewhere we could also order off the bar menu."

  • "We were out in Troutdale for some rest and sightseeing and instead of going into Portland we decided to stay local. The restaurant was duly romantic- a beautiful view over the gorge, a great pianist (who played our song for a small tip), and nice servers. We were the youngest of the couples we saw there, but we were treated very well- that always stands out to me. My husband loved the bread and honey butter, and his Chicken and Rice soup, I had a very good Cesar salad. The slight downer was the entrees. I ordered the miso salmon and wild rice which was very good, but both our accompanying vegetables were cooked like they were for a retirement home. The same goes for my hubby's expensive steak.....bland, grey, not at all worth the price."

  • "Riverview is always a choice for us when it comes to a place to go for dinner. The menu has a variety of choices, the view of the Sandy River, winter or spring, is beautiful, and the servers are friendly and attentive."

  • "Riverview Restaurant is an outstanding experience on a busy night. I have severe food intolerances/sensitivities to gluten, dairy, soy and fish. When I put in a reservation through Open Table I noted this in my reservation. Riverview assigned a waitress knowledgeable in food intolerances and she took great care with my order. I had the bacon wrapped filet; my partner had the prime rib. He and I both thought our meals were delicious! The live piano added so much to the ambiance of the evening. What started out as a nice, relaxing night out turned into a romantic night out because the atmosphere was so enticing! The restaurant was 3/4 full -- this was perfect! Perfect 'vibe' for the night!"

  • "The restaurant was mostly quit, as we were having an early dinner. There was live music and the bar was packed with happy hour customers. The special was great. And then their carrot cake. 2 die 4!"
    Dined on 2/20/2014
  • "We actually had a good time overall, since the atmosphere was nice, including live music. However it's a restaurant, so the most important thing is the food. The food was very very very bland. There is absolutely no reason to put their food in your mouth."

  • "My wife's seafood skewer was excellent. She enjoyed it for dinner and lunch the next day. My swordfish was overcooked; however, I didn't send it back because it was still tasty though much drier than the waiter made me believe it would be."

  • "A valentine's dinner experience that was memorable! A pianist to add atmosphere for the evening, the Sandy River and fir trees to provide visual "eye-candy", and an excellent and attentive service staff was offered to us at the Riverview. The evening dining by the river made for an exceptional Valentine's Day for us-- right here in our own home town! Kudos."
