Specials were indeed special--new
fresh tastes combining elements not experienced elsewhere. Didn't order dessert but after conversation with hostess she gave us a sample of one particular dessert. It was amazing. Only one of the four of us were going to try it but we all ended up eating a share of it"

food and service were exceptional.
very fresh and flavorful food, very innovative choices."
Dined on 4/4/2014
Outstanding meal. Could have eaten
the ceviches all night"
Dined on 3/24/2014
The ceviche sampler was very good.
The food was not worth the price. We were charged $18.00 for water."
Dined on 3/17/2014
The restaurant was busy and
slightly loud. Service was good. Food was excellent."
Dined on 3/14/2014
Good food, but understaffed and
overwhelmed by traffic. Poor service and long waits in between servings"
Dined on 3/13/2014
The wait staff was so INCREDIBLE
rude that not only will I never return but I will tell all our friends to never go here. I'm in utter shock with how rude they were. Probably the worst in the entire city of New Orleans."

Great place, great food, and great
service. We had a very nice experience. Would definitely recommend!"

I have eaten at Rio Mar several
times and it has an interesting menu. However, on this particurlar trip, we were very disapponted with the way we were met upon arrival. We were about 10 minues early and the resturant was less than 50% full. We asked if we could be seated and were told no. When we challenged the hostess as to why not, it got confrontational. The last thing Rio Mar should want is a bad experience immediately upon enering the restaurant. Ruined the rest of the evening."

Haven't been to this restaurant in
quite a while. In the past it was difficult to find parking in the area, but no they have valet parking, albeit at $10, but that's acceptable. The food is quite different but quite good. My group enjoyed the Iberian Ham, Empanadas, Papusas as well as soup & salads. Waitress was very knowledgeable and very efficient. Look forward to a return visit."
Dined on 2/8/2014
The hostess refused to seat us
until the 9th member of our party arrived, even with a reservation. This was not the case for another big party. When I said that he was just parking the car she said they had valet. A few minutes later the valet podium and sign were schlepped out the door to be set up. Around 6:45. Hmm.. What a shame to start off with such a foul taste in our mouths. Every one was given a drink menu. No food menu until well after the drink orders were taken. We felt like we were being manipulated into ordering drinks. The food was good to fair, table service fine. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu. Too noisy. Didn't bother with dessert. Needless to say we're not going back. There are too many much better places to eat."

Great seafood choices. Nice to
have a restaurant in New Orleans that isn't "creole/traditional Louisiana cuisine" & taste great!"
Dined on 2/1/2014
Atmosphere and food good, but
prices high for this restaurant. Our waitress was great too!"
Dined on 2/1/2014
Had a great meal, friends from out
of town enjoyed the varies menu."
Dined on 1/31/2014
Fish was great. Steak was
mediocre. Dessert was great. VERY loud. Wait staff and kitchen seemed overwhelmed."
Dined on 1/25/2014
We have been to Rio Mar several
times and absolutely love the place. The seafood is exquisite. The only complain I have is that they do not do substitutions."
Dined on 1/25/2014
excellent seafood and very
creative presentation and combination of flavors."
Dined on 1/14/2014
Very quiet ambiance during a late
lunch but exceptional food."
Dined on 1/2/2014
Overall the service was
outstanding and attentive, the drinks fabulous and creative, and the ambiance pleasant. We ordered several specials and tapas for the table, and a variety of large and small plates for entrees. My best advice would be to come prepared to order an app, small plate, large plate, and salad or desert to feel satisfied."

This once great restaurant is now
a convention stop, nothing more. On Friday night, we were the only people in the place. When I asked where everyone was, the waiter replied, "there are no conventions in town". In a city filled with great restaurants, this place is plain terrible. Three people, 200.00 with tip and everything was bad from start to finish. As a local, I am begging you, STAY AWAY. Adolfo Garcia sd his interest, and the food went with him. Not one good thing to say about this place at all. I am shocked at the other reviews here."

We enjoyed our meal at Rio Mar
very much. All the dishes were well prepared and flavorful. The servers were warm and knowledgable. We cannot wait to go back!"
Dined on 12/18/2013
Sat at bar and enjoyed several $5
tapas. Wine by the glass was 1/2 price! Service was very friendly, but not intrusive. I will recommend and I will be back myself."
Dined on 12/19/2013
Interesting fusion of Latin
cuisines. Very fresh seafood. Stone's throw from Convention Center. Don't miss if you want upscale dining experience, with convenience of getting back for the next session at your conference."
Dined on 12/16/2013
Excellent food for conoseurs and
people who like to be adventurous. Great food which expands your taste palate. Best ceviche I ever tried. Restaurants comforts could be improved."
Dined on 12/14/2013
We were a party of 14 , got there
at 8:30 got the first apetizer one by one at 9:30 and entrees at 10:30. Service was rude , pushy (advising some dish were not good) and et saying the food was coming every 10 minutes or so ! Food was poor except a few apetizer items. No gesture was made on the bill despite sipping dessert for time .We got insulted on our way out for complaining. Outresageous behavior. Dont go there you will deeply regret it."
Dined on 12/7/2013
My husband and I dine in the
warehouse frequently. We tried Rio Mar on 12/4. The ceviche had no flavor other than harsh citrus. The shrimp in it was previously boiled and was rubbery. The drink were good and the service was excellent, but this did not make up for the poor quality of the food. We won't be back."
Dined on 12/4/2013
Two blocks from the convention
center, Rio Mar offers a pleasant surprise. The facility is in the warehouse district and rather run down. But we went for lunch and ordered the chef's selection of tapas, which included four different items, each delicious, finishing with a fried oyster salad that was awesome. The staff were all delightful and service was fast despite the fact that the chef was working alone that day, Speaking of the chef, he was a blur of activity in the open view kitchen. After the meal we went back to congratulate him on his art. Highly recommend."

Excellent fish choices with a
twist ot two, with a strong Spanish/Hispanic influence, which make the experience even more unique and interesting. We loved everything we had -- ceviche platter, grilled Portuguese octopus, curried mussels, the Cau Cau (scallops and pork belly), and the tres leches de coco for dessert -- but could have had just about anything else (we wish we could have, actually!) and feel that we could have not been disappointed. The service was especially attentive, and that added also to the enjoyability of the experience (it always does). The ambiance is genuinely rustic, yet there is nothing ordinary or low key about the food! Will definitely have to go back at the next trip in town!!"
Dined on 11/17/2013
We were not impressed. Waitress
was extremely rude. She argued about what we could order, lots not available on menu, brought bill instead of dessert menu as we had requested. Restuarant was not particularly busy, so no excuse."
Dined on 11/17/2013
Food was really well prepared with
variety We order several small plates and shared. Service good. I will come back . Priced reasonable And felt we got exactly what we wanted"
Dined on 11/17/2013
Maybe it was that they just didn't
know a 20,000 person convention was in town for a week. But the service at Rio Mar on Friday, Nov. 15, was awful. The room filled up quickly yet there were only 2 servers. And they were also acting has the host and hostess as people came in to be seated. And it look like there was only one chef. The wait for the menu, the wait for drinks, the wait fir the food and the wait for the check was interminable. The food, however, was quite good. So much so that we wanted to return the next day for lunch. But alas, Rio Mar was closed for lunch on Saturday - during a convention - with people wandering the streets looking for good place to eat. Odd."

Have been living in Warehouse
neighborhood for years, and Rio Mar is my favorite in this area... Great food, friendly atmosphere.."
Dined on 11/9/2013
Delicious seafood and other dishes
that we could pass and share for a fun and delicious dining experience. Get the oysters."
Dined on 11/7/2013
The food was absolutely amazing -
but what was particularly refreshing was to find such interesting and wonderful food that was thoughtfully prepared and presented as well as such great taste. The ambiance was refreshing and friendly, and the service was delightful."
Dined on 11/5/2013
Rio Mar is not very visible in the
Warehouse District of New Orleans, but is well worth the search. I ate there twice and both were a pleasure. The second time was with a group of 12. They handled us very well with their tasting menu - good choices of appetizers and entrees, but takes a little of the menu issue out of the social event. The staff is lively and friendly, food is great and the wine selections were interesting with many Spanish wines to match the cuisine."
Dined on 10/28/2013
We had the chef's tasting menu and
it was great. Server was personable and attentive."
Dined on 10/23/2013
The only set back was that when
wine was served they did not do it the right way, and when asked for Conac it was served in small wine glass, it should be served in a Conac glass. But over all, food great, service great. I went at dinner time? Thank you!"

I have been going to Rio Mar for
years. I have missed being in New Orleans for the past 2 years and was excited to get back. I was nervous about taking my sister there for her birthday after having been gone for a while, but it was just as good as it ever was. It is predictably delicious, and the service is great. I would recommend this place to any seafood lover. My favorite things are the ceviches and the small plates that are fun to share, unique, and superb. The cocktails are also quite good, but lots of NOLA places have great drinks... they just don't all have GREAT food and service."
Dined on 10/12/2013
Really couldn't find any other
restaurant w Spanish/Latin menu- we were craving Cuban and ruled out Liborios because it was totally empty and closed an hour early. I was happy with the pastor pork plate- this was excellent. Great empanadas. The other two items we ordered just seemed to lack finesse. This may be one of the places where hit and miss are evenly frequent but the hits are real hits. Guava cheesecake, which sounds as if could go terribly wrong, was standalone, worth a visit here- I am a better person for having eaten it!"
