  • "Two friends and I had a wonderful meal at Ristorante Morini recently, during restaurant week. Each dish we had was delicious, and the service was impeccable. The staff were so attentive, and even when one member of our party arrived very late they were able to accommodate us so that we all had our courses at the same time. Stand out dishes included the poached cod and the lobster ravioli, which were both incredible. And a special thank you to the wine director, Richard, for being so gracious!"

  • "While we want to love this place there's something that holds us back. It's not outright formal but we can't seem to understand its identity. Definitely not geared to families - which is weird for this neighborhood that could use another lunch & dinner spot that's comfortable for everyone. While they're not unfriendly towards children, there's not a lot that would jump out to children or teens on the menu. Plus, the prices are more midtown expense account than "let's go out for dinner with the family." The first floor bar area is lively & stylishly decorated and I'd be much more likely to go there than upstairs and I cannot figure out why since the upstairs is lovely but again reminds me of a high end tourist or business place."

  • "My mother was visiting, and we were visiting the Met (only a few blocks away), and I had enjoyed dinner at Ristorante Morini, AND I like all of Michael White's restaurants in general, so it seemed like the thing to do for lunch. It was great! Elegantly but efficiently served. A real value. The menu was extremely well-chosen and showed off the strengths of the restaurant. We had the shrimp pasta and the sage chicken, and I would not hesitate to recommend either, although the pasta, as is to be expected in a Chef White spot, was the real star. Lots of MMMMs. The desserts, so often an afterthought for Restaurant Week, were fab, especially the chocolate olive oil cake."

  • "My 4th visit here and the least satisfying. Food continues to be very good but the service was so slow. The restaurant was not busy but our waitress had great difficulty finding time to take our order follow-up on requests etc. She was very pleasant just didn't provide good service. We had to flag down a busboy to get pepper when our appetizers were served. salt and pepper grinders were brought to the table but cleared away with the appetizer plates. When the entrées appeared, again we had to flag down someone to get salt and pepper. My first three experiences here were much better; hope my experience this time was an anomaly."

  • "On a cool July evening, AC was a full blast. Waiter tried to help but the temp went from comfortable back to freezing every few minutes. Unimpressed with the food. Restaurant may be too big to turn out really great food, and it should be great at this price. Had to wait 15+ minutes for the check on a quiet night. Wife left to get outside to warm up."

  • "If all you want is great food, perfect ambiance and impeccable service you've come to the right place. From drinks through dessert everything was perfect. The pastas are fabulous. the fish fabulous. I had the swordfish which can often be dry & overcooked, this was delicious. My husband and son shared the steak, not a piece went uneaten. And dessert was not only beautifully plated but a wonderful end to our evening."

So, then you have to say, "no, I would rather sit in one of the many empty nicer tables please...." Why start a relationship with a customer this way? Then the fact that this neighborhood restaurant charges way too much, bothers you even more. And the fact that the chef doesn't cook the food to the desired and specifically requested temperature bothers you more. And so you say to yourself, I'm not going back there."

  • "I never appreciate being served out of order from being seated. The table to our right was served before we were even though we were seated before they were. They were brought bread. We were ignored. The service was terrible because the staff:client ratio is suboptimal. The noise was intolerable. Even though we asked for a quiet table, the table was terrible noisy. And what's funny is the room was filled with many seniors. I have no idea how they heard each other. My pasta dish had two different sizes of pasta and no cheese. Clearly the clientele on the UES do not demand great italian food. And because of that gap, I will not demand a seat in future. SKIP IT."

  • "The food seems good and if that's all you care about then this is a fairly good choice. Think of this place as a brasserie. Inept service and lunchroom atmosphere. Three separate times the wait staff reached over the full plate of food to retrieve silverware or serve bread or fill water. When you put your fork down while others are eating , the plate is wisked away as if they are short of plates and need it back. Tables are crammed in and the room is nothing special. This is not a place for anything except a good meal (hat's off to the kitchen) poorly served in a mediocre decor. I am not sure I would bother to return since for these prices you can do much better elsewhere."

  • "The food here is excellent, the service very good but you have to be willing to put up with the way the sounds bounce off the windows, mirrors, wood floors, etc. Portions are small and prices are very high, but if price is no object, this is a great choice on the upper East side. We all had delicious salads, including one with what my husband said was the best soft shell crab he'd had all season. Fish and pasta entrees were small but beautifully presented and very tasty."

  • "Food very good. Service spotty; sat for a while before anyone took drink order or talked to us. We had to ask for brought bread. Prices too high, corkage fee a high $50. Would try again, some of the food was delicious and there are few upscale alternatives in the area. Maybe they are still new and will iron out the service kinks."
