Diner Reviews
  • "4 for dinner @7:00 Saturday ,a great experience. A wonderful reception...Giorgio was in the house and introduced us to Chef a Luigi. The tuna tartare starter was excellent, as was the grlled branzino. What a terrific presentation. The grilled shrimp were a bit mushy...and the hearts of palm salad a bit ordinary...bottom line, we look forward to Returning!"

  • "Even though I made a reservation with a request for the patio they put us in an empty section behind the bar where no one was sitting. The whole point of eating there is to sit in their outdoor patio which is 90% of the restaurant seating. When I requested to sit there they said there were all reserved for the rest of the evening.... however I witnessed many tables that were never occupied throughout our dining. Clearly this is a "place" that caters to those they know or who they want to impress. food is way overpriced - the soup of the day, carrot was $14, really! The pasta portions are very small with big price tags encouraging you to get more food - most of the meat and fish dishes hovered around $45++ . What a waste of time!"

  • "Nice setting. Good food. But, overpriced. Similar quality food to be found at more reasonable prices."

  • "I've eaten lunch and dinner at Rivabella. Everything I've had was tasty. I'd go back. It's a great place to meet for business or pleasure. And you've got a choice of parking -- inside the adjacent office building or via valet parking."

  • "RivaBella was the first restaurant my girlfriends and I ate at for our first trip to Los Angeles, and we were not disappointed! Such a beautiful place with an amazing ambiance. We arrived an hour before our reservation and were prepared to wait in the bar area, instead the hostess was wonderful with getting us a table right then. The waitress was incredibly sweet and helpful. Our cocktails and meals could not have been better!"

  • "Rivabella makes the best meatballs I have EVER eaten. The black truffle Risotto was absolutely amazing. Although it's pricey, it's well worth it. The waiters and bus boys were all awesome. This place cracks and we will definitely be going back."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner at Rivabella! I found the staff to be friendly and helpful, the venue is gorgeous and the food was outstanding. I had the amazing risotto that they mix in an aged cheese wheel and my friend had the best scallops I've ever had. Really a great experience."

  • "This is NOT Angelini OSteria. this was the worst meal we have had in a long time in Los Angeles. We were very disappointed."

  • "Definitely excellent food, and service. Prices match, and even exceed what one expects. Wines are overpriced beyond reasonable, or unreasonable, however selection is great if money is no object (I would say that while some restaurants double wine prices, this one prefers a multiple of 5 or greater). Good impression overall."

  • "Our reservation was for 7:00PM on a Saturday night. Service and food were outstanding. Very attentive staff. Competitive prices and a great wine list. By 8:30PM, the beautiful garden dining room had filled up, as had the bar area, filled with older gentlemen and their "nieces". The restaurant went from being a restaurant into a MAW (Model, Actress, Whatever) parade of tiny black dresses, six-inch heels and an average age of 23. Example: Six MAW's in a booth drinking and noshing, with guys sending over drinks. The younger guys looking for love were the basic gold chain-bling crowd. If you want to be a Hollywood hipster, RivaBella is your kind of place after 8:30PM. Come early to enjoy the beautiful room and great food."

  • "Cozy and tucked away, felt like we were in a different place entirely. Extremely good and knowledgeable server and the food was amazing---as we think it always is. Honestly have never had a bite of anything at RivaBella that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. A very nice evening in a great spot with superb service."

  • "I love the relaxed feel of this place - like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The pasta dish I had was amazing. The table was split on the monkfish- one person thought it was great, but another felt that the tastes didnt quite mesh. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable.""

  • "This place is amazing! After eating there twice for lunch I decided to go there for dinner. The food is world class. From the baby kale salad, truffle pizza, branzino fish, risotto or the carbonara pasta, all these dishes are the best that I have ever had. I highly recommend that you try it!!"

  • "Riva Bella is very special. The service is impeccable and the ambiance is delightful. As a vegetarian, I wish there were more options on the menu but the waiter was so helpful, it's a restaurant that is very adaptable"

  • "Friday night reservation. I expected the food to come out in really small portions, but that was not the case. Big portions came with everything we ordered. Tuna tartare was good but they should get the recipe from their sister restaurant Boa. I had the lobster and that was out of this world delicious and huge. My date had the veal parmigiana and he said it was delicious. The place is full of beautiful people taking pics of their food. It's loud. So loud that I could hardly carry a conversation with my date and the tables are super small. Our server Aaron was really nice, friendly and cool, thank goodness because he took over the table from a not so friendly server that was annoyed because we were not drinking."

  • "Its a great place for a big party. Dining there is a little more quiet. Such a huge space it is hard to fill. Food is good though was rushed out, main course was put down as starter was taken away. We were in and out in an hour which would have been great if we were in a rush. Would go again but maybe in a bigger group."

  • "I thought when Hamburger Hamlet closed that we lost one of our best friends, but Riva Bella has become one of my most favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. From the pleasant parking attendant, to the hostess, waiter, etc. the experience is what fine dining should be like."

  • "Had heard a lot of good things about restaurant went on a Sunday eve not too many guests. Food was average at best. Service was efficient but not knowledgeable about menu or how to serve. When we ordered a pasta dish and an entre, waitress asked if we wanted them at the same time. Food was tasty but temperature was not correct. Both pasta were lukewarm. As we're scallops for nature. I ordered lamb chop medium rare and they came out rare. Certainly not up to quality of a top restaurant. Overall very dissapointing."

  • "I invited friends to join me at RivaBella - only my 2nd tine there. We had a friendly greeting and were seated after a short wait. Our waiter was very attentive and made some recommendations that proved to be great. The food was enjoyable, and everyone agreed it was a great evening. I would not hesitate to go back - a fun experience."

  • "The waiter was very nice but had two major blunders - he forgot to give us the evening's specials which we overheard him giving to another table after we had ordered. Secondly, our second glasses of wine were brought just as we finished eating our entree. To his credit he went to his manager and told him the honest truth - that he had made those specific mistakes. Have to commend him for that.! The manager - to his credit - came over and apologized, comped ALL the wine and brought us each a dessert on the house. Their "no excuse honesty" and their willingness to take responsibility and make good on the screwups helped to save the evening. Beyond that and the beautiful room, the food was just not good enough to return."

  • "That it replaced. Not exactly fine dining either. New decor: boring. There is also a nearly empty Chinese restaurant attached that is visible when you enter. The hosting staff were friendly but despite having made the reservation weeks in advance, and the restaurant nearly half empty, we were given what must be the worst table in the place. We complained. They gave us a better one. We had to ask for bread. When it came they placed two tiny pieces on our plates and the bread was ice cold. Our appetizers were terrible. Couldn't finish them. Our entrees (white fish picata and shrimp risoto), to be fair, were good. But, then came dessert...awful. It's new. They're busy for now. But if things don't change, this restaurant will go down fast."

  • "I tried the lasagna and nested pasta. Both were some of the best pasta I've had in a while. The appetizers and cannoli were good, but nothing to write home about. Beautiful patio and attentive service. Priced way too high for what it is."

  • "The first time I dined at Riva Bella back in Fall 2013, the food was quite good, from the Octopus to the Branzino, it was a (rare) legitimately decent Italian dining experience in L.A. On my second time there, in January 2014, it was, in a word, disappointing. The Bucatini (pasta) was amateur at best - way too overcooked, and the Branzino (hey, I love sea bass) was very weak on flavor. The place was reasonably happening for a Saturday night, and it seems Riva Bella is (understandably) headed in the direction of it's sister across the street, BOA - amateur food for amateur diners who really only care about being seen in a place they feel is suitably hot. I gladly leave Riva Bella to them... Arrivederci!"

  • "A very good meal overall. Monday nights they offer 50% off everything on their extensive wine list so it's a great place to enjoy a really nice bottle. The octopus salad is delicious! I found the pastas salty for my palate but ambiance is lovely and I'd go back again."

  • "Love it. I suppose I could just end the review right there. Three of us for an easy dinner with friends and it couldn't have been nicer or better. Two of us had salads to start and one had soup, all were delicious. Fish and pasta entrees--the fish dishes were the stars of the show that night. Prepared perfectly. RivaBella is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood, now our neighborhood "go-to" spot."

  • "Great waiter, excellent food. Our group enjoyed lunch. Two in our party tried the chefs plate, one the combo and I had an excellent White Fish. Semi open air dining (open panels) in the roof added to the ambience. I did not notice any problems with too much sunshine coming in. Looking forward to trying dinner."

  • "went with family for early xmas eve dinner. couldn't have been lovelier. The place is beautiful, many large family groups had the same idea as we did. All the food was great, service excellent. it was our first time there although we had wanted to dine there for a while. this was a perfect start"

  • "This was my 1st time at Riva Bella and I must confess, I was 100% impressed from the time we entered until the time we left. I even took the chance to celebrate a friends birthday. I definitely will be returning and telling friends that they must try Riva Bella!"

  • "I had great expectations which were not met. I have had much better Italian meals and would rate this as only average. It is a beautiful restaurant however the food sadly lets it down."

  • "Had a bad feeling when I greeted the hostess...she did not greet me. Had to ask to be seated. She took us to a small table when there were 4 empty booths in the front of the restaurant. Asked for a booth and she said they were all reserved. The booths remained empty the entire 2 1/4 hours we were there! The waiter greeted us, talked about some menu items, pointed out the wine list and walked away without asking if we wanted drinks. Had to flag him down to take our drink order. They murdered the Branzino with a very salty rub and charred it. They brought another serving of the Branzino without the rub but it was uneatable, didn't even look like Branzino. They took it off the bill and brought 2 desserts on the house , but we will not be back!"

  • "A VERY memorable pasta dish (wow!) and the rest of the meal was very good as well. We booked late so were seated near the bar on the fringe of the "happening" and beautiful "patio" area (that's what they called it but I believe it was all indoors). Next time we will request to sit there as the atmosphere seemed very special in that area. Still a terrific experience but now we know."

  • "RivaBella tops itself (almost!) again. Went for a nice, romantic Christmas Eve dinner and were not disappointed! The restaurant was a bit quiet due to the holiday, but the staff were all in great spirits, stopped to say hello, asked if we needed anything... Had, for the first time, both the Spinach Tagliatelle with Lamb Ragu and the Veal done Parmigiana style. Just incredible. Both of them. The veal was to die for, and my Italian SO said it was the best he'd ever had. The only disappointing part to the evening is when we forgot our leftovers in the taxi! :( We will continue to visit RivaBella as often as we can."

  • "This is a repeat performance! Have been to this Restaurant 4 times either for lunch or dinner. What a great dining experience every time. The food is superb. Our waiter, nice guy with bamboo wooden frames suggested the new chicken salad and we were thrilled.I purchased a gift certificate for a neighbor, and am sure that they also will have a great experience."

  • "Overall, the food was good. my companions loved their Scallops and Lasagna. But, for the restaurant whose owner/consultant is known for his pasta, my Bucatini Amatriciana was way overcooked and smothered in sauce. . .not what I would expect from a chef of his reputation. Too bad. . .and it was a special of the evening too."
