Diner Reviews
  • "This restaurant is located inside the Grand Geneva Resort, and as a result I found the prices to be a bit high as they often are in a 'closed' community resort. Despite that, I thought the meal was excellent as was the wine, and the focaccia bread was to die for. The wine list is all Italian as befits the menu. We had the opportunity to book a window table for two looking out over the resort woodlands and golf course during a brief storm. The sunlight on the clouds at dusk and a rainbow made a wonderful show, too. We had the Capellini and Crab, as well as a lobster dish. Both were filling and exquisite. The room was never entirely full on a Sunday night with the hotel very busy. The only reason for 4 stars is 'value'."

  • "The food and the service was amazing! We eat it all and dessert was exquisite! Holly made our first experience there a very special one and she was nothing but great, knowledgeable of all menu items, and help us select out our entrees. I won't hesitate to go back again."

  • " Food was mostly good, other than ceaser salad too garlicky & lobster in $38 entree overcooked. Calamari app was delicious, and cappuchino was v.good too. My husband waited over 15 min for water at one point even after asking a server and busser passing by 3+ times. Was a nice evening out with live quartet in lobby and view from large window. etc but won't rush back."

  • " Homemade Pappardelle with Bolognese was horrible. The noodles were firm, chewy, and stuck together and they tasted like raw flour. The sauce was flavorless and watery. This used to be a tasty, higher end restaurant. Not anymore."

  • "Food is always outstanding. But time and time again, servers are untrained and possess little knowledge about the food or wine list. There is usually one exceptional waiter in the room (Gabriel comes to mind) and the others mostly seem clueless."

  • "Thank you for the rose peddles on our table. My wife and I celebrated our thirty fifth anniversary at your restaurant. I gave my wife a single red rose and it matched the peddles on the table. Our waitress was nice, and we will cherish the memory. Thank you all, and the food was exceptional. JK Chambers"

  • "Great food and wine. Service was great! The lobster with the homemade noodles was incredible."

  • "My wife and I had the five course meal which included several dishes we would not had ordered if they were explained to us as a special by themselves but we were in the adventurous mood so we went with it and we both were glad we did. With the exception of the soup all the items were excellent and the soup wasn't bad just not something we would not have again. Our server was fantastic, informative and fun. We ate at 6:30 so the place was not crowded but as the night went on it became full at which time the noise level got a bit high and there were a couple is fussy kids at times which was the only real negative. We will be going back."

  • "After looking forward to a great Italian meal, we were sorely disappointed. Several dishes were heavy handed in the seasoning; too much salt, wine, or garlic. Staff was understanding and attentive. Scenic view is stunning. The food preparation needs more careful attention. Wait till the staff has more experience here before dining here."

  • "We attended a special event and then planned for a great dinner. What a disappointment. Our server Holly/Molly was great. The food was bland, over priced and undersized. The calamari was the only thing that was good. Lasagna - bad. Pasta with meat sauce (don't remember the name) - terrible. How do you screw that up? Simple: overcook the noodles, serve them wet and cover with bland sauce."

  • "I have always rated this restaurant high. I have always gotten a perfect meal and great service. This time, the service was still very good, but I was a bit disappointed with my meal. Brissago is known for its Chilean Sea Bass. Whenever I stay at the Grand Geneva this is the only thing I order. Typically the sea bass is topped with a light lobster sauce. I cannot eat anything with lobster so have always asked for the Chef to give me another type of sauce that will compliment the fish. The sea bass was perfect, but the sauce that was give to me (on the side) was a chunky tomato meat sauce. Needless to say, I did not put the meat sauce on the fish. First time of many visits this has happened. Still rate Brissago high. Will return."

  • "Put in a reservation there for my wife's birthday. The only reservation time available was 5:30 but that was ok. They opened promptly at 5:30 and seated us at a window table. The flowers I ordered from open table were at the table and were great. SERVICE-The server knew every item on the menu from memory and the entire experience with her was perfect. FOOD-The quail appetizer was really good with a to-die-for sauce. Caprese salad had mozzarella that melted in your mouth. Osso Bucco was fantastic. The guitar string pasta with lobster was very tasty but the lobster would not come out of the shell with the utinsils so had to rip it out by hand. Hard to do without getting the juice/sauce everywhere. Not a big deal. LOVED the place!"

  • "Every year my husband and I treat ourselves to a wedding anniversary celebration at Brissago. They never fail to provide a wonderful dining experience from rose petals on a great table, to wonderful food to complimentary dessert, every staff member takes time to wish us a happy celebration and attends to every need. This restaurant is one of our all time favorites, and we have lived in Chicago and San Francisco where there are plenty of great restaurants. The food and overall experience at Brissago is second to none. Thank you for another terrific evening."

  • "We came here expecting great food and service. It is a pretty restaurant. The service was amateur. The execution on the food wasn't great. Table side Caesar salad was good. Homemade pasta was delicious but the chicken that came with it was so overcooked we almost couldn't cut it! Most of the dishes were fair at best."

  • "The food was absolutely delicious - each course was excellently prepared and the view was amazing for a romantic dinner date. Would definitely recommend this place!"

  • "We had our first dinner at Brissago just a few nights ago. It was really quite nice. The atmosphere was pleasant and quiet with several tables near the window with a nice view of the golf course. Our server, Holly, was terrific and we felt very attended to during the meal without being bothered. Table side Caesar salad was delicious as was the angle hair pasta with lump crab and penne pasta with Italian sausage. A very very light Pinot (Divinti?) easy to sip with the meal. We skipped dessert but still had a lovely time."

  • "We went to the restaurant for my boyfriends birthday. Not only did they have rose petals on the table for him, everyone that helped us told him happy birthday! After we ordered dessert the waitress took it off our bill to help us celebrate. The food was fantastic and we will be back! "

  • "The food was tasty when it arrived but each course including cocktails was served in shifts of 1 or 2 people at a time, we were a party of 4. The table side Caesar was silently prepared behind the person it was for after everyone else finished that course. Dirty dishes were stacked up on the table instead of removed after each course. 2 entries arrived barely cooked. Had to ask for our water to be refilled . Over an 1 1/2 in were were eating the second try of our entrees when the waitress asked if we wanted the check now or do we want dessert. Didn't appreciate the $15.00 children menu price either. We choose this restaurant because of a great experience there years ago.......oops!"

  • "Took mom here for Mother's Day dinner. We had tableside Caesar dalad, bottle of Italian Pinot noir. Mom got the pappardelle and I got the pollo arrosto. OUTSTANDING. Our server made great suggestions and they even have my mother a rose after dinner. We will be back when we are in the area again!!!!!!"

  • "This is a very fine resort restaurant that seems to be doing quite well…it was sold out for the evening we were there. Classic caesar salad prepared table-side is a nice reminder of fine dining of another era; and it does yield a better and much fresher salad. My wife and I shared pappardelle bolognese second course and sea bass for our main. Both were prepared perfectly, were flavorful and hot. The wine list was adequate although not extensive. Service was sufficiently attentive; our server was friendly but professional. All in all, a very good experience. "

  • "The ambiance and service are terrific. The wine list - delicious. The food - average. Overall a lovely special occasion restaurant but the food was very average. I expected more. Would still recommend it but not for the food."

  • "We celebrated our engagement here and it was super romantic! We were seated by the window with a lake view and they placed rose pedals on our table. The dishes were so tasty and the wine selection is great! My fiance really enjoyed the Old Fashion whiskey drink make with cherries from Italy! Great service and just a perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion!"

  • "We were here for my fiances birthday, and while our waitress was fine, the girl who was bussing our table was beyond rude. First, she took our appetizer away when there was still half remaining and we were clearly eating it. She never asked, just picked it up and started walking away, until we stopped her and asked if we could please finish it. Near the end of the meal, she took my wine glass away, again without asking and had walked away before I could say anything about how there was still wine in the glass that I would have liked to finish. Food was good, wine was good, but overall we walked away with a feeling of being seriously rushed and not able to enjoy our food."

  • "This was our second visit and again, outstanding service, food, and ambiance. We had the sea bass and tenderloin. Both were cooked as requested and had exceptional flavor. We requested substitues for the breads/potatoes and had some excellent options which were offered without hesitation. A 5 star place."

  • "We have visited this restaurant three times in the past two years. The first as a reconnaissance visit for a future small group get together. We enjoyed the experience, as did the group a month later. This visit was for a birthday celebration. From splitting a pasta entrée' as an appetizer, an excellent idea by the way, heirloom tomato salad to the Chilean Sea Bass simply put, it was wonderful. Our skilled server, Samantha, provided service equal to the meal. We consider this restaurant a special place for any occasion including a week day meal."

  • "What a lovely evening! My family was celebrating my birthday and the table looked beautiful with the rose petals. What a thoughtful touch. Even better were the two roses that I received at the end of the evening. If that wasn't enough, the food and service were impeccable. Thank you for a great celebration."

  • "Our original group of 4 mushroomed and the hostess was excellent. She relocated us to a larger table in a room within the dining room that was perfect for a group and where we would not disturb others enjoying their meals. Service was great. Food terrific. Some ordered fish, some Italian entre's and all came out at the same time with perfect presentation. When we asked for more bread (which was brochette), we were promptly provided two more plates. Wine list is wonderful."

  • "We were a large group of 10 adults and 7 children so we're given a lovely side room. The waitress was amazing with her knowledge of an extensive menu! Our only complaint was the long wait for the food. With a lot of very small children who had a big day at the water park at the resort, they were tired and hungry. We ended up rushing through our lovely meal after going through a lot of wine during the wait. $800+ later .....we do realize it is a lit of fiid to get out at one time. It was delicious!"

  • "I thought the food was fair for the cost of an entrée. When you pay $37 for a pasta entrée it should be memorable. Nothing memorable for my first experience at Brissago. The service was very good."

  • "Food was great, good ambience. The only issue the service was good but not great. Not sure if it was busy or understaffed but didn't see our server enough. I would for sure come back."

  • "And i think it will be our last visit. Edwardo is no longer there...who made your restaurant so enjoyable. The new server was completely uneducated. My Old Fashion was NOT the Old Fashion I used to get. and to top off the evening...You served COLD RED WINE! I dont ever complain...I own a restaurant...but if you dont get your key people back or train your new ones...i fear you too will be gone!"

  • "Over all a very good experience. Food was very flavorful, drinks well mixed and tasty. There was a little glitch in the service, but the staff more than made up for it. Would go back and will recommend to friends."
