Diner Reviews
  • "Delicious Italian food! Very creative presentation! Had the fresh fish prepared table-side: Dover Sole and Branzino. Superb service!"

  • "I love Ristorante La Locanda! All the waiters are for Italy which makes it special plus food is excellent."

  • "Love this place! Excellent menu, excellent food, great service! Our waiter was knowledgeable about the food, very friendly, extremely attentive yet he did not make us feel rushed. Highly recommend !"

  • "This was our first visit to this restaurant having received a gift certificate, It was good. Food was tasty and hot. Caesar salad was very fresh. However, the lobster bisque soup was horrible. There was no lobster! It was a bowl of pink cream with tons of minced roasted red peppers. It tasted more like roasted pepper bisque rather than lobster. Angel hair and crab entree was also somewhat disappointing. The menu said "jumbo lump crab".....it was very far from jumbo anything. There were several small pieces of white crabmeat, but that was about it. The sauce tasted like basic red marinara, not like the crab had been cooked in it. My husband enjoyed his entree and the sauces used were tasty. Desserts were just okay."

  • "We stumbled upon La Locanda while searching for food and warmth back in January during the power outage. They found us a table, despite being very crowded, and even though we were not dressed as nicely as the restaurant deserves - we felt bad about looking bad, but we sure did enjoy a warm, delicious meal in a great setting. Fast forward to our recent reservation - we had to get all dolled up for our family picture in our church directory, and figured we should go out afterward, while we were looking our best - our first thought was "La Locanda!" Once again, we enjoyed a great meal (with our 2 middle school children, even) and this time we were dressed for the occasion."

  • "If you are enjoying lunch here, it's wonderful. Dinner is also delicious just a little noisy. But that's acceptable because the food makes up for the noise."

  • "This used to be a restaurant with good solid Italian food. The last few times the salads have been drowning in dressing. Since the brick oven is gone the bread is just boring. Dinners are either drenched in sauces or oil or overcooked."

  • "This is a great spot for authentic Italian food in the suburbs. The inside atmosphere is very nice, feels like you are in Italy, the bar has a lot of activity and the food is first rate. Had the Screpelles soup to start, really good chicken broth with pasta, spouse had a Veal Shank special with risotto, she loved the flavors but it was did not "fall off the bone" as advertised, but still good and very generous portion. I had the Linguine Pescatore with red sauce, really nice portion of pasta with plenty of mussels, clams, shrimp, and calamari. Had gelato for dessert and a nice Malbec recomended by the waitress. The waitress was great, very attentive and knowledgable about the menu. Glad we came back to an old favorite of ours."

  • "This restaurant has been here forever. It wasn't till recently that me and my husband went there that we discovered what we were missing. The restaurant is in an old house and they have maintained most of the original floor boards, fire place, etc... It is very romantic with tables not too close together. The food is awesome! A must try is the dessert "Hot Love". It is great for a couple to share. I cant say enough about it. This is the second time there and my only complaint about this past time was the waiter was not very attentive."

  • "This was my first time to La Laconda and it was a wonderful dining experience. It was a busy Saturday night but our server was attentive without the annoying interruptions found at other places. We were not rushed and left to enjoy our meal which we did immensely. I tried the Screppelles soup which was recommended and it did not disappoint. The lobster ravioli had large chunks of lobster and was delicious. It was a pleasant evening and a place I look forward to dining at again."

  • "I love the old school Italian vibe of this place: excellent food and service, but still cozy and comfortable. The food is always very good and there is always a mix of couples, groups and families dining about. It works for everyone! Great pasta dishes and my husband really enjoyed the Veal Chop. We've also been there for the 7 fish dinner on Christmas Eve, which was wonderful."

  • "Reasonably priced menu and wine selection. Service slow, but very friendly; had to ask about night's specials when placing orders. We had lasagna (tasty, but a bit dry and medium warm), Dover Sole (final prep table-side and very enjoyable) & veal saltimbocca (medium warm, sage overpowering), pasta side (dry and medium warm). Suspect that large private party had over-burdened kitchen and wait-staff. Probably won't re-visit."

  • "Mid-week business lunch. Everyone was delighted with the home made screpples and minestrone soups. Perfect for this cold winter day. From salads, to panni's to chicken cutlet sandwiches it was a great treat for a business lunch. Come see all the new renovations and special touches Mario and Franco have added."

  • "This was our first visit to this restaurant and from the reviews we thought we would give it a try. The food as well as the service was very good but we really did not like the Sun Room dining room. The decor was not as nice as the other two dining areas that we walked through while we were waiting to be seated. If I had known that we were to be seated in sun room I would have waited for a table to be available in one of the other two dining rooms."

  • "The food and service were top notch. The atmosphere is great. La Loconda never disappoints."

  • "Food and service were good, not enough pasta with the chicken parm. They accepted my Visa gift card at the bar, but wouldn't accept it for dinner, don't quite understand why. Luckily I had some cash:/"

  • "it was delicious, however very crowded on Valentine's Night. Great selection and nicely presented. Desserts delicious, too. I would dine here again in a heartbeat."

  • "We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. The Italian food menu contains lots of choices in every section, including salads, pasta, veal, chicken, fish, beef and a few vegetarian. Their eggplant La Locanda is a particular stand-out appetizer. Pricing is high, but the quality of the food and the dining experience is worth it. Figure on approximately $50 per person as a benchmark, although you could spend much less without alcohol and major entrées. This restaurant is particularly great for special occasion dinners and the management will accommodate various special requests and demonstrate a sweet attitude."

  • "Business lunch - mid week. 3 of our four guests sampled the BEST OF THE MAIN LINE award winning Screpples soup. Main Line Today Magazine got it right - as this soup is not to be missed. We followed our soup with tasty, fresh fresh salads, and wonderful service as always. Mario and Franco have added lots of wonderful new touches to this great restaurant, if you haven't been in a while, you need to come back!"

  • "As usual, it was a great dining experience. The drinks and the food are excellent. The service is great. I love the atmosphere. We lucked out and got a table by the fireplace. Our server was very personable and attentive. We were seated right away at our 7:30 reservation time. It is always a great meal at this restaurant."

  • "This was a birthday dinner for a small group of friend at 7pm on a Friday night. The parking lot was jammed and there was a crowd at the door. We were seated within a few minutes after the reservation time. I would have given 5 stars for the Service, but the restaurant was jammed (no waiter for ~10-15 minutes, no water, no bread until prompted). Once we got attention, the service was prompt and efficient. The food was excellent for all parties. The wine list was extensive. The cocktail list was focused mostly on martinis...which were well executed. Overall a good experience, though I believe the restaurant was suffering from a 6-7pm crush of customers."

  • "When was the last time you went? Mario and Franco have completely upgraded the restaurant! Food always spot on, service is stellar and now two brand new rooms to enjoy. If it's been a while, it's time for you to go again! You will not be disappointed. The branzino served table side and the home made pastas are amazing."

  • "Food here is always delicious! Service is great too, the wait staff works very hard to make sure everyone is taken care of. The only problem I did have was one of the managers berating a member of the staff on the restaurant floor. He also was screaming at the cooks in the kitchen. In my opinion this should not be happening in front of customers."

  • "Been going for a long time and recently got the Bronzino. It was really bland and I'm losing interest quickly."

  • "Went with two other couples on Monday evening before Christmas. We had a reservation, hostess was a bit frazzled but we were seated just fine. Service spotty. One drink order forgotten, two orders were only tepid. Could be the holiday rush had the staff and kitchen off their game. Worth trying once more."

  • "Our dinner was excellent as expected, for we have been longtime customers at LaLocanda. The veal is always delicious and the saltimbocca is a favorite. This time, however, the service was particularly exceptional. Our server was the best that I can remember. A grown up who knows how to do it at a good restaurant. Excellent appetizers and wine choices also."

  • "I thought the food was just ok tonight...it was pricey and was not worth the cost...However service was awesome"
    Dined on 12/20/2013
  • "Service was great. The food is WAY overpriced for the portions. We were seated in a room off the main dining room which felt like we were at the "kids table in the kitchen". It was so disconnected from the main dining room. The manager did offer to move us but we were almost through dinner so we declined."

  • "LaLocanda is a great restaurant, conveniently located and always up to par. Never had a bad meal and the people employed there are especially nice from the time you enter until you leave."

  • "Food was so great - Best fresh mozzarella salad ... melts in your mouth!"
    Dined on 11/22/2013
  • "Food, Service & Decor was Very Good. Prices for liquor (per glass) as we had just a couple of drinks seemed over priced. Dining room we sat seemed to have too many tables. Don't like to dine and feel I can almost reach over and pat the next diner on the back. Noise level was loud which detracted from romantic and intimate dining. Too many people constantly walking by and brushing by our table (distracting). Passersby were both patrons and staff. This kind of foot traffic is akin to chain restaurant dining which is probably not what you are going after. Would definitely go back as the food was fanatastic."

  • "Why do I say this place has "it" figured out... When we walked on a Sunday afternoon, we were greeted by a a courteous gentlemen who escorted us to our table making special accommodations for our 1 year old son. Our waiter, obviously a seasoned pro (not a college kid trying to earn beer money) was great; he offered us the option of ordering from the dinner menu in addition to their brunch menu. We ate and drank well, but more importantly we were taken care of as if we were guests in the home of the greatest hosts. We attend church services down the road quite often and when our schedule permits, we dine their afterwards. I cant wait to take my family their for dinner."

  • "There was 6 of us at dinner. We all had different things and each entree was bad. The Lobster Risotto tasted like it was from a box, and there was one tiny piece of what seemed to be intimation lobster meat. The veal tasted like some kind of game meat. Rest of food was just plain bland. Seems like a place for banquets. Was always wondering about this place and now I know. Will not be going back."

  • "Was going to a club to see a band in Newtown Sq. on a Saturday night and wanted to have dinner with a fiend first, I found this Resturant on line and it had resceived postive reviews from former patrons. They did not lie, from the time we walked in the expirence was good, greated right away even though it was very busy, and got a seat at the bar while we waited a few minutes for our reserved seating. the place was very busy, I might say even packed but our waiter, Luchiano, was very attentative to our needs. The food was very good and the price was very good for the quality of the food. this was a great find and I will be back."
