Ordered from the menu but didn't receive what was described. Was not told ahead of time that a substitution was being made for the pastry. The substitution was a piece of carrot cake. The bloody mary was served with a cherry and was not good.

The servers were very nice. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the view of the mountains and river. We had the more exotic dishes and they were well prepared and flavorful. We will go again next time we visit Glenwood Springs.

Our adult children and their children (a party of 11) celebrated my wife's 60th birthday at Rivers. The ambiance is top-notch and the menu selection was good along with very reasonable prices. The service was excellent. It has been a long time since my wife and I have dined at such a pleasurable restaurant.

Booked a reservation for Anniversary dinner with my wife. Expected it to be a little more romantic. Ended up with a group in the corner with a fussy baby. Not a problem I like kids as ours are raised and gone now. But was not expecting it to be a family restaurant. That said, service was good, though when it got busy it appeared they were understaffed as service did slow a little. Food was very good. Overall experience was very good. I would go back, but I would not go back to book a romantic dinner. This is a well done family restaurant.

We wanted to have a very special Valentine's Day dinner, and this place delivered. The food was delicious, the ambiance was lively but romantic, and the service was attentive. The only minor detraction was that the creme brulee was very slightly underbaked; but the flavors were vibrant. We recommend Rivers to anyone looking for a great place to eat in Glenwood Springs.

  • We had relatively poor service.

We had relatively poor service. Everything just took a very long time. No water until after we had ordered (though the empty glasses were on the table waiting), no drink menu until 5 minutes after requesting one (there were drink menus on all the other tables). Other than that, it was great. The service was slow, but not non-existent or rude. This wasn't the first time I've eaten here either, and typically service is very good. We may have just been seated in a bad location in the room that was easily over-looked.

I booked this reservation for my son and his girlfriend. They reported back that it was a fabulous experience. The food was good and the staff was excellent. They were happy that the reservation was early because by the time they finished their meal there was line of people waiting to get in. They will go back and I am anxious to try it when I am in Glenwood Springs.

This was our first time at the Rivers Restaurant and we loved the location, service and ambiance. We both had the fish specials which were "ok". Next time we would order off the regular menu. One thing I really liked and which was a first was when our waiter noted that I was gluten intolerant, he brought me rice crackers when he brought the bread basket to the table! He also offered to prepare our appetizer so it was gluten free! Very considerate!

    OpenTable Diner Since 2010

This was our first time at Rivers Restaurant and we plan on returning, mainly due to the number of gluten free choices, beautiful and elegant setting, and relaxed, quiet dining. We also enjoyed the fact that the food is uniquely prepared and not the generic food served at most chain restaurants. Although the food is good (pork loin, braised lamb, rocky mtn game balls, Thai vegetables), the six of us did not taste anything spectacular that we would die to come back for, although the creme brulee trio, wilted spinach salad, trout pate and vegetable lasagne are mentionable. The buffalo meatloaf was good, but no different than your grandma's meatloaf. Wish we tried the steak, elk or prime rib. We will leave that for our next visit.

The Rivers Restaurant exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious, the atmosphere romantic and elegant, the service timing was spot on. The drinks were also very good. The waiter checked in on us perfectly. The food arrived hot and nicely presented. We had the chicken piccata and vegetarian lasagna both were very flavorful and we would order them again. The carrot cake dessert was delicious. The background music was just enough that you could still hear your conversation. It’s so hard to find a restaurant with white tablecloth, candles, linen napkins nowadays that the Rivers was like a breath of fresh air. We have selected the restaurant for wedding reception next year. Highly recommended.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2012

Thanksgiving dinner was tasty. An alternative vegetarian dish was not so good. There does not appear to be any acoustic insulation except for the carpeting. On a holiday the noise level was distracting and this made it hard for conversations. I would not recommend this restaurant for holidays because of the high noise levels. The employees were pleasant and our waiter was attentive.

The Rivers is a beautiful restaurant that is incredibly well designed and decorated. The lighting was romantic, and the many windows made it feel European. The food was amazingly delicious (and that's a real compliment coming from someone who would rather stay at home and prepare a guaranteed delectable dinner) and the presentation was gorgeous. Everyone, from the hostess to our primary server, was so courteous and friendly. No detail was left undone. If you are going to Glenwood Springs or just passing through, make time to have dinner with the folks at The Rivers!

We throughly enjoyed our dinner and our time at the Rivers Restaurant. The mussels and calamari were very good, the calamari had some spice to it to make it interesting. We split orders of the bacon wrapped duck and the champagne shrimp scampi, both were excellent. The duck was moist and flavorful and the shrimp scampi was equally as tasty, with good-sized shrimp. Portions were good-sized, so we ended up taking dessert home. Prices were equitable for the value and the portion sizes. A beautiful setting, mountains all around including a view Mt. Sopris to the south and the Colorado River rolling below. We're looking forward to another visit to Rivers.

The Rivers is our favorite Glenwood restaurant for two reasons: the good food and a low noise level (so you can hear your conversation!). We enjoy their varied menu with a good selection of the "standard" fare plus a number of unique entree's to try something new. The bourbon pecan pie tops it all off wonderfully!

There are very few good places in Glenwood Springs for large groups but this is a great one. They take reservations so you don't have to wait. Drinks were served promptly. They assigned one server just for our table so orders were taken right away and food was served timely but not rushed. The outdoor deck is so nice. The noise level was good so we could talk easily. The food was very good. The best part was the early bird special with 3 courses for $19.95 with a choice of soup or salad, entree choice of prime rib, shrimp scampi, fish & chips, chicken piccata, or vegetarian dish, then chocolate mousse or carrot cake for dessert! We were still talking about what a pleasant evening it was the next day.

We weren't sure about the weather so we elected to eat indoors, but still got to enjoy the beautiful views through the walls of windows and glass pane doors. The wood chairs indoors were sort of uncomfortable (I did envy the outdoor diners and their comfy-looking plastic patio furniture). The wait staff was polite, soft-spoken and attentive. I enjoyed the trout pate (my husband thought the trout was drowned out with too much "filler"). It came with capers and chopped raw onions. I had the grilled salmon. The Mediterranean salsa unfortunately came with olives (my fault for not asking) but they were easily picked out. The meal was delicious and both of our entrees came with carrots, broccoli and beets (these were not mentioned on the me
