Diner Reviews
  • "As usual, Tom Collichio's food is full of flavor -- unique pastas, intense sorbets, freshest possible oysters. Service, however, was sub-par during today's Restaurant Week experience where requests needed repeating three times and a manager's help was required. We came for the food —as the man once said—but would return for the hospitality. Please pick up the slack."

  • "My wife and I had lunch on our anniversary (July 29th) at Riverpark. It was restaurant week, so the 3-course, 25 dollar menu was a bargain considering the quality of food. My wife just had knee surgery and was uncomfortable at the table where we began the meal. Our server kindly moved us to a window table where she could prop up her one leg. The food was wonderful, especially first courses (gazpacho, corn panna cotta) and desserts (blueberry cobbler with lemon verbena ice cream) Service was exceptional. There is a slight air of formality but still quite friendly. It is a great place for a special meal. Very nice decor. We will definitely come back!"

  • "The restaurant and grounds are peaceful and fresh enough to make you forget the congestion and simmering odor of the Manhattan streets on which most other local restaurants sit. This is a peaceful enclave that offers a choice of outdoor dining to the hum of traffic on the FDR or inside service to the hum of other diners, both with an expansive view of the East River. We walked over from the din of Midtown for a lunch of fresh oysters, micro-herb garnished lamb ribs and bream, polished off with a light dessert and coffee. The food was satisfying on all counts - seasonality, presentation, flavor, restrained quantity. We liked the friendly but non-intrusive service. We will be back to eat again at Riverpark."

  • "My partner and I had lunch at Riverpark during summer restaurant week, and we really enjoyed it. It was our first visit to the restaurant, but it won't be our last! Food was fresh and inventively prepared without being silly or pretentious. Given that three courses cost about the same as a single starter or main typically does, we had expected small portions, but that was absolutely not the case. Service was friendly and attentive without being obtrusive, and the whole experience was great. Highly recommended!"

  • "Had Lunch during Restaurant Week - Wow! Only a restaurant week lunch menu was provided but it was extensive with several choices of appetizer, entree and dessert. We were told that the restaurant wanted to provide a representation of their regular menu so one can still order their favorites when they return. Every dish was beautifully presented with extremely fresh ingredients. Service staff - all of them - were attentive and patient with all of our questions about the menu items. They were mindful of dietary restrictions and time constraints. The entire experience was just delightful and each of us declared we were bringing our spouses for dinner at Riverpark soon. Ask to be seated outdoors if the weather is fine."

  • "I went with my family for restaurant week. The food was delicious, the choice of wine was really good as well and the service was good. I loved the creative dishes with different textures, like the terrine with pistachio or the savory panna cotta."

  • "Excellent environment and food. The only problem was I made an a reservation and had to wait 25 minutes before I was seated."

  • "excellent restaurant with a great bartender. He made me a great specialized drink that started my night off really great. We started with the octopus appetizer and it was very flavorful and fun. I love trying new and unique dishes. I had the pork and it was good, I think that for people that aren't pork eaters, it's a good dish to try but I would shy away from it because I'm used to the big flavors of chinese style pork. My friend had the squid ink pasta which was excellent. The best on the menu though was definitely the cereal and milk desert. You're in for a surprise!"

  • "Food has great selection especially for Restaurant Week. The entire menu is offered for Restaurant Week. There are very different kinds of choices and the food while in small portions, is well prepared and very fresh since they have their own garden. The view is wonderful of the river and you can sit outside on long tables and benches or inside with big windows with great views. The inside is very attractive and relatively quiet. Enjoyed the lunch with good and helpful service."

  • "I've eaten at Riverpark twice now and have to confess I'm a huge fan of the place. The view is stunning, the food is really fabulous. The whole dorade I ordered was done to perfection, although the vegetable medley on which it sat tended to be a bit on the mushy side, which was strange, considering how fresh they clearly were. Otherwise--still one of my very favorites."

  • "As usual loved the evening at one of my most favorite restaurants. I brought two friends who were celebrating their anniversary and they were thrilled with everything. This was there first time at your restaurant. Thank you for treating them so specialily."

  • "Well it's not ON the river, but it's close. Because it's higher up, you're not as disturbed by the highway noise as you'd think for being right next to the river. The waiters & servers & hosts are very well-informed about the food and the gardens, which are also lovely to view. Outdoor diners can dress casual, there were even people in shorts. Inside is more formal, business casual to upscale. The bread is delicious! I had the squid ink pasta which was very satisfying and refreshing at the same time. Pinot noir was excellent. My friend's cosmo thrilled her to pieces. I plan to go through the hole menu!"

  • "Restaurant Wk $25 lunch. RP is an awesome sight/site. The wait staff in gray check shirts, gray aprons, red or black tie & charcoal trousers were impressive-black is boring. Appetizers: panna cotta--good due to its diverse flavors & terrific terrine with pleasant aroma of the slightly burned bread. Each received a salted mini-baguette--among best ever. Mains: 3 fishy pieces of bream seared nicely. 3 lamb ribs with ample fall off the bone mea but only 1 tasty lamb sausage disk. Rib sauce complemented surprisingly mild lambiness. Dessert: cream puffs grabbed taste buds with basil filling & a peach blueberry cobbler was perfect. Coffee--$3.65. Michigan wine, least expensive--$10. Toilets on same flr, flawless service, beautiful views."

  • "Beautiful restaurant by Tom Collichio, designed with a dramatic interior. Outdoor tables and tables along the window overlook the East River. Professional service. Excellent wine list with variety at reasonable prices. Food is 'new American' and very good. But it may not be for everyone, as the dishes we ordered we rather spicy and/or very rich in flavor. Desserts looked like fun (we passed). We recommend it. Note: If you arrive by car, enter parking lot (free to diners) from East 30th Street (restaurant on 29th)."

  • "I really appreciate the personal touches that Tom Colicchio puts in to each experience. This is our second visit to one of his restaurants and they really pay close attention to detail. For someone like myself, who works in this business, I can truly appreciate this kind of hospitality. The food was spectacular. I was surprised with a lovely dessert at the end of the evening. Thank you again for a great experience."

  • "Nice picnic style tables outside if you have a party of 4-6, or if it isn't too busy 2 may have a table to themselves. Overlooking the FDR and East River, even so close to the traffic it wasn't unpleasantly noisy, and sitting at the picnic tables was more private than indoors where it was a bit crowded. The entree was very slow coming out, but the chef sent a sample dish to keep us busy eating while we waited; a complimentary beverage would have been more satisfying. The avocado hamachi first course was wonderful! The swordfish, not so much."

  • "When making the reservation, I noted that it would be my friend's birthday brunch. The restaurant changed her menu so it said happy birthday to her at the top. They spelled her name wrong but it was still a nice surprise. We were also seated at the nicest table at the restaurant that overlooked the water. We could see Queens and a little of Brooklyn. It was delightful. Get the donuts, they're fresh out of the fryer."

  • "From the warmth of reception, to the professional service, to the wonderful food, Just rediscovered your "farm this restaurant never disappoints."

  • "Food tasted good overall. However, the food was not farm to table. The octopus appetizer was the best dish that nite. But for the Cobia entree,we expected the Cobia to be the center of the dish but the fish was masked in a heavy smoky salsa which dominated the dish. The Peking Duck breast entree was a good dish but its flavors were more Indian then Chinese. More Garam Marsala than 5 spice. The duck was paired with potatoes which was more of an Indian "aloo". But the worst was the disinterested service starting with the "cold" hostess (were given menus with different menu items) to the inattentive wait staff which were rarely seen after taking our orders. It needs better service to be worthy of the brand/money. We are in NYC, Go somewhere else!"

  • "What a treat to sit outside on a low humidity night and overlook the East River. Great setting, delightful staff who memorized every ingredient of the menu. The food was totally trumped by the atmosphere and service, yet maybe we ordered the wrong things. Best dish was the buckwheat pasta."

  • "I'd been trying to get to this place for a couple of years ... Finally had a great lunch ... Food is very , very good , great fresh and different .. Terrific wine list .. A view of the east river and easy access all made this a very enjoyable experience. Try the salads and the pate with the side of berry jam and the greens with mulberries was a real find ... Want to go back soon."

  • "Once you step into Riverpark, any preconceived notions of dining in the middle of Bellevue and NYU Hospitals are gone. The views of the East River and the skyline are stunning. Even in a rain storm! The decor is subtle, contemporary, warm and inviting (considering the space is off the lobby of the Alexandria). Parking is a breeze and makes the entry super easy. Our table (with two chairs and a sofa on the opposite side) set the stage for a delicious meal to come. Waiter was attentive and informative. The food was perfectly prepared and the "farm to table" freshness was fabulous. Can't wait to return. Love that they called and even asked if we were celebrating a special occasion or had any allergies before we arrived! A gem!!"

  • "BEWARE BEWARE, I had $2500 worth of damage done to my car, and the Restaurant continuously passed me off to other people because they didnt want to get involved with the Alexandria Center Garage, despite VALIDATING stamps from there, thereby ENCOURAGING their patrons to park there. NEVER AGAIN RIVERPARK!!!!"

  • "Wanted a foodie type place with a NY view to impress an out-of-town friend on a hot summer evening. Read mixed reviews about food and service. Well, we were "wow-ed"! Reservation was for 7pm Saturday evening. Service was pleasant without pretense or drama - efficient and pleasant and then, gone. The outside terrace was almost full but not many in the restaurant at that time.( Very windy, so might want to wear your hair up, ladies!) our courses promptly- the corn panna cotta was to die for! Wine list was a vast tome with many Chilean. Every mouthful of food was a fresh and glorious taste sensation and we were blown away. Be aware - the restaurant is right on the FDR Even was topped off with the rising of a full moon over water! Fantastic!"

  • "As former (native) New Yorkers we were excited to have the great east river view. Our waiter Aaron was so good natured and informative. He really knew so much about the food - it was wonderfully helpful. All waitstaff was smiling, friendly and helpful. Our indoor corner window table was perfect. My only disappointment was that I learned, after we had already departed, about the raised bed gardens for the restaurant just outside. Wish we had checked them out. The food and wine selections delicious. We look forward to returning."

  • "Have not been back since it opened as I did not think the food was that great at the time. However, this time the food was excellent. Service needs to be prioritized. We arrived a half hour early to have a drink and the restaurant was 1/3 full. We asked to be seated so we could enjoy the view while we had a drink instead of moving and they said a few minutes. 50 minutes later after many inquiries and empty seats all around us, we had to let them know we were going to have to leave as our sitter could not stay too late. None of this should have happened-really. Most impressed with the way the kitchen is delivering the food. Excellent."

  • "great birthday dinner. service is great. when confirming reservations they asked if it was a special occasion and also asked about allergies. this resulted in a personalized menu for the birthday girl and follow up about allergy ingredients. the local farm ingredients make a huge difference. everything was yummy, service was perfect, view was beautiful, outdoor seating was intimate and cool, even on a hot night. to boot, they validate parking. most of all, the odd location keeps it from being too busy and noisy."
