  • "We go back often as this restaurant is our favorite pizza in the Marina. We may live in Sonoma but this restaurant sees us at least once per month. This is the place for the higher-end gourmet and very Italian style pizza. Service is attentive without being intrusive. Great happy hour daily."

  • "My wife and I thoroughly enjoy our dinner at Ristobar. It was a fitting finale to our three glorious weeks in SF. The food, wine and service was first class and I have to say that it was one of the dining highlights of our time in the city and we dined out many nights ! We both commented that if we're staying longer we would have gone back again. We actually stumbled across the restaurant when walking along Chestnut street on St Patricks say and were delighted by the service of the staff that day when all we wanted was a quick drink - my wife did not like the original drink and the waiter could not do enough to ensure that she got a drink that she liked. That service bought us back and we were not disappointed."

  • "We came for my father's 80th birthday, but I'm afraid the place was so noisy on a Saturday that my dad couldn't really enjoy the meal through all the noise. A nice room, and the wait staff was fine. The food was hit and miss: excellent pasta, but the filet and osso buck were curiously lacking in flavor (perhaps my mistake for ordering steak in an Italian restaurant…but the osso buck?) So I would recommend lunch for pasta. But the evening was a disappointment, unfortunately."

  • "1st visit back since it used to be the Gran Caffe. My girlfriend and were promptly seated. Ed, our server, took outstanding care of us throughout the evening. We didn't try the Valentine's prix fixe menu. It was a full house given the special occasion. Noise from people talking was noticeable but you didn't have to shout out. After an hour, some people left and the noise dropped considerably. All the food was delicious and the presentation added to our experience. Definitely recommend the paperdelle and agnolotti - just amazing! And the amalfi and budato di cioccolato were divine! We'll be back!"

  • "Our food was absolutely delicious! I will warn you that the portions are very small; however, they are exquisitely prepared. You just need to order more courses. We had their pizza as an appetizer. It was delicious as well. We liked our desserts too! Our cocktails were made to perfection. They tasted like a cocktail should taste with a good amount of alcohol. I hate a weak drink. Our waiter was so friendly. He even brought out samples of wine to make sure we would enjoy the bottle that we would buy. It was a pleasure eating here."

  • "There are no spaces suitable for a really special occasion. I should have called in advance to tell them, but we ended up near the toilets next to a "kiddie" table which wasn't very romantic. Service was fine, food excellent, wine list a problem because it is all Italian wines that we know nothing about. The waiter tried to be helpful with advice, though. We like going here because the food is good, it is always easy to get in and the noise level is tolerable."

Outstanding house made fresh pasta - we had three different dishes and they were all outstanding. The barata was the best we've ever had and don't miss the stuffed pepper appetizer.   • "I chose Ristobar because it was within walking distance of Crissy Field and the menu fit a wide range of eating preferences. They also have a full bar and good selection of Italian wines. Ristobar did not disappoint! Everyone was happy with their lunch and drinks with the exception of one in our party of seven who did not like the bloody mary because it wasn't spicy enough. I enjoyed mine, but it tasted different from any bloody mary that I have ever had before - something about the choice of tomato juice combined with the spices used. The restaurant has a lovely ambience with an elegant and high ceiling. Everyone (twenty somethings to fifty somethings) in our group liked the venue including locals and foodies!"

  • "We came here with a group of 8 for a friend's birthday party and had a wonderful experience. The ambiance was perfect...not too loud but good energy. The service was right on point and the food...oh the food! It was so delicious. We were able to order a bunch of small plates and also enjoy their homemade breadsticks which were super yummy! We had the seasonal gnocchi which were great...they were much larger than traditional gnocchi which made it fun. We had a couple sides such as the brussel sprouts, kale and the peperu...all which was savory and delicious. We also had cavatelli which was light and flavorful. And don't forget the wine! All in all, a fabulous experience!"

  • "We oftentimes forget about this wonderful Chestnut restaurant but every time I dine here, I am reminded why this is one of my favorite under the radar restaurant. Monday evening was pretty quiet but normally we tend to dine on the weekends where the activity is raised. Food and service is always amazing and the prices are in line with what you would expect. My only issue is I can never get through the menu because there are my favorites, and then new dishes I always want to try but can never seem to get to. Great restaurant for pretty much any occasion. They also have a great wine menu and full bar."

The manager appologized saying that they had given the wrong list. They were very nice but the complementary glass arrived when I was almost done with dinner. I am sure they will fix the problem.   • "Shared salad, pasta, pizza. Very different but quite elegant preparations. In my Open Table reservation, I asked for an outside table but none was reserved. The elegance of your cuisine deserves a higher level of welcome and service. Your wait-staffers were friendly and reasonably responsive, but they, too, would benefit from believing and understanding that they were serving a cuisine well above the average. By my measure, the best in the area at the moment."
