The Porcini and Gorgonzola pizza was a perfect appetizer, my wife had the tagliolini al limone and I had a georgeus Veal chop. The evening was romantic, ambience energetic but not crazy and the food experience was to die for. Saw a few celebs without the usual Hollywood hoopla. Honestly, where have you been all my life? I had to try Gino's famous lasagne because I've heard so much about it and it lived up to acclaiim. Unlike most, I actually like anchovies and chose the white anchovy salad. Mind you, these are delicate little fish and were gourmet, not the overly-salty jobs you find in pizza joints. My date had a tortellini pasta dish with thick bacon squares pan fried in some heavenly sauce. I went on a Tuesday and it was packed. If you know the chef from his tiny place on Melrose, Riva Bella is wide-open expansive, opulent without being pretentious. FromAbsolutely amazing. From start to finish, a spectacular meal in a beautiful setting. We sat in the wine cellar, very quiet and romantic. Patio seating is great, airy and casual but not entirely open to the elements. Indoor seating is lovely, classic setting. Service couldn't have been better--knowledgeable, not shy about suggestions, attentive without being too much. Food was incredible. Nested pasta, almost an open face lasagna, with Italian ham--wonderful. Scallops were done perfectly. Honestly, from start to finish, a wonderful meal in a wonderful setting with wonderful service. The attention is very attentive and friendly, fun atmosphere but quite noisy, as environment of bar or club, with a lot of people in the bar of entry. The environment where are the tables is quite dark and there is only one small candle on the table, with which you can't read the letter from the menu. They can control the temperature because it has huge panels up high that can be closed when it is too cool or breezy. They were very on top of this and closed one section at one point when it got cool. Great waiter ...staff in general were anxious to please. We just shared a large pizza special of the day as we dining at 10 PM. Great martini too. Bar scene was lively even though maybe only 10- or 12 bar stools. But there are couches too in the bar. Definitely a fun spot.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth going againThis new restaurant has a lot to offer. The indoor/outdoor seating is impressive. The roof actually closes when it's rainy or cold. The service was attentive. The waiter was so talkative it felt like wee were leaving a friend at the end. And we loved his real Italian accent. My wife's fish was adequate but the broccoli was overcooked. But they brought a crisp replacement right away. My lobster pasta was terrific.
