  • "If all you want is great food, perfect ambiance and impeccable service you've come to the right place. From drinks through dessert everything was perfect. The pastas are fabulous. the fish fabulous. I had the swordfish which can often be dry & overcooked, this was delicious. My husband and son shared the steak, not a piece went uneaten. And dessert was not only beautifully plated but a wonderful end to our evening."

  • "Had a fantastic meal here- so much so that i went back a few weeks later with more people so they could try this place. For the UES this is the go-to modern italian spot with a very cool vibe in the downstairs bar/seating area. First time I did the pre-fixe menu which, relatively speaking, was a great deal. Thinking you would get smaller portions of the dishes was a mistake, it was full size and full of flavor. Risotto was creamy and delicious, the veal chop was above and beyond worth the 9$ supplement. The second time, I went with the pork chop which was.. a touch underwhelming relative to the veal. The desserts are very good, just modern so don't expect a typical tiramisu! The tartaletta di ricotta was divine - service outstanding- bravo!"

  • "Don't know why restauranters need to escort you into an empty restaurant and seat you at the worst table in the place. But Morini did it. So, then you have to say, "no, I would rather sit in one of the many empty nicer tables please...." Why start a relationship with a customer this way? Then the fact that this neighborhood restaurant charges way too much, bothers you even more. And the fact that the chef doesn't cook the food to the desired and specifically requested temperature bothers you more. And so you say to yourself, I'm not going back there."

  • "The food was good, not spectacular ... and certainly not worth the hefty price. The crudo - sardines were excellent; the snails, non descript but the soft shell crab was very good. Pasta, their usual strength, was mixed at best and the main courses were just good but nothing special. Service was excellent"

  • "I never appreciate being served out of order from being seated. The table to our right was served before we were even though we were seated before they were. They were brought bread. We were ignored. The service was terrible because the staff:client ratio is suboptimal. The noise was intolerable. Even though we asked for a quiet table, the table was terrible noisy. And what's funny is the room was filled with many seniors. I have no idea how they heard each other. My pasta dish had two different sizes of pasta and no cheese. Clearly the clientele on the UES do not demand great italian food. And because of that gap, I will not demand a seat in future. SKIP IT."

  • "The food seems good and if that's all you care about then this is a fairly good choice. Think of this place as a brasserie. Inept service and lunchroom atmosphere. Three separate times the wait staff reached over the full plate of food to retrieve silverware or serve bread or fill water. When you put your fork down while others are eating , the plate is wisked away as if they are short of plates and need it back. Tables are crammed in and the room is nothing special. This is not a place for anything except a good meal (hat's off to the kitchen) poorly served in a mediocre decor. I am not sure I would bother to return since for these prices you can do much better elsewhere."

  • "The food here is excellent, the service very good but you have to be willing to put up with the way the sounds bounce off the windows, mirrors, wood floors, etc. Portions are small and prices are very high, but if price is no object, this is a great choice on the upper East side. We all had delicious salads, including one with what my husband said was the best soft shell crab he'd had all season. Fish and pasta entrees were small but beautifully presented and very tasty."

Would try again, some of the food was delicious and there are few upscale alternatives in the area. Maybe they are still new and will iron out the service kinks."

Other great dishes were the asparagus salad and calamari and burrata salad. The ravioli was fantastic and full of flavor. Can't wait to go back."

Menu misrepresented items: i.e. salad of peaches with arugula had no arugula. Service was ragged at best. Wine not brought out until appetizer and only then after repeat request. Hopefully, can work out the kinks over next few weeks."

  • "This restaurant tries very hard, and almost makes it. Two of us ate there recently. For appetizers, the foie gras terrine was outstanding, but the asparagus soup was too dark and leaning toward, but not quite, bitter. For main dishes, the pasta bolognese was all pasta, very little bolognese. The spaghetti with seafood, however, was quite good. The deserts were elaborate, but not what you would call delicious. The service was outstanding. I should add that for me, music adds a great deal to the experience, but the music playing was a sort of nondescript jazz. Some high quality classical music, some vocals from the American songbook, several other kinds of music could have made the food taste better; this music made it taste worse."

  • "Ristorante Morini is a very welcome addition to the dining scene on Madison in the 80s - and the perfect place for lunch in the area. In fact, I was astonished that it wasn't packed! We had a perfect corner table with a view of Madison Avenue and thoroughly enjoyed our bellinis and salads. But the highlight was unquestionably the risotto - one of the best I've had in New York (or anywhere outside of Milan, actually!) It's filling - so the half portion is the way to go!"

  • "Dozens of waitstaff and managers prowling the floor, yet we never got anything without virtually waving a flag to get attention and asking twice, at least, for just about everything. They couldn't manage to get all the entrées on the table at the same time, or clear the table except in delayed installments. Some of the food was fine; some was thuddingly uninteresting. Amateur service in an unspecial space. Just one big "why bother?" "

  • "What a place for a special occasion. My son who lives on the Upper East Side recommended it to us. What a pleasant surprise and wonderful meal. From the seared scallops to the spaghetti with seafood to the dover sole and cheese plate. All were prepared with exquisite taste and the service could not have been better from the bread person to the waiter and sommelier who was spot on with her recommendation. I will certainly return"

  • "Average pasta dishes. Arctic char was good but the vegetables it came with were overcooked and tomatoes were sour. Appetizer and the foccacia were best items. Was hoping for a Convivio-like experience with the pasta dishes, but am afraid those days of Michael White's restaurants might be gone unless he is doing the cooking himself. Very expensive-- should have been better. 2.5 or 3 stars out of 5. "
