  • "Outstanding Nuevo Latino cuisine. We have been there many times and tried pretty much everything in the menu. I am upset they took out the codfish (bacalao) from the menu, but everything else is also delicious. The ceviche sampler is awsome. Great chorizo and jamon Iberico. The pork dish is outstanding. Had a fish with mango sauce and coconut rice which was delicious. Tres leches for desert: great. A great, different restaurant in an outstanding food city. Only complaint is that it is a little bit too noisy. Will gladly put up with that."

  • "The price of the cocktails, wine and food are outrageous considering that the atmosphere was super casual, the servers were not knowledgeable, and the food was not properly seasoned. The sangria lacked the fruit marinade flavors typical of the recipe. The server was unfamiliar with the menu and the wine list, so I was forced to go up the bar to inquire about details. Finally a fellow guest helped answer my questions. We settled on a $52 bottle of Jumilla that I have personally purchased in the store for $10. In a city that swims in seafood dishes at every corner, the food was disappointing. My guest and I spent over $200, an offensive price for an average meal, poor, neglectful service and mediocre ambiance."

  • "The food and ambiance were nice and the waiter was friendly. However, the restaurant does not accomodate it's customers, and for prices such as those they should. I have a food allergy and in order to eat the dish I wanted, I needed to get something swapped out...they REFUSED. I was not asking for anything specific, so they could have given me something inexpensive such as pickled slaw or rice. I was told I could pay $7 for a different side, on top of the $30 dish, but they would not just accomodate the allergy themselves. I didn't get the dish, I was not going to pay $40 for it with the added cost of the side, and completely turned off. Booo, RioMar."

  • "Been here several time and told many this was our favorite restaurant. This past trip took a step back. Elegant, unique restaurant to now paper menus, loud kitchen, downsized popular menu options. Miss the chorizo in the mussels, but still good. Wine prices seemed a bit steep past round.Overall still love restaurant. Drum, lechon, rocoto ceviche are favorites."

  • "I've enjoyed Rio Mar in the past and I had high expectations. Things started well but the level of service quickly declined. Water and bread weren't refilled, wine took forever, etc. and we felt ignored overall. Appetizers were very good, but scallops were substituted for fish in an entree with no warning and didn't even pair well with the sauce. I expect the opportunity to change my selection when something runs out. There was a long delay receiving our check, and then we had to flag down someone to take it since our waitress disappeared again. We had a Groupon and wonder if this is why we experienced such a poor level of service. The waitress added gratuity on to our bill which wasn't part of the Groupon terms. I'm not sure we'll return."

  • "i ordered the drum and asked that it not be over cooked. it arrived too dry and was sent back, the waitress said the cook said this was the way it was cooked and to choose another dish. in my opinion "before" fish can be over cooked it has to be under cooked and that is all i was asking. in addition i thought the portion was really small for the amount of money we paid. not only will i not recommend rio mar to anyone we will NEVER come there again for any reason. we were out to celebrate my birthday."

  • "My husband and I quit going to this restaurant because of the noise. We couldn't even hear each other and we were sitting right next to each other. We always did like the food, so we decided to go back when we were eating early and we were hoping the restaurant would be much quieter. It was, however, we were appalled that we were not allowed to order an appetizer while we figured out what we wanted to eat for the rest of the meal. Apparently, it is against the Chef's rules. The waiter apologized profusely, but was clear that the rule could not be broken. We will never return to this restaurant, these kinds of rules are ridiculous."

There we're just a few occupied tables at lunch and I had to wave wave wave, walk to the server multiple times to ask for bowls, more dishes, drinks, hot sauce (asked 4x) We sat there forever before anyone asked what we wanted...etc, etc, etc. too bad because the food is really good...once you get it....THEN.....because the party we had had 6+... The tip was included! Lame"

  • "We adults (4) wanted to try the argentine food, but the preteen kids weren't thrilled with unfamiliar choices. Our waiter saves the evening by suggesting a sampling of small plates. All of us had a great time trying different dishes. Even the picky kids found several things the liked! We especially liked the steak and the cevechi sampler! And the flan was to die for! We definitely will come again!"

  • "The Bartender was fantastically friendly and gave good recommendations. Then it was time to go into the dining area. Live music bongo drums were too loud. The servers were impatient. The food was not sequenced with some coming out cold. What came out correctly is good. They need to explain their menu better. There's great potential for the small family run restaurant with better organization. The music needs to reflect the ethnicity of the restaurant food."

  • "Lovely restaurant with an easy feel to it. Not too busy on an early Thursday. They make their own sangria and my mango sangria was perfect. Husband had the pork which was a huge serving and melt in your mouth. My scallops were cooked perfectly. Wait staff were great as well."

  • "We had the Chef's Tasting Menu, which was really incredible. We got to try all of the appetizers and the ceviches, ordered and entree and had tastes of all of the desserts. It was all incredible. I really love that it is not the quintessential Southern restaurant. In an area of hotels, with visitors from other places, it is perfectly placed to give you the opportunity to enjoy really well prepared food from a different place. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves."

  • "I have eaten at Rio Mar several times and it has an interesting menu. However, on this particurlar trip, we were very disapponted with the way we were met upon arrival. We were about 10 minues early and the resturant was less than 50% full. We asked if we could be seated and were told no. When we challenged the hostess as to why not, it got confrontational. The last thing Rio Mar should want is a bad experience immediately upon enering the restaurant. Ruined the rest of the evening."

  • "Haven't been to this restaurant in quite a while. In the past it was difficult to find parking in the area, but no they have valet parking, albeit at $10, but that's acceptable. The food is quite different but quite good. My group enjoyed the Iberian Ham, Empanadas, Papusas as well as soup & salads. Waitress was very knowledgeable and very efficient. Look forward to a return visit."
