The menu choices were great and
the service was very friendly. It was a very nice meal."

We had to wait quite awhile for
our food but it was worth the wait. The food was really good & our waitress was really nice. They were fairly busy but she kept checking on us & reassured us our food was on its way. Will definitely go back again."

Great food especially pastas. The
Italian sausage pasta is awesome and enough for two dinners. At about $20 avg. plate, a great dinner option!"

The Riverside Grill is one of our
favorites. We have yet to find something we do not like. We are locals and dine there often. Courteous help and reasonable prices. I would recommend Riverside and Cebu lounge to anyone."

Great menu with delicious variety
of breakfast, lunch and dinner using local foods."

We enjoyed this place the first
time by referral from Urban Spoon...then 2 years later we returned to the area for a weekend and made sure that we dined there again. Salmon and Rib eye- fantastic! Chocolate torte- yumm! Our server was amazing and so accommodating - sending our leftovers with plates and flatware for later ( we were staying in the hotel). Beautiful riverside table, candlelit dining room- just wonderful. Breakfast the next morning was also great!"

This restaurant has a gorgeous
view of the Columbia River, and when the weather is warm you can enjoy it from the outside deck. We have always enjoyed the food here. We usually have one of the pasta dishes, and gluten free pasta is available. Great wine selection, too. Highly recommend!"

my birthday included a full moon &
to make sure i could watch it rise, i left portland for the east side of the cascades & chose the Riverside Restaurant as being most likely to have the view i desired. it is located right at the edge of the columbia river & the moon indeed rose full from behind the river bluffs on the washington side. everyone in the restaurant knew i wanted a good view & took extra care to make sure i was at the best table for moon viewing & that my sweetheart & myself could share the same side, thus sharing the wonderful view. the food was excellent & everyone was so friendly & sweet about it being my birthday: i even ate dessert, on the house, & it was delicious; warm & spicy & seasonal! (not normal for me!) thanks~!"

We had been looking forward to
driving up from Gresham to experience the Riverside dining for some time. The ambience was very pleasant on a cloudy afternoon. On a sunny day, it would have been fabulous. Our table, though inside because of weather, was right on the river with amazing views. We even took pix."

There seemed to be an air of gloom
over the employees at this restaurant. We were greeted without any eye contact. The person that poured our water barely talked and when we asked how hw was doing he held his head low and just muttered OK. It took 30 minutes before our drink order was taken and another 15 to actually get drinks. The lace was not crowded and some servers were just standing around. We almost just left. But the restaurant redeemed itself with the food. It was delicious, and attractively presented! Shame on management for creating and or allowing such bad attitudes."
Dined on 10/8/2013
The food was terrific and the view
of the Columbia River was perfect. Our server was knowledgeable and had a great personality."
Dined on 10/5/2013
The Riverside is integral to the
Best Western hotel. Both are wonderful values. We ate there twice, and enjoyed quality, well-priced food. And they accommodated my food allergies. I highly recommend both."
Dined on 10/1/2013
We had outstanding food and
service. Steven told us about the history of the place and made us feel very comfortable. We would definitely go again"
Dined on 9/27/2013
I enjoyed the most perfectly
prepared freshly caught salmon. The staff was attentive but not smothering and the view of the river was beautiful."
Dined on 9/23/2013
Beautiful day, outstanding view,
great service, good food and company. Would definitely go there again"

Our server Maria was a burst of
sunshine! She seams to really care about the customers.. She made great suggestion on what to have ...loved the cole slaw."
Dined on 9/15/2013
This restaurant was very nice.
View was great and the fresh caught king salmon was excellent."
Dined on 9/5/2013
I agree with the previous reviewer
who said to not be swayed by its location in the Best Western. Despite the location within the Columbia River Gorge and Oregon Wine country, the possibilities of good to great food are sorely limited. The food here is better that passible although the wine list could be better given the varieties available. The view is impressive."
Dined on 8/6/2013
We sat outside and enjoyed that
view of the river. It was a bit breezy, but still worth the it. The food was quite good too."
Dined on 8/1/2013
Nice restaurant with a great view
of the Columbia River Gorge scenic area in Hood River. The food was very good and the views even better. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Hood River."

we enjoy Brunch or late Lunch with
a small group of friends at your beautiful Cafe by the River. Also like to show off this spot to our out-of -town guests, especially our friends fro Southern Cali. are amazed at the scenery. We always had great service and choice of food, and wine."
Dined on 7/21/2013
Beautiful night - great food,
impeccable service, and a stunning view. Fresh wild salmon, cooked perfectly. Fantastic pasta dishes with unique flavor combinations. The service of the entire staff was top notch without being over the top or stuffy. Very relaxing and enjoyable environment."
Dined on 7/9/2013
The food was uneventful and my
nicoise salad was a can of tuna fish with a few black olives and slightly wilted lettuce for $14.00 The view is nice, right on the river and it's quite so you can visit with your friends."
Dined on 7/6/2013
Riverside grill is the perfect
river view dining location in Hood River. Great pasta and fish and chips!"

I will admit that I would be one
of first people to dismiss the potential of a restaurant in a Best Western, but I am happy to admit I was wrong. We had breakfast at the Riverside before a long bike ride. The location was convenient and the restaurant opens early. The service was fast and professional and the food was very good. The view of the Columbia didn't hurt either. I would definitely stop in again the next time I'm in the area."

We decided on this restaurant
because it was highly rated on Trip Advisor but were not impressed. It has a very nice location right on Hood River but we weren't impressed with the food or atmosphere otherwise. It's your typical dated hotel restaurant (old and tired decor) and I think the menu focus is more on quantity than quality (the salmon cake appetizer was extremely under-seasoned). We had a much better dining experience in town the night before and will definitely be trying another restaurant on our next visit."

I was with a group of 6. Our
outside table put me directly under a huge potted plant. I was glad it didn't have an automatic watering system! Our waitress was nice but after waiting quite awhile to give her our order, we waited forever to get the actual food. All the tables around us that came in after us had their food and were finishing up before we even got our food. The food itself was marginal. The flank steak was tough, undercooked and the sautéed red onion soggy green/red pepper combination was over cooked. One person in our group had to send her plate back due to the rawness of the flank steak! Like I said, I'm so glad it was a beautiful evening next to the water with great friends or it would have been a bad dining experience!"

We had king salmon and perfectly
cooked exactly as ordered. They had a menu to make us all happy which included vegetarians, meat eaters, health nuts and all. A health-oriented menu Michael Pollan would approve of and also yummy. Very good advice about local wines, excellent service. Highly recommend."

This was our first time here
visiting from Portland. When we drive into the parking lot of the Best Western Hotel, I thought my GPS was taking us to the wrong place even though it was on the river. We were seated promptly right next to window with a great view of the river, poured a great cup of coffee and from there I knew we were in the right place. The food was unique and delicious for breakfast tempting for both children and adults...we look forward to our next visit."
Dined on 6/15/2013
Outstanding food and service -
great outdoor seating on the deck overlooking the Columbia River Gorge. Very efficient and pleasant staff. Excellent service without being stuffy and dramatic! Food was inventive and scrumptious with well sourced ingredients."
Dined on 6/4/2013
Our party enjoyed the grilled
salmon/nicoise salad special, ribeye with gnocchi, fish & chips, and the creamy gnocchi dinners. We sat on the deck and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the view. We shared and passed around two desserts which were delectable. Our server was both attentive and friendly. For an enjoyable and delicious meal, why would we go anywhere else?"
Dined on 5/31/2013
The location of this restaurant is
great. Go for the view because the food is mediocre. Our waiter tried to make out like he was in some very exclusive high end establishment but knew little about wines and even less about what he was serving. I had very bland salmon that he said would be served medium rare, about 125-130F, but it arrived more like 140-145F and was almost to the point of being returned . My wife and I each had a very mediocre salad, Caesar and Spinach, fresh catch entrees, and we shared a 1/2L of a pretty good red blend from Viento vineyards, no dessert and the bill was $93 not including tip; way overpriced for the quality of the food served. Go to Nora's Kitchen for a better and less expensive meal."
Dined on 5/23/2013
it was an unusually warm night and
not windy, so sitting outside on the deck was gorgeous. The food was scrumptious... I had the veggie burger which they make themselves and truly was one of the best I"ve ever had. Portions are enormous...Service was great...was a lovely birthday celebration. And when they heard of that, they gave us a delicious dessert for free. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back. A true gem in the gorge."
Dined on 5/11/2013
Charred burger, water glasses
always empty, wilted salad, no service. We waited fifteen minutes for the server to pick up the check, and ended up just leaving cash and walking out."
Dined on 4/19/2013
Veggie burger was delicious. Fish
n Chips not worth the money. The small order was very small. Service very erratic and confused. The server was very sweet but had no clue that a pink wine was certainly NOT a chardonnay, and TWO different servers brought the wrong wine. May go back for special occasion, but lot of cost for iffy food and service."
Dined on 4/13/2013
The Easter Buffet at Riverside was
very good. Loved the eggs that were shaped like chicks. They even had a kid-friendly buffet table. A beautiful Easter flower basket was by the entrance to the buffet. We had a very nice time on Easter morning."
Dined on 3/31/2013
Amazing food, great wine,
attentive waitress, and an amazing view! Great experience and would definitely recommend for special occasions."
Dined on 3/25/2013
The restaurant sits just above the
Columbia River. We had a very nice table next to a window with a great view out onto the river. Soft lighting, good table linens, candle light. Our server was solicitous but not intrusive. The food was beautifully plated and delicious. We would definitely return."
Dined on 3/26/2013
Always a good experience with Chef
Mark!! Great location with a view of the Columbia River from every table."
