  • "I had been to this restaurant for a friend's party and wanted to come back. I decided to come for dinner with 3 close friends for my birthday and was not disappointed! I have a friend with multiple food allergies, and another who is very picky. Everyone was able to order something great from the menu and fell in love with the atmosphere. So much so, that they are all planning to return."

  • "My husband & I greatly enjoyed the food (although the portion of the specialty mushroom & truffle ravioli was quite small). We wanted to love the restaurant since we LOVED Tuscana West and were so sad when it lost its lease. However, we received what may have been the worst service we have ever experienced. We were basically ignored for the entire evening once we opted not to order wine. The table beside us, however, had constant attention from servers and were even able to get their check a full 30 minutes before us, despite the fact that they were a full course behind us. We were planning on ordering dessert, but decided not to after our dinner plates were cleared and no one came back to our table for another 25 minutes. Disappointing."

  • "Lovely dining experience for our daughter's 18th birthday celebration with friends. From the appetizers (calamari and mozzarella) to the salads (Caesar and fennel) to the entrees (breaded veal cutlet prepared to order, veal parmesan, tortellini, other pasta dishes), everything was prepared and served to perfection. Service was exceptionally attentive. This is the place for a special occasion or just a romantic date for two. We've dined at Restaurant Piccolo many times, recommend it highly."

  • "Restaurante Piccolo is my absolute favorite restaurant in Georgetown! Everyone is so wonderful, the service is outstanding, the ambiance is wonderful and the food is delicious! On the weekends they have a wonderful violinist who goes from table to table playing special songs for guests. If you are looking for a great dining experience in Georgetown choose Piccolo! Lunch is great too! I can't recommend this restaurant enough!"

  • "Both the food and the service at Ristorante Piccolo remind me of some of the best places I have eaten at in Italy. The food is well prepared with a wide variety of inviting items. The service is attentive without being overbearing."

  • "Had a lovely birthday dinner at Piccolo! When a family with a very noisy youngster sat down next to us, the manager very kindly moved us to another table and the service was terrific. We can heartily recommend the risotto special and the house Bolognese. Planning to go back when next in DC."

  • "I took clients here for dinner while I was in town and was thrilled that the restaurant was so incredible. It is a hidden treasure in a small Georgetown brownstone. When you walk in you feel as if you have walked into an inviting, warm, beautiful personal home with lovely decor and a beautiful fireplace. The staff is professional, friendly, and actually care about their customers. The food was pure perfection! The prices were shockingly reasonable and definitely lower than I expected. They even have a delightful violinist who is enjoyable, but not intrusive. I would not hesitate to go back. This is definitely my "go to" restaurant when I am in DC."

  • "This was our second time here. The experience was again very pleasant but the meal was just OK. The Caesar salad was not properly chilled and the veal parm - which is a useful marker of a good Italian restaurant - was bland. You won't go wrong here but can do better."

  • "We were pleased with the service, atmosphere and best of all food. I had emailed a request for a table and my request was graciously honored. Followed by wonderful service and good food, we couldn't have asked for more. Yes we would recommend."

  • "I went on valentine's day and the food was good. The meal for two came out to $140 before a tip but the four course meal was spectacular."

  • "This was our first time to this restaurant and it was great. The price was along what you would expect to pay for great Italian food and a bottle of wine. I have had a lot of Calamari and I must say this was by far the best Calamari I have ever had. If you go, do yourself a favor and grab it for an appetizer! The violinist that came around was really nice and not bothersome, but would play you a song if you wanted which was really cool! Great place, would definitely go again if we are down in the Georgetown/DC area!"

  • "Loved Piccolo. The general manager is on top of things and makes sure everyone is treated like royalty. The food is terrific with high quality ingredients. Service is terrific and its a nice romantic spot. Perfect for date night. Love the strolling violin player. The ONLY downside to this place is a menu that is too large....pare it down, and stick to a few great items. It's overwhelming to have a 7 page menu. Still, the food we had tasted like the house special. Graci Graci!"

  • "Piccolo has a very long menu and everything I've tried has been delicious. We had a dynamite eggplant appetizer, tasty tomato soup and generous portions of gnocchi and ravioli. Almond cake dessert was luscious. Main dining room suffered a bit from cold every time the front door opened. Sitting near the fireplace helped, but it was still chilly."

  • "My boyfriend and I were in Georgetown this past weekend visiting for the the night to celebrate Valentine's day. I had researched places to go eat while we were in town, and this was top on our list. We had an amazing experience. The food, wine, and service was great! We will be back again!"

  • "The wifey and I ate here for Valentines day dinner. We had never been here before and the number of stars in previous reviews was right on point. They had a special menu for Valentines Day. The food was great and the service was on point. Np complaints."

  • "Visited this restaurant on valentines day when there was a set menu. But overall the food was not good and way overpriced (200 for dinner for two, and a glass of wine each) First course was okay. Second course was bland pasta with cabbage in it and I little fleckers here and there of what they said was crab. Totally tasteless. For the main dish I got a crab stuffed lobster half which looked good but again was quite tasteless and unsubstantial. Dessert was a total disappointment. I also felt so rushed - waiters took my food before I was finished eating, and if not they hovered over me looking on and the second I looked done they whisked away. I think we were in and out within an hour for a four course meal on Vday."

  • "The service here is quite disinterested and unnecessarily snotty. It may be better than the other Italian restaurant across the street (paper moon...avoid at all costs) but it it not a great restaurant. Locals know not to expect too much; if you're visiting dc, please don't judge the city's cuisine by the so-so food and service you'll find at piccolo."

  • "The restaurante Picolo is a very cosy place close to M-street in Georgetown. Unfortunatelly the quality of food is not up the standards one expects from such a restaurant. My starter ,aubergine with a kind of pesto sauce and mushrooms came along without a special taste, the spaghetti with frutti di mare were served on a plastic wrap on the plate, the spaghetti too soft, the dish not too warm. I remember different times."

  • "Food was excellent, so was the service. Will definitely go back with friends and family!!"

  • "Really nice evening- despite the tables being very close together, still romantic and able to hear people a the table. Food was good- not great- too rich with overabundance of butter and oil...even the waiter admitted my plate was drenched. Antipasti plate was fantastic and good amount for the price."

  • "Ristorante Piccolo was a great experience. My girlfriend and I went there for a romantic date and it was everything we were looking for. Excellent food, and great atmosphere with a violinist playing! We weren't trying to break the bank, and bot got relatively simple pasta dishes and just drank water for a total bill of $44."

  • "This has become one of our 3 favorite authentic Italian restaurants, and recently we tried it for lunch on a Friday when we were both not working that afternoon. What a treat: most of the same dishes on the menu, but at lower prices. Plus we tried for the first time what instantly became our favorite appetizer: grilled eggplant with caramelized onions, sun-dried tomatoes and Balsamic vinegar, topped with goat’s cheese. Only $5! For entree, I had the spaghetti ai frutti di mare al Cartoccio: fresh jumbo shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels pan-seared with garlic and fresh basil in a spicy tomato sauce, tossed with spaghetti and baked in a parchment pocket. Absolutely divine. And what she had was not bad either: ravioli with porcini mushrooms."

  • "Very good in most respects. Nice atmosphere and professional service. My menu selection, Calamari with linguine, was flavored well, but the calamari had the texture of shoe leather, unfortunately."
    Dined on 2/5/2014
  • "The food was great, we sat in the front corner so I didn't get to see much of the restaurant but it looked pretty! The service was great and we never had to wait to have our waiter come by, he was always attentive. I believe the owner was there and made us feel at home. Overall would definitely recommend it!"

  • "We found this online. It was a quaint little spot with very good Italian food, lots of seafood choices, super attentive service. Picky me, I did not like being on the second level near the women's bathroom. It is a small place and the regular foot traffic squeezing by was a real distraction. it was easy to get a reservation so if other places are full, this is a good choice if you sit on the first floor."

  • "A cozy atmosphere and good eggplant appetizer. Other food not great. In addition, some odd things, like we were told they were out of iced tea (we were very early lunch diners) and also out of tiramisu."

  • "We've dined here half a dozen times now and never had a less than excellent meal and dining-out experience. As their name indicates, they're small--as in small is beautiful, small is smart. And yet, they're not actually that small a space: just inside the front door and upstairs spaces seem a bit snug, but they have a room on the main level in the back that offers ample space. With sufficient advance notice, they could handle a good sized group. Their waiters are pros and love to help, so ask for recommendations if you're not sure what you want. Oh, and on this last visit, we had the filet mignon covered in crab. Delish. And the lentil soup and beet-accented salad were zesty starters. Desserts were rich and soporifically satisfying."

  • "We went rather early on a Friday and had a table near the front window. There were only 4-5 other occupied tables in our area which made the ambiance just right. The servers were knowledgeable, very polite and accomodating, but missed a few opportunities to refill drinks, clear empty plates, and collect the check. Maybe that's nit-picking though. The food was top notch and reminded me of the many osterias/trattorias that we loved from our Italy trip. I would definitely come back for more, especially when the weather is good enough for al fresco dining. Piccolo is situated in the perfect spot to enjoy a nice dinner while people watching in Georgetown."
