The atmosphere here is elegant, refined and perfect to have a nice conversation among friends. If you are looking for a rousing however, time this isn't the place! The food was delicious although we were a bit taken aback upon receiving the bill at having been charge a relatively high fee for every split plate we ordered. For having only two other tables in the room engaged (and the bar was already cleared out), the service was extremely slow and unresponsive. We were neglected for much of the evening. As each of our 4 guests arrived and ordered a drink to start it took 15 minutes to get the order delivered for which there is no excuse. We had to seek out our waiter at one point just to place our order.

The food was outstanding, maybe not true Italian, but flavors were stimulating your palate! Rare in Houston, portion were elegant, and not too much. Deserts were absolutely original, outstanding! Service though was a disaster, wrong order taken, pushing drinks consummation, not attentive to the table. NONE of the 5 waiters we saw that night had a smile, a positive attitude. All very poilte but they seemed very sad ... working in such environment they should enjoy their job and share with clients!

We came to dine for our anniversary and we were not disappointed with the food and service. We chose the chef's tasting menu with wine pairing. It was fantastic. The wine pairing was exceptional. During each course, the chef and sommelier came to the table and explained the food and wine. It was an unforgettable evening. The service was outstanding. The servers were professional and attentive. They were never intrusive to your privacy. They are very polished and knowledgeable. I will definitely return. Thank you for this special evening.

We are not travelers per say. We do however always look for what we hope are amazing restaurants and hotels when we are traveling. We found it at the Hotel Granduca and Ristorante Cavour. Food was amazing. Service can be found anywhere you are paying for fine dining. What we found at Cavour was well trained, smiling, and very professional servers and greeters. I think we found our to go to spot next time we are in Houston.

Our second visit to Ristorante Cavour and it was just as good or better than the first visit. Started off with a shrimp cocktail and beautiful appetizer of proscuitto, grilled peaches, and water cress. Ordered a tenderloin that was superb. Cooked perfectly (med. rare) and had that awesome velvety texture. My husband ordered a veal chop that was cooked to perfection and it wasn't even on the menu. Dessert was fantastic......had panna cotta and cheese cake. Elegance and great food, what more could you ask for?? :)

Unfortunately this restaurant doesn't really serve Italian cuisine. The menu is ridiculously short and has a mix of fusion dishes that try to capture some of the Italian most known traditions without really succeeding. I've tried the ossobuco, but I can say that you can get it better in a far less posh place on the Eldridge(77079). The tables are so closed together that you are never dining alone. My wife wanted to return the fish as it was not well cooked and badly seasoned. Maybe we had high expectations, however we are not planning to return.

Ambiance is nice, but some tables were crowded too close. We were disrupted by the conversation of the couple sitting at the next table. The loud music from the bar area, which is not real close to the dining area was intrusive. Food was good, but not exceptional. Food for this caliber of restaurant was just average.

Everything was perfect! I have nothing to complain about this place. Great service, absolute gorgeous place, fantastic food! My husband and I went to celebrate our first Anniversary and we loved how they want you to take your time to enjoy your meal with no hush at all. They just make you feel very comfortable there. We were there for 3 hours! We had the Chef's tasting menu which was a great choice cause we could try many different things. I absolutely recommend this place. Oh, and the wine list... I won't even say anything. Just go there and check it out.

Ristorante Cavour continues to be one of our favorite restaurants for both its excellent customer service (where everyone welcomes and greets you by name) and food. The staff is always helpful about wine suggestions, and menu recommendations - we've rarely been disappointed. On this visit, the ambiance was wonderful - fairly quiet on a Friday night in the restaurant, but the bar area had nice live music, from a duo that plays a nice variety of jazz and pop.

Before this dinner, I have only gone to this restaurant for Sunday brunch and liked it. But the dinner was totally disappointed. The service was lousy. We have to ask the hostess to fetch our server several times to get what we wanted. The only one who was attentive is the guy who kept on refilling our glasses because they charged $7 a bottle. The food is mediocre. My friend who had the fish complained about the temperature of the food is off. The manager (I assumed) said maybe the food got cold because of the distance the food had to be brought out from the kitchen to us. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I felt bad because I picked this restaurant and for the price we paid, definitely not worth it.

We went to Cavour on a last minute impulse. The elegant dining room, skilled, efficient and quiet service, the attractive scenery both inside and outside the restaurant made for a great start. The menu, while limited in the number of selections, was all attractive and the taste and presentation of the food, exquisite. The wine list is extensive and covers all areas of the world with quality selections. The ability to talk to your dinner companion without yelling was such a delightful change from many of our more prominent restaurants in Houston that we will be back to thsi place, and often.

We have eaten at Cavour about 10 or 15 times. It is usually quiet enough to permit conversation. The service is prompt and attentive, but a little unsophisticated. Sadly, the food has become mediocre. I had gnocchi that was too big and too soft, although reasonably flavored. Branzino, a delicate fish, was overpowered by a strong tomato sauce such as one would expect from Olive Garden. I don't think we will return, despite the relatively pleasant ambiance.

I needed a special, unique location for my 15th anniversary dinner. After reading numerous reviews of this restaurant, I booked a 6:30pm Saturday time slot. Being an anniversary dinner, I was hoping for a quiet and romantic experience. That's exactly what I received! The ambiance was beautiful and quaint. The service was absolutely top notch. They made us feel like we were the only diners in the restaurant (which we were for a while). The vast variety of food was all prepared perfectly, and the portions were great for a multi-course seating. The wine, which was recommended and not on the menu, was a delight. I can honestly say that Ristorante Cavour helped make my anniversary a huge success. I will be returning!!!!

4 couples dined there Saturday night, all ordering different cocktails, starters, entrees, wine, desserts, etc. Rather than ask for 4 separate checks, we said just add it all up, and we would each pay 1/4. 45 minutes later, we inquired about the check, and were told they were still working on it. When it arrived, there were 4 receipts, each over 24" long, with every item appearing 4 times at 1/16th of the value. I don't know how they made it so difficult! My advice: just ask for separate checks and don't try to make it easy. The food was great.

My wife and I dined early on a Saturday night and had a very pleasant experience. We were greeted by name at the door and had a nice table by the window. This was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised as we didn't know much about the restaurant, but it seemed to have a good reputation overall...and we found that to be valid. The food was very good. I especially liked my mushroom gnocchi! It was a very intimate setting. The waitstaff were attentive without hovering. It was pricy but that was expected and overall we felt we got a good value. We also stayed the night at the hotel which was also very nice with a lot of Italian character and unexpected in the midst of a busy metropolitan area.

The service was poor to the point of non existance and being seated near fussy infants did not help. They seemed more interested in selling their imported bottled water (their bottled water menu was offered twice) than the fact that the food did not come out correctly (near rare insted of medium) and nobody even asked how the food was. This was a major dissapointment.
