Ristorante Il PoetaAn Authentic Italian RestaurantMario, the Venetian chef, offers a constantly changing menu variety. His food is NOT the typical Italian-American brand, with excess tomato sauce and melted cheese toppings; rather, he offers the sort of food that is served in high-end restaurants in northern Italy. (We say this as diners who have spent several happy years living and eating in Italy.)
Luca, the head-waiter and other partner, is excellent in helping customers through the menu, offering to have Mario vary the menu choices to appeal to needs and interests of customers.
The wine-list is excellent, combining both American and Italian choices and the ambience of quite pleasant. We've eaten many times at Il Poeta during the last few years and have never been disappointed.1/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a very nice dinner hereHad a very nice dinner here for a very last minute reservation on open table.1/5/2013 12:00:00 AMIL POETA on Metropolitan AvenueIL POETA on Metropolitan Avenue in Forest Hills is among some reliably great restaurants. This Sunday evening was my third visit to Il Poeta. Their menu offers some out-of-the-ordinary Italian selection. My dining companion had the fish special and I the lamb chop special with spinach salad and crab cake appetizers, beautifully presented and very tasty. An enjoyable experience, again.12/9/2012 12:00:00 AM
