I was very disappointed with my
visit to the Rio this time. It was so loud in the place that you could barely have a conversation with the person sitting next to you. Our waiter acted like he was out for a Sunday stroll, there was no hustle in his step at all. At one point he left my drink sitting on a tray so that he could go attend to another table. Then when the food came out he forgot to ring in one of my friends orders, so she had to wait for her food while the rest of us started to eat ours. The water jugs at the table were never refilled for our entire visit nor did the waiter ask if we would like to have them refilled. I will say that the food was very delicious and enjoyable however, that was the only enjoyable part of my visit."

If you are a "newbie" to the area
finding this location can be tricky. We were seated right away (4 children & myself), unfortunately we were seated next to a table of young drinking adults (and more people showed up as we were eating and crammed us in at the table). The staff should be able to use better judgement in family seating vs tables of drinking. The waiter took 15 minutes to approach and mentioned he was filling in for our assigned waiter. The chile con queso was bland and the salsa was watery. The food was just ok. The kids ordered nachos and there was more lettuce on the plate than any meat, chip, cheese, or beans! I ordered the enchiladas verde - which barely had any verde and was dry. We won't be revisiting this restaurant."

the crab and shrimp enchiladas are
the best - fresh and tasty"

Good food, good service, fairly
standard Mexican menu, reasonably priced"

I was able to make a reservation
and was seated on time. The hostess was great, the food was great and my service was good. I would definitely recommend the Rio Grande Restaurant to friends."

loved the shrimp and crab
enchiladas -- taste great every time!!"

First we sat at a table in the bar
and no one waited on us. So we decided to go to our table. We must have been invisible because a lot of waiters came by our table but no one acknowledge us. So after about 15 minutes we got up and left. We told the manager what happened and all she did was make excuses for the servers. Never going back."

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner
and Rio margs as always!"

If you don't know by now, Rio
Grande has great margaritas. That is really the reason to go here. There are a few really good items on the menu, but most of the food is mediocre, especially compared to other Mexican restaurants in Denver. I find their appetizers to be better than their main dishes. Overall, a great place to go if you want to hang with friends, snack, and drink some great margaritas. But if you want a really good Mexican dinner, you can do better."

We have been to Rio Grande many
times and always have excellent food and delicious margaritas! Will be back again soon too!"
Dined on 1/17/2014
Great place too eat and the
margaritas are the bomb!!!!"
Dined on 1/10/2014
Best chile relleno I've had in a
long time. We visited Rio Grande before going to a movie right next door, just because it was convenient. The food turned out to be exceptional. Good fajitas, and they offer discounts to movie tickets if you purchase through them. I will return for sure."

Great margarita's and queso.
Entree's were average in taste and over priced"

Open Table should discontinue its
association with this restaurant. Our reservation, made 7 hours before the seating, was not honored. Our table was not ready for 20 minutes after our reserved time. When seated, our table still had rice and other gunk still on it. Food was passable for Mexican, but clearly not the caliber of Open Table restaurants. The green chili covering my burrito was a poor excuse, lacking flavor and appeared more like a starchy, flour based goop with a tinge of green coloring added. Service improved after a complaint to the manager, and a 50% discount for our troubles -- neither will bring us back to this place. Lone Tree deserves better."

Try the fajitas! We've had
chicken, steak, and shrimp and have not been disappointed!"

They have great Margaritas, but
the food is terrible"

The GM Susan greeted us at the
door, reviewed our group needs, introduced us to our server. VERY professional and showed a caring attitude. We felt very welcome at the Rio. Will certainly place the Rio Grand on our go to place for any meal."
Dined on 11/24/2013
The food and wait service were
great, but the women at the front acted as though we didn't have a reservation. We waited for over 20 minutes before getting seated. It was very busy but the wait made me think that they did not know about the reservation."
Dined on 11/16/2013
I love this place so much, except
for one thing. I used open table to make a reservation. When we walked in, we were told they had to clear 6 tables. After waiting almost 20 minutes, my husband walked over and asked how long the wait was if we had reservations. They immediately sat us which makes me think they had forgotten about us. Otherwise food and service was great!!"
Dined on 11/8/2013
Our family had left the movie
theater and used open table to find somewhere nearby with tables available for us to get into for dinner. We walked in before making a reservation and were told they had zero tables until 30min later. I tried to speak with my husband to make the reservation and with stress after being hungry and 2 kids arguing, the hostess staff laughed at us so we left. I made a reservation and went right back in 15 min and suddenly they were ready to seat us while at least 6 other families were waiting or told they would have to wait 90 min for a table. The manager was apologetic but the staff acted defensive. I believe this restaurant was rude and had poor service to actually serve the people who were choosing to go there."
Dined on 10/14/2013
Food unfortunately not very good.
Margarita's are tasty but very strong, make sure you have a designated driver."
Dined on 10/5/2013
This was a dismal Friday night out
dining experience. Have eaten at the Ft. Collins location and thought it was pretty good. Lonetree, not so much. Waitperson was very good....prompt, friendly and very apologetic for everything that come, or didn't come out of the kitchen. We will NOT be returning."

A big thanks to Rio Grande - Lone
Tree, CO!! The weather changed our plans very last minute for our triplets 13th birthday party - I called to request a change to the reservation time for 12 and they were so nice about it and took care of it no problem. They told me they are used to large parties and it was an easy change for them. Thanks again!!"
Dined on 8/31/2013
We've been going to the Rio for
years. The food is healthier and the margaritas are terrific. The waiters are great to deal with, too. Naturally you have favorites, so when making reservations we try to get the ones we know."
Dined on 9/1/2013
There is no Mexica food served
here. Do not believe the selection titles. The only claim to fame is serving Margaritas so strong that only 3 are allowed per person. We also noticed that the staff appears to be cleansed of any potential for employing anyone who might have a hispanic heritage."
Dined on 8/16/2013
Food was very good, get a lot,
might consider sharing, check with server. Large open restaurant area so noise level is high. There is outdoor dining and although we ate inside the restaurant is in a shopping center so there might not be a lot of cars passing by."
Dined on 8/18/2013
a nice mexican restaurant - great
for groups and afterwork gatherings. Service was attentive and the appetizers were delicious and plentiful."
Dined on 8/6/2013
I visited Rio twice last week.
Monday for a good bye party and Friday for a dinner with friends. The service is always great! The food is good (I actually ate two different entrees!) and the margaritas are excellent! Will be going back soon!!"

I have been to the Rio Downtown
and this location. They have changed the size of their drinks, the ingredients of their food, it just isn't the Rio anymore, it is just another Mexican food chain."
Dined on 7/27/2013
The Rio was fabulous! It was our
first time dining there and our server, Michael, did an incredible job of making us feel welcome and appreciated. He was engaging and energetic, even on a rainy Saturday night. We sat on the patio, which was covered and had a great dining experience. Of course, the Margaritas were exceptional as was the food, hot, fresh and full of flavor! Absolutely would recommend!"
Dined on 7/14/2013
it should not be hard to handle a
reservation, this place tried to show that it is hard. If the food was worth the hassle I'd come back, but its not, so we are done."
Dined on 7/6/2013
everything was as presented. No
issues and would return in a minute."
Dined on 6/28/2013
and good margaritas! What we liked
best about Rio Grande was the freshness of the food- including the margaritas. Nothing tasted processed or pre-made. Fresh ingredients, well prepared with a good presentation. Not much else you can ask for."
Dined on 6/29/2013
I love the Rio, good food, great
margaritas, and the downtown location has such an excellent vibe. It's always fun there. The Lone Tree location is very similar--margs were still excellent, food still good, service still decent (not great)--but, it's totally lacking in any sort of atmosphere or ambiance. The walls are bare (no art), it's in a strip mall, and just seems more like your average Applebee's then a local legend. I will go back since I like the Rio, but will try to go downtown. I only went to this location since they don't allow reservations at the downtown location."
Dined on 6/23/2013
Our waitress was exceptional. We
had a large party of over 20 people who were moving around the table quite a bit. She delivered the correct food and drinks to the right people everytime! We all had seperate checks as well and they were all correct with no errors. Very impressed!"
Dined on 5/31/2013
The steak burrito, smothered green
has amazing flavor that bites you back. And washing it down with a margarita is the only way to go."
Dined on 6/12/2013
It not all about the margarita's
but they certainly make every visit worthwhile. Food is good, service is good, almost always a table to be had (except on the patio...). Never a complaint from me, we go back quite regularly."
Dined on 4/28/2013
This was our first, and probably
last time eating at the Rio Grande. We love Mexican food and heard many good things about this restaurant. We had a reservation, and still had to wait for a table (20 minutes). The service and chips and salsa were good, and our entrees were warm and fresh. The big problem was the over-the-top noise level. I had a headache when we left."
Dined on 6/8/2013
Been to Rio Grande a handful of
times and the good thing is they are pretty consistent. Growing up in Texas, I can honestly say this food isn't exactly "Tex-Mex". Although the food isn't god awful, it definitely lacks characteristics to make it good Tex-Mex or even good Mexican Food. Could be due to the neighborhood that the owners have modified the flavors from what it was intended to be. Fair at best and a bit overpriced for the quality of the product. Rio Grande is known for their margaritas. I would say their drinks are tasty and priced accordingly. Other bonuses include free chips and salsa, friendly service, and kids eat free on Sunday. I would probably have future visits to have drinks and appetizers rather than a full meal."
Dined on 6/4/2013
food was excellent, service was
poor however the manager made sure she was around to make up for the clearly inexperienced waiter"
