  • "Great menu, beautiful fresh food. Waiter with just the right touch. We had the fab table in the window. Would go back in a heartbeat."

  • "We hadn't been to Ripple in a while and it is better than ever. Our party of four tried a wide variety of dishes and we loved all of them. The sommelier listened to our preferences and brought us some outstanding wine. We sat talking until late and never felt hurried or rushed. We will be back!"

  • "Limited menu, but the food is excellent. Chilled arugula soup with Greek yogurt was delicious. Servers are helpful and knowledgeable. Some of the dishes sound strange, but the innovative menu continues to shine. Not crazy about the pine cake dessert."

  • "great neighborhood spot with inventive food and a friendly bar scene"

  • "Great food, but food took so long to arrive and could not find our waitress at all for the rest of the meal (the table next to me had the same experience with their waiter). We constantly had to badger our bus staff to find our waiter/waitress for us."

  • "Ripple is a great addition to DC, fabulous creative food. However they should pay serious attention to the wine by the glass list. There is no reason in the world that glasses of good wine need cost $18, they offer a dearth of wines by the glass for $8 to 12, and that would absolutely limit our return despite the chef's formidable cooking and deserving nod as one of James Beards top ten young chef awards/nomination. The service was lack luster, delayed, a symptom of how busy they are."

  • "The food was great and the waiter was such a fun friendly guy. The portions were huge - plenty for a "to go" box."

  • "...and not a destination. Specifically went to Ripple to eat the famous baked to order chocolate chip cookies and milk, which were a disappointment. The cookies tasted like mass made frozen supermarket dough and looked like that too being clearly frozen. They came out perfectly round and had no sign of being homemade at the restaurant but rather Nestle or Pepperidge Farm. Anyway even bad cookies are usually edible so we ate them but didn't love them - especially after paying 8 bucks for 3 generic tasting and looking cookies. The best part of the meal was the sweet warm cornbread served when you first sit down. The service and ambience were both ok but not amazing enough to make me forget the average food."

  • "This restaurant is so delicious, their food is so fresh and wholesome. I tried everyone's dishes and they were all so delicious. We tried the cheese platter, lamb, pork, and bass dishes and butterscotch pudding for dessert--all were amazing! I don't normally like pudding nor butterscotch, but I loved their version. Everything is so good-I wish I could afford to eat there every week. The staff is really nice as well and its not stuffy at all, but still elegant. I have eaten at comparably priced restaurants in DC (Le Diplomate, The Hamilton, Medium Rare) and this one was the only restaurant where I left feeling satisfied with no complaints. I also thought their dishes were perfectly spiced and was not over salted. Try it! You will love it!"

  • "lInvited 2 friends who'd enjoyed Ripple as a new discovery. We were very lucky to have a table in the small front room. It became a private party for us. Delicious fresh bread. Beet salad. Risotto. Lime curd dessert....for me. One friend enjoyed saddle of lamb and another had 2 appetizers, which she claimed were just right for her. Casual...with good food."

  • "Food superb. Te wait staff is knowledgable and attentive without being the way. The only fault I would find is with the deco. In suc a arrow space one feels hemmed in. The dark tones are depressing."

  • "Skip the pork chop. Everything else served during our recent visit was outstanding."

  • "came for cioppino and sweetbreads had neither got scallops (2 scallops!!) asked to change mashed cod for a veg told NO as cod serving too small only 1 tbl spoon so veg would cost more.... noise was awful I had been warned of noise but it was worse then I could have expected None of us will return we were polite but altho food good expectations in general not met I spent 1/2 hour apologizing to my friends as I had over sold it and minute we sat down we knew it was over the top noisy for gosh sake find a way to keep bar noise in bar.Gracious, pleasant dining is NOT the same as eating in an after work bar stop"

  • "Second best meal I have ever had, and second only to Komi, which hopefully the chefs take as a compliment. Ridiculously good food."

  • "I recently went to Ripple with some friends for their bottomless mimosa brunch. It was a great value - a pastry, an entree, and bottomless mimosas for $28. Our server was so friendly and gave us great recommendations on what to order. The food was delicious and moderately portioned. We ended up staying from 11 until 2:30 just talking and drinking mimosas, and we never felt rushed. The drinks themselves were also very good; there are four flavors to try, and I think we had them all by the end of the day. In short, this experience was just perfect. Friendly, attentive staff, good food, and bottomless mimosas."

  • "Enjoyed every dish we had - love the deviled eggs, and if it's on the menu, I am doubling the gnocchi with pork ragu to an entree portion next time. Rich and plate licking worthy. The meat dish (pork shank?) was enormous; conversely the fish dish was minuscule in comparison and almost the same price. Delicious but not as a good value. Entrees average about $25, so with wine and 1 dessert dinner for 3 came to about $200. The bar is lively and fun; cocktails and sharing some snacks or charcuterie are a great introduction to Ripple. The house label wine is actually quite good. The chefs are talented and turning out the kind of food I look forward to enjoying again."

  • "There were a number of high points on the menu but overall this restaurant wasn't memorable. If you do go take advantage of the pastry basket (all delicious) and the Fried Chicken Thigh and biscuit. All the other dishes were good not memorable."

  • "The menu is original, unexpected, subtle and tasty. The portions are not too big not too small. The cocktails are always a great experience. The service was amazing (and we gave them a hard time, so really amazing!)."

  • "Very nice place. Food was quite good. Pork Chop was great. Appetizer/ salads were good. Sea bass was very good but a rather small portion. Butterscotch pudding was jawdropping good. I hope to return."

  • "We had such a great time at Ripple that I took out of town guests there the next night. Highlights were the waitstaff, and of course the food."

  • "I'd heard good things about Ripple but was impressed even beyond what I heard. The food was stupendous, and the wine list is first-rate. Tons of great stuff by the glass. I had the lamb saddle; terrific. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "I've been to Ripple several times, and it's a reliably good meal. The service ranges from fine to pleasant. This past time the host started the evening off on the wrong foot by saying our table was ready, then changing her mind and asking us to wait. We got that sorted out though and soon were enjoying the creative mixed drinks and even more creative main dishes. I like the emphasis on local/organic. Ambiance is sophisticated but not snobby--works for a romantic date or (in this case) an enjoyable girls' night out."

  • "This restaurant was fantastic! Friendly staff, wonderful cocktails and delicious food! I tried to recreat the sumptuous scallops in my own kitchen, but there's just no duplicating it! We will be back for sure."

  • "Excellent experience overall. Took my girlfriend here and it was a great experience. She ordered the scallops, I ordered the pork chops and were both excellent. Wine selection was great, cheese was excellent, and the fries were good. The fact that they make so many of the sauces there also adds to the experience. The Ketchup was particularly tasty the apple butter was delicious. My main complaint was that you can't buy jars of the apple butter, but that just means I'll have to go back. Great experience."

  • "My wife and I are here last year. We come to the area often to visit relatives, so we have eaten at lots of the local options. The food quality was really quite good, and the menu offering was unique and well-constructed. Easily one of the better alternatives around this area of DC."

  • "Ripple continues to be a standout dining choice. From the warm greeting at the door to the wonderful desserts,it was a gem. Lucie was again our knowledgeable, capable waitperson-we will certainly request her next time. The wine list had several interesting,fairly-priced choices. The bar is also a good spot for an after dinner drink."

  • "Very nice venue, although tables are a bit close together so you feel a bit like your dining with the people next to you. Great service, polite, efficient, helpful without being over bearing. Lovely menu choice, especially liked the pick n mix option with the cheese/pate/salami/rillet. Food cooked to perfection, Hubby had Steak & I had the Duck, both requested medium rare ..... its not often I manage to get Duck cooked correctly in an American restuarant, its normally over cooked but this was perfect. Highly recommend an will most certainly return. One down side - parking was a nightmare took us 30 mins an then we had a bit of a walk."

  • "Crispy fresh warm country bread, house made corn bread and a healthy pour of a beautiful Chardonnay started the meal off. The pear, fennel and field greens salad was perfectly dressed and the poached cod with velote sauce just melted in my mouth. The is indeed a gem."

  • "Ate dinner at Ripple with a work colleague. Our server was super friendly and boy did she know the wine list inside and out! She encouraged us both to try a couple of unique wines we'd never sampled before and her recommendations were spot on. My colleague and I both started with some cheese -- this was super delicious! We then ate a few small plates (salad, pasta, etc) and everything was cooked really well. Overall we had a lovely time and will return."

  • "Our waitress was wonderfully efficient and attentive. This was my first visit to the restaurant since my first visit two years ago, so I was really looking forward to it. The folks at the neighboring table were very enthusiastic about the duck and the cod, so that's what we went for. The cod, poached in olive oil, was amazing!! The duck was ordinary. The meat itself was juicy and tender, but it was cut too thick and there were no flavors to wow me. I didn't send it back, because it wasn't bad, but I would not order it again. I finished the cod of my co-diner and could have eaten that all night! The warm chocolate chip cookies served w/ glass of milk was wonderful! We did express the dissatisfaction about the duck to the waitress."

  • "We went to celebrate my birthday. Food was delish, service excellent, wine very good. We went at 6pm. Not too busy but by 7pm suddenly busy. Got noisy, some people don't mind but next visit will be early again. Great menu, looking forward to going again."

  • "The menu, especially the baked goods, were amazing. For the most part, the bottomless mimosas kept coming and were delicious. The restaurant was crowded so the service could have been a bit better, but I'll be going back anyway!"

  • "I read their cinnamon rolls were some of the best in the city and was a little underwhelmed. That being said, the food was delicious."

  • "Salad was garden-fresh, flavorful and just enough delicate crunch to be deeply satisfying. Dressing - deftly light! A joy for the eye and the palate! Perfectly steamed cod - with an exquisitely flavorful broth - carefully poured over it at our table - was beyond sublime! Served in a bowl with small slices of both green celery and fingerling potatoes. Flavorful and nutritionally dense! We have talked about its freshness and flavor for days! Ice cream is clearly chef-created. Intriguing flavors and much LESS sugar than commercial brands. A perfect finale!"

  • "My wife and I go to Ripple about once a year, and we look forward to the evening. This evening, however, was a bit disappointing...the menu was not as exciting as in past visits (my wife is a vegetarian, and she usually has multiple fun dishes from which to choose. This time the choices were far fewer.). The food itself was also a bit disappointing relative to past visits, when it was sublime. So, on an absolute level we were happy, but it was not nearly as exciting, different and heavenly as past visits. The service was still outstanding. The dessert (baked butterscotch) was amazing."
