Diner Reviews
  • "The food was very good, but not necessarily great. The service was adequate, but not really impressive. The menu is pretty extensive and I would go back to try more dishes."

  • "We made a reservation for a Monday on Open Table, and good thing they did. We arrived on time and they gave us a great table in the corner of the restaurant near the window, as their patio has room for only 3-4 2-person tables, and would have taken 30 minutes to be seated there. However, the restaurant was so busy it was turning people away shortly after we arrived. On a MONDAY! Good for them. Our order was taken quickly, and the food also did not delay. I am excited to eat here again."

  • "There appeared to be only 2 wait staff so giving the benefit of the doubt we will write off the incredibly slow service. First course was cold. Second was bland. No bread. No wine. Horrific odor began mid meal. Some issue with the septic system. Men with buckets and mops running up and down stairs. Never going here again."

  • "This was my fourth visit for dinner at Ristorante Piccolo; however, I was very disappointed in the service this time. We were seated on the main level in the front area. The server was late bringing us menus, did not explain any specials or wines, and did not check on us at all. When we asked for the dessert menu, he actually said they don't have a dessert menu, which is a lie because I have been there before and seen a dessert menu. This is unfortunate because the food was delicious- we had the veal and the lamb chops as well as a pappardelle al fungi. I do not plan to visit this restaurant again anytime soon."

  • "We were visiting Georgetown and selected this restaurant from the ratings in Open Table and everything was exactly as stated. Great food and atmosphere. Very friendly and attentive staff."

  • "Ristorante Piccolo is not only one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Georgetown and all of D.C.; it's one of my favorite restaurants throughout Washington. It's lovely and not overpriced, great wine list, and fantastic appetizers, entrees and specials. Some nice desserts too. Plus a violinist who walks around to play for different tables!"

  • "We tried Piccolo based on the review from Open Table. We were not disappointed. Every aspect of the evening was beyond our expectations...delicious food (the best lasagna ever!), the wait staff, and location. Will definitely go again."

  • "This restaurant had one of the worst waiters I've ever seen. They were not welcoming and treated us like a disease. Plus my pasta was bland and over cooked. Just terrible."

  • "Birthday dinner for my wife. All the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was terrific. We are both vegetarians and there were many dishes to choose from. Would definitely recommend this restaurant."

  • "My wife and I had our first date here eleven years ago. It was good then, even better now. David the manager heard we were celebrating our five year wedding anniversary and came over and have us extra attention. To top it off the food was great and priced well. Great time and great food."

  • "Great food and a very friendly waitstaff that is not afraid to give you recommendations and take care of your every need. I recommend them. I will eat there again."

  • "I travel from NY to DC on occasion and this is one of my fav restaurants in Georgetown. Set on a local side street, comfortably away from the hustle and bustle. Food is always great, service is attentive without being intrusive. Generally busy but relatively quiet. Looks like mostly locals, not touristy at all. Highly recommend this neighborhood gem! Check it out!"

  • "Excellent dining establishment for special occasions and more. Attentive table service and staff. Highly recommend Ristorante Piccolo for family dinners, special occasions like high school or college graduations, birthdays and anniversaries. Lovely menu selections and specials of the day. I particularly love the handmade pasta. Or try the veal. Lots to choose from. Whenever we have something to celebrate in my family, this is where we head for a picture perfect evening, start to finish."

  • "The food and service was outstanding. We started dinner around 7pm on a Saturday. The waitstaff let us take our time ordering appetizers and dinner, giving us time to enjoy our wine and such. When we first arrived the restaurant was quiet and there was plenty of space to get to your table, by the time we left it was a little noisier and the aisles were a little cramped with all the seats in the restaurant being occupied. The only real downer was the violinist that came around right in the middle of a conversation and he was just a little obnoxious."

  • "Great food and ambiance. All three of our dinners were excellent. Excellent bread, great seafood pasta but I did't like the cannoli as the shell was rock hard. Everything was really nice until it was time to pay. Our waiter and a few other staff hovered around a large table and ignored our attempts to get their attention. We really enjoyed the dinner until we couldn't leave as our waiter was too busy to bring us the bill."

  • "The service was amazing! So classy and made us feel so comfortable. Sat on the balcony and then they moved us inside when it started to rain. Food was wonderful. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Delightful experience. Food was very good. My lobster raviolli was tasty but temperature of food was cool. My family of 5 enjoyed their meals as all food was served piping hot except for raviolli"

  • "Reunion? Birthday? Graduation? Other special occasion? Here's the restaurant for you. A classic Georgetown pleaser. Begin with a few starters for your group. Like Melanzane al Formaggio di Capra (grilled eggplant/cheese), Calamari Fritti, and Piccolo Antipasti, perfect! Continue with fresh pasta, meats and more. My favorite? Vitello Piccata (veal scaloppine sauteed with garlic in a lemon caper sauce.) The salads could be stronger, but they're simple and fresh, for sure. And, the menu, wine list, service and dining ambiance are winning elements. Indeed, Ristoranti Piccolo hits all the high notes for special occasions and more. Can't wait to return! "

  • "The food is fantastic and the service is very professional. We enjoyed the delicious bread with olive oil, the roasted eggplant appetizer, and for entres, the mushroom risotto with chicken and the sage ravioli. The almond cake for dessert was scrumptious! Our server recommended a perfect wine. I highly recommend Ristorante Piccolo!"

  • "Piccolo has an excellent menu with changing ever changing daily specialties that never disappoint. Quaint Italian taverna atmosphere and smiling attentive service makes this restaurant a favorite of ours when we visit Washington/Georgetown. Dine out on the upstairs balcony for a special evening experience."

  • "This restaurant has the perfect ambiance for a romantic evening! Along with that, the food is absolutely incredible! Everything was so fresh and flavorful. A must for any romantic date night!"

  • "We arrived and asked if any outdoor seating on their terrace was available. Since it was all full we agreed to be seated at the front of the restaurant next to a window. This was a bad decision as for the rest of the evening we essentially felt forgotten by the wait staff. The food was sub-par at best and certainly not worth what we payed for it. The two salads we ordered were drenched in a rather bland vinaigrette dressing and the ingredients were of incredibly low quality. It was clear that little if any effort was put into presentation of the salad as well. For the main course I tried the ravioli stuffed with lobster. While of slightly better quality than my salad, this dish was also quite disappointing. I recommend against eating here."

  • "I have avoided this restaurant for two years because my previous experiences were so awful. however, after seeing several positive Opentable reviews, I decided to try it again. It is much improved. The pasta with seafood was very good and the service also was solid. "

  • "Great choice for dinner. The service is friendly and appropriately attentive. The dishes are well-made and served in good portions. Great ambiance. Solid choice in affordable dining out in the otherwise touristy Georgetown."

  • "I had the grilled calamari over linguini in a tomato sauce. Tasty, but the calamari were rubbery. Tiramisu, the house speciality, was pretty tasteless. Supposedly, the cake portion was to have been soaked in expresso, but there was no coffee flavor. Service was excellent. We ate very early, so noise level was low."

  • "This restaurant has a tiny little balcony on the second floor that looks out onto the 31st street and is so scenic and adorable! When I say tiny I do mean tiny, they only have I think 2 tables for 2 diners each, but if you're looking for a romantic date spot this is the spot! "

  • "My boyfriend took me here for my birthday this year, and the food was wonderful. I had the mushroom ravioli in butter and truffle oil. It was divine. Our service, however, was less than I expected. The waitress forgot what I ordered, and had to return to ask twice, she also brought my boyfriend a beer that he never ordered. I might have understood if they had been busy that night, but it was fairly quiet while we were there. Overall, our experience was a good one, but I would have enjoyed it even more if our service had been better."

  • "My wife and I go to restaurants all over the DC metro area and I can say without hesitation that Ristorante Piccolo is absolutely one of the best we have ever been to. We have gone twice and each time it is a shear delight. This last time we had the privilege of sitting on the balcony over looking the Georgetown side street. What a wonderful time. The food could not have been any better nor the environment. We sat for a long time just talking about life, our kids, and the future. I LOVE this restaurant and will most definitely go back. I did not put a check mark for "great of outdoor dining" because the seating is extremely limited. We ate indoors our first time and that was equally as wonderful."

  • "A lot to like at this small convivial restaurant. Some dishes like the seafood risotto had fine flavor but were over salted and garlicked"

  • "This place was phenominal. We had a great seat by the front window in a bit of a private setting. And the food!! The prices were extroridinary and the quality of the food was superb. I had the Agnolotti ai Porcini (mushroom ravioli). The sauce was a little heavy and greasy but the flavor of the homemade pasta was sooo very good! We also ordered the Pappa al Pomodoro soup. I could have eaten that all day. I wish I had the recipe! The bruschetta was quite good and my boyfriend ordered Linguine al Paesano and finished the plate. I saw another review that said the mushroom ravioli portion was small. I would definitely disagree. There were 5 large raviolis on the plate which I had trouble finishing. Not to mention the price was great"
