  • "Casual booth dining and excellent seafood. Order the crab dip!"

  • "Great dining service -food and service was top notch!"

  • "I went for the steamed crabs and they were terrible. They tasted like leftovers reheated. My aunts food had to be remade because it came out wrong."

  • "I was looking for a casual place to take some friends after an O's game and even tho some reviews werent stellar, the menu won me over. Our server was very friendly, attentive and prompt. We were seated in the alleyway which was quieter than the bar which we appreciated. We tried the crab dip (yummy), fried polenta (also yummy), crab mac and cheese (ridiculous) and the beer-battered mahi tacos (very good). We were all pleasantly surprised by the food, and there were plenty of other menu options we would have liked to try. Solid wine and cocktail list as well. Overall had a great night and will definitely come back!"

  • "Food was great. Fun atmosphere. Only negative was oppressive noise level that made it difficult to talk."

  • "We booked a reservation on open table for 9:30 & went early w/ hopes to get a table sooner. When we got there we were told nothing would be ready until 9:30. We were waiting outside and someone told is they just cancelled their 10 person reservation that was right then (table already set), so we went to see if we could be seated sooner. This was 8:20. We were told we had to wait until 9:30 b/c we had a reservation. I went online and scheduled a new reservation online for 8:45 for 5. The hostess tried to squeeze us into a 4 person booth. When I said something another hostess pointed out the other available table. After we sat, all was well. Food was good. A bit pricey for what you get IMO. Crablegs with no sides were $25. Restrm was messy."

  • "I took my father here for Father's Day. We initially wanted to sit outside, but the available table was in the middle of two occupied tables... if the tables were spread out more, it would have been enjoyable seating. We opted to sit in the bar area. The service was very prompt and very friendly. The crab mac & cheese was awesome. Their mimosa was ok, I wasn't too fond of the juice used, but the Bloody Mary was top notch (according to my father)!!! The seafood was fresh and delicious and the wait time was decent. Riptide comes highly recommended, I will definitely be back!!!"

  • "Food was fine, but overpriced. Maybe the bar and outside seating area is better than a full meal inside. Service is slow though we arrived before the crowd. Service picked up when we were ready to pay."

  • "Right on the Bay in Fell's Point, this is definitely a spot that tourists frequent. The decor was kitsch and everything about it screamed tourist. But that was no problem because the food was tasty and reasonably priced. Had a delicious margarita, on special for $5 on Mondays, and the crab cake sandwich was topped with bacon, quite tasty. "

  • "First my reservation ask for a deck seat or near a window. Instead we were seated in a dingy alley made into a seating area....it was near an outer window so we had a view of the inside. The waitress was nice however started with the spiel abotv it being the worst season for crab. Which only means the price on crabs are jacked. Then said the only thing they got for the day were small crabs but they were chesapeke nlue crabs, We were ready to leave and she said she thought they might have other crabs which were a tasteless muck of mediums. she just said they were mediums but were really small just to keep us there. Just horrible. I felt bad for the family near us who got their very first crabs...what a terrible representation of crabs."

  • " We brought my mother in law here who was visiting from Chicago. It's a great place to experience Baltimore's harbor and get some good seafood. She loved her crab cakes, and my wife really enjoyed the snow crab legs. The drinks were excellent, too. My only complaint was that the batter on my fish (I ordered fish and chips) was soggy and not crispy. Tasted like good quality fish, but crispy batter would've been more enjoyable."

  • "We had 7:00 reservations, on a Saturday night, we were seated immediately, by the bathroom. Which didn't bother us unless a line formed. We ordered the tuna tartare, half dozen oysters and the steamed clams. All were fantastic. We ordered the scallops with risotto and lobster ravioli, both not worth the price, lacking flavor, the scallops were way over cooked. And the risotto was mushy. We had 5 plates between the two of us and paid by 7:40. We didn't feel rushed but definitely a quick date night, we went down the street for dessert, their dessert selection was lacking. I would not come back. I think it's good for apps and drinks."

  • "We dined here early on a Saturday night, and Fells point and the restaurant were both very crowded. The music is WAAY too loud here, even in the covered patio. You can barely hear yourself talk, yet alone your table mates. The food is good, the service fine, but the ambiance leaves much to be desired. "

  • "Great seafood and fun place. Seated us promptly but you definitely need a res. "

  • "The food was ok but presentation was lacking. It felt more like a pub trying to be an upscale restaurant. Not great value for the price. The restaurant was very loud."

  • "We ordered the crab dip with baguette at the advice of the waitress and it was delicious. We also had the scallops over lobster risotto and the lobster ravioli. Both were very good without being overly decadent. They have a great beer selection. I would definitely recommend, and absolutely plan to go back!"

  • "Riptide by the Bay is the very first place I came to when I moved to Baltimore 3 years ago, and it is still one of my favorites in Fells point. They have great cocktails, good selection of beers, and excellent food, more notably their seafood. I've gotten things from sandwiches, fish tacos, to pizza and burgers. But what has always stood out to me was their crab dip and crab mac and cheese - to this day, theirs is my favorite in all of Baltimore. Don't let it's smaller size fool you, it's a great little nook to grab intimate drinks and hang out with friends. Love it :)"

  • "Our table wasn't ready at the time promised but the staff found us right away when it was. The food was great in the end but we felt a little pressured to order, hearing the kitchen was closing. There was a live guitar player which was nice background. The back room was quiet despite the front bar being loud and crowded!"

  • "Went to this restaurant for the first time and had a blast. Staff were friendly and made me instantly feel like I was a regular. Everything was made on site. Restaurant week menu was a good variety. Ordered the fried oysters based on staff recommendation and was not disappointed (never ate oysters before). Chef made lobster ravioli were to die for and the freshly made warm apple dumpling ala mode was a treat. Will definitely return to Riptide!!!"

  • "Went for restaurant week and was underwhelmed. The dining options were the exact same on the RW menu as the regular menu for the same price plus a mediocre dessert. I went with the standard menu and wasn't offered dessert at all, which made for an awkward 20 minutes white those who did do the RW menu had theirs. My drink never arrived and had to be reordered. The good was not bad, the scallops were well cooked but the risotto was underdone. I think this place is a great bar spot but would not come back for a real meal."

  • "While we went during restaurant week, we ordered off the regular menu. This place is famous for crabs, but we ordered a dozen oysters, soups, salads, and other seafood entrees. The oysters weren't cut properly from the muscle, making each of us struggle to get them off the shell, but that is my only complaint- oysters can be difficult to shuck. The hostess was pleasant and gave us our choice of tables- there were three of us, so she didn't put us with the row of couples, thankfully. Our server gave the perfect amount of attention and the kitchen accomodated substitutions. The wine list, although small, included some very good inexpensive options- Hess and Chateau St Jean by the glass= a treat for a crab house. We'll eat here again."

  • "Got there at 5:30 Saturday night for a small family dinner. Noise in the bar was so raucous and loud (punctuated by some inappropriate words) that we literally had to talk loud to hear ourselves. The noise reverberates from front to back. Seafood was good, and our server was awesome. Not sure I'd try here again for dinner, but for a feverish bar scene, I'd easily come back for a night of drinking."

  • "Our waiter, Clarence was above great! He was absolutely super. The food was excellent and we didn't have the menu for Valentines day. The mixed drink was mixed superbly and the wait on Valentines day was under 10 minuted. I truly enjoyed this place and will return. The one thing I was surprised about was the bill, it was no more expensive then going to a diner! Hats off!"

  • "We love coming here after work for a quick beer or two and some reasonably priced, quality food. Staff is friendly and fun. Live musicians to serenade you on the weekends. There's an outdoor crab room for smashing blue crabs when in season."

  • "Our go to spot when in Fells, casual atmosphere, reasonable prices, good food. Service varies, our waitress was just a little slow about our drink order."

  • "Went to Riptides on Saturday night with a large group. Made reservation with Open Table on line for 10 people but needed 12. Called several times during the week with no answer and finally got a hold of the nicest and friendliest people on Saturday morning. They were able to accomodate us in their upstairs room. Once we arrived, we were greeted by a very pleasant hostess and were waited on like they had no one else in the full restaurant. The waitress was excellent along with the busperson-they couldn't do enough for us. The food was delicious! Best Old Bay Wings I ever had--crispy, a little sweet and a bit spicy. All 12 of us would go back to Riptides!"

  • "Our table was not ready at the scheduled time. However the staff attempted to accommodate us with bar seating (strange wide table), outdoor seating -chilly, and upstairs -empty room,. Fortunately we were not in a hurry and chose to wait with a drink at the bAr. Once seated we had kind, accommodating service, the food was very good AND they gave us our first drink on the house for the wait!"

  • "Went with a group of 10 for a birthday celebration. Staff was attentive to the group and event, made great food and drink recommendations, and went above and beyond our expectations. The birthday girl's meal was prepared incorrectly, and due to the delay of the dish (only by 5 minutes and not a big deal), the server comped the meal and provided a hefty discount to the rest of the food bill. Everyone from the party was excited about the food and can't wait to go again!"

  • "I am not a soup person, but I wanted to take my friend's crab bisque! I only had one spoonful and I can't stop thinking about it. I had the Chilean sea bass. It was nice...I loved the pea hash that came with it. I would definitely go back but probably for takeout only. There isn't much of an atmosphere."

  • "Bar tender "too busy" to stuff olives with Gorgonzola cheese for a menu drink named "Gorgonzola stuffed olives Martini"! What is that about!! Waiter then told us they were out of crabs but would check with another place about getting some. They miraculously found some when we said we were leaving since that was the reason for our choosing this restaurant."
