  • "Perfect setting for group of 4 or less. Great atmosphere and good menu selection."

  • "After eating at other Ethan Stowell restaurants in Seattle we had high expectations for Rione XIII. While the food and service were good we were not wowed by the place. It's has a great atmosphere and the house made mozzarella cheese is great starter but everything else was just okay. Not sure if our expectations were too high or we just hit it on an off day. I would recommend getting reservations if eating here as the place filled up quickly on a Saturday evening. "

  • "We had another outstanding dinner at Rione XIII. We love the atmosphere and the food is incredible. Great wine selection as well. The staff does such a great job and we will be back again and again! Thanks for another great night out! "

  • "Tasting the crunchy carciofi took me back to Rome's Jewish quarter & Nonna Betta's restaurant. An extensive wine list offered variety in selection, origin, & price. The veal sweetbreads were delicious, cooked but not dried out.The halibut was fresh. Accompanying al dente pasta was a bit bland. Waitstaff is friendly, not intrusive. When I asked for the quietest seating, they turned down the music!!!!! Astounding courtesy to 4 seniors. We'll be back. "

  • "Always a pleasure. A bit expensive for a neighborhood restaurant."

  • "We had dinner during restaurant week in Seattle. Very good menu, service was timely and attentive. This is great place to meet friends for dinner."

  • "We were visiting from Washington, DC and just walked in on Rione XIII. We didn't have a reservation; they were friendly and seated us immediately. The food was uniformly excellent, and the ravioloi with tart cherries, carrot sauce and pea sprouts was exceptional. The wine selection was quite good, and our Washington State red blend was excellent and not pricey. My wife is dairy-intolerant and the server and chef worked together to get her through without issues. We loved it enough that the next night, we were back, this time with our daughter and her husband (Capitol Hill residents who hadn't been there before). Different foods, different wine (house red), same result. Brilliant all around. I love this place."

  • "We had a reservation at 8:45pm. We showed up at 8:30pm. We were told that the table will not be ready. Sat at the bar until the table was available. Hostess said she will check up on us and keep us updated. (She never did, maybe because it was awkward to say that the table is not there. She did stop by 30 minutes in to say sorry and point to the table that would be for us with people still there.) While waiting I noticed tables open in a few locations. I guess other reservations were more important than ours because when they show up on their scheduled time, they were seated within minutes. (Tip for making reservations: Just say you have a party of 4 or more.) Well, I never got a table."

  • "Loved everything about this place. Service was excellent and food was to die for. Will definitely return."

  • "I have been here only twice but both times found the food to be way above average in flavor and more interesting than a lot of places. Also, the service has been excellent: attentive but not intrusive. Really can't compliment this place enough. Go at Happy Hour if your budget is tight -- that way you'll be able to get some excellent food at very reasonable prices. Not that I think the regular menu is overpriced for what you get (averages about $15/entrée), but that might be high for some folks."

  • "I love this restaurant. It is pretty and reminds me of NY with good food and service. It is a bit difficult for younger men, like my 4 hungry sons who just don't feel like they quite enough food, unless they order the steaks or chops which are a bit expensive for us."

  • "Smoked mackerel bruschetta was delicious but carrot ravioli was bland and the crust on our pizza was ovecooked and tough. Service was pleasant. Prosecco and claret was delicious. Food could be better and has been in the past."

  • "The service was terrible and has been everytime I've been to Rione. I had scheduled a reservation several weeks in advanced and we still got squeezed into a super tight table. Everyone from the host to the server had an attitude. The food was ok, but not as good as any of the other Ethan Stowell restaurants. Try Tavolata or Bar Cotto instead if you want great food AND service."

  • "I have been to Rione 3 times with 3 very different friends and all have been great experiences for all the reasons listed above."

  • "The pasta is GREAT! They did a great job of capturing the true cuisine of Roma! Any mozzarella is a must order. Skip the Margherita and go for a more exciting pizza...and it will be fabulous."

  • "We received an Ethan Stowell gift card and went for it on the menu. Our server was easygoing, knowledgable, and attentive. he took the initiative to split our order into manageable courses as well as putting portions in a to-go bag as we went along. We definitely over ordered and enjoyed the leftovers the next day. Recommend the mozzarella plate, the asparagus with hen egg, the pasta with beef cheek (salty but heaven for bacon lovers) and the steak! We would eat here again."

  • "I live in the 15th neighborhood and am very apreciative of Ethan opening up 3 restaurants in my my hood. Rione XIII does not disappoint. Happy hour is great with a decent red wine for $5 and half price pizzas. The fennel/sausage was a huge hit!"

  • "Your food was very tasty ad service was great. But I don't think I can return much as I would like to try other menu offerings. We arrived at 5:45 and the noise level was tolerable . but within an hour as tables filled it really became uncomfortable and conversation between us difficult. I don't mind a loud background of conversation. But as the restaurant fills with diners and the level of conversations increase why can't you just shut off the music until everything else ramps down? Our waiter was very gracious and responsive about decreasing the music volume a notch but it didn't really help. I left with a headache and a fine dinner cut shorter than I would have liked. I'm looking for quieter places."

  • "Rione XIII is a terrific Italian restaurant which, while rather large in size, makes you feel like you are in Rome. Our server Sennen helped guide us in our meal and wine choices, and was spot on. Flavors were exceptional, great choice of wines fairly priced, and nice overall atmosphere -- although the tables are a bit too close to each other. We'll go back again!"

  • "The waiter was especially helpful in getting the right order for a friend from out of town who has allergies to sea food and nuts. He really took care of us with wine and even getting things that weren't on the menu. Thanks!"

  • "We had some out of town friends. They were accommodating to our dietary needs and the food was splendid. The risotto balls and Margarherita pizza were fantastic. My friends were impressed with the price point. June"

  • "We had an early dinner last Saturday. Friendly greeting at the door and quick seating in one of the small booths. Great soundtrack, and not too loud. Our waiter was attentive and informative and never obtrusive. We shared the fried artichokes, a margherita pizza, and then split off into the great tonarelli w/ pecorino and pepper, mixed at the table, and the nightly special of bucatini w/ a beef and prosciutto ragu. The courses arrived in a well-timed flow, each dish perfectly done and beautifully presented. We were knocked out bly all, can't praise them enough. Finished w/ Café Vita espresso and the chocolate tart, the best dessert I/we have tasted within memory. Astounding! A really satisfying dining experience from start to finish"

  • "We had trouble finding parking but eventually found a spot a few blocks away and the restaurant was kind enough to hold our table even though we were late...the service was beyond amazing. He was understanding about taking the time with each course and enjoying time in between as this was a special occasion. The food itself was by far some of the best italian I have had. The antipasto plate was shared - again amazing. We enjoyed each a different pasta plate and the sauce was out of this world. Pasta was prepared perfectly."

  • "This is my second visit in a week, the first with my two other business partners and this time with my spouse for our 43rd Wedding Anniversary. The atmosphere with goods foods is so cozy and natural, we could indulge in our dining and conversation without being interfered by the noise. The service is also very friendly and considerate."

  • "Great menu. The Amatriciana is hard to find and really great here. Love the ambiance and food. 1st time there, sat at the bar and the bartender was great. Came back with a party of four another night and our table waiter was rather unattentive and spacy. Food was still great and his wine recommendation was at least decent."

  • "Went in late on a Monday night, only a few diners but warm and cozy. Server Didn't seem too happy to see us but the smoked cod bruschetta and duck leg pizza made up for it. Reliably one of your better neighborhood Italian restaurants."

  • "Can't go wrong with an Ethan Stowell joint. Rione gets back the the simpler dishes and does not disappoint. We had the artichokes and olives to start. Very good. Ravioli on special was tasty. All in all a good experience."

  • "Really delicious cuisine with an authentic Trastevere vibe (ie it's noisy with brick walls and high ceiling). It is so much more than pizza and pasta - our gluten free friends were pleased. Nice wine list. I do wish the overhead lights were not so bright. It felt like we were sitting in a spotlight. Mellower lighting would improve the ambience tremendously. It was noisy but not so loud that we couldn't hear the music."

  • "This was my second time at Rione and it did not disappoint. We started off with the Burrata mozzarella, which is incredible, followed by the salami pizza, mezze pasta and tiramisu and pistachio gelato. It was all so good. Great service and atmosphere too. We will definitely be back!"

  • "We are fans of Ethan Stowelll's 'New Italian' food, and Rione XIII meets our expectations. The Mezze pasta and Fried Artichoke were exceptional, Truffle egg pizza superb, nice wine list. Bucatini with tomatoes, Guanciali was tasty. The old Capitol Hill space is beautifully done, with exposed old growth massive wood posts and beams, brick. Waitress was knowledgeable about the wines, made good recommendations (but forgot to tell us that Bronzino was available as a special :( Delicious ribeye steak, sliced, but a little overcooked for medium. Great gelato (Pistachio espresso affogato). Definitely one of our 'go to' restaurants. Very satisfying."

  • "Happy hour afforded the opportunity to try most items on the menu. My party of five found the portions adequate and the tastes fantastic. Reasonably priced wines - broad selection. Austere setting, but comfy. Worth an evening."

  • "Having lived in Rome off and on for 2 years or so, I was excited to see that someone, anyone was trying to produce food from the famed Trastevere neighborhood. This endeavor however produced mixed results. Yes, it's located in a hip urban neighborhood, yes it is full of the slightly pretentious uber-new-hipster-yuppy crowd, and perhaps the noise levels are a bit high and the seating is a bit cramped. But the pasta oh the pasta! It's a little dark and a little loud, and the server had a tendency to mis-pronounce a lot of Italian terms, but the food more than made up for these slight oversights. Reasonably priced, we had 2 apps, 2 pasta entrees,a bottle of wine for just over $100, also got a complimentary bag of fresh pasta to take home."
