  • "This is my favorite place. Number one in food, service, atmosphere. What else can one expect? I went on Friday night. Live show with beautiful girls, service amazing, incredible meat selection and a salad bar with tons of salads, hot dishes like prawns and mussels, lots of different types of pasta made in front of you. Amazing. I used to go for another steak house and pay more than 40 bucks for a single steak, at Rio much less than that I had steaks, sirloins, filet mignon, chicken, lamb, sausages and on and on and on. THIS IS A REAL DEAL. I'll be back ASAP"

  • "It would be better if there is a set stage for the dancers. People are gathering near the buffet line which blocks the view of the people sitting away from the make shift dance area. Also, dancers have 2-3 steps repeated the entire performance. Food is ok. Nothing special. Parking is horrible. Service needs improvement."

  • "Sit down dinner where they come around and serve meat from a spit. Meat comes as beef, pork, and chicken to your table and you take it by the slice. Salad bar as well for vegetarians and for other delicious meats. I would recommend trying it once if you're a big meat lover."

  • "Our first (and last) visit to this restaurant. Very few meats being circulated (5 during our visit) and those were very ordinary. Salad bar was fine but a pasta bar? In a Brazilian restaurant?"

  • "After having my mind blown by my first Rodizio style restaurant experience in Calgary a couple of weeks ago, I must admit I wasn't confident any other restaurant could match the same experience. The ambience was good here, but they missed the mark on most of the food. The decide reminded me of a Bonanza restaurant, for those who can remember, sans the desert station. This restaurant could make itself great so easily. Try checking out Bolero in Calgary, and do what they do. It's $10 more a person, but it's a sexy and delicious dining experience, which I think we would like here in Vancouver. Heck, you got a great location with lots of parking downstairs!!!!"

  • "Went to R B Steakhouse when it originally opened in 2012. Hated the live show. Left because of it. Food was great, esp salad bar and selection of meats. On the second visit, stage show was much better (a bit quieter), but the salad bar wasn't as exciting and the choices of meats were fewer. Suggestions for the future: Drop the pasta station; at a steakhouse? REALLY????!!! Bring back the better options at the salad bar Give us a slightly better selection of meats and all will be OLAY!"

  • "The food was good. There was a large variety at the salad bar. Service was great and prompt. The place was fairly empty when we were there early evening, no entertainment and fairly quiet in there"

  • "We had been to a Brazilian steakhouse once before so we knew how the serving would work, and we had a Brazilian guest with us so we were eager to hear her assessment. We had a great time! The service was perfect, the food was fresh and the servers circulated continuously with steak, lamb, pork, etc. etc. The salad bar was good, as well as the rice and beans. They even had an ample supply of Guarana, our favourite Brazilian soda! Our Brazilian guest said it was very authentic. Couldn't ask for anything more."

  • "One of the best experience I had for dinner in Vancouver. Unbelievable customer service - they have two kinds of service: regular servers (not regular , amazing servers - very professionals, attentive, polite and fast.) and the meat cutters (this is a show - around 12 different cuts of meat, including PRIME RIB, pork rib w /bbq sauce, beef short ribs, the PICANA - I guess - is incredible ,amazing marinated lamb , and so on). I have to mention the Salad bar and the hot dishes too, dozens of salads and still prawns, salmon, mussels, etc... To finish my report I'd like to write about the show - the girls, and the samba dancers - they gave to our dinner more fun and entertainment. If I will come back? YES, YES, YES."

  • "Service 10. Food 10. Atmosphere 10. What else can I say. From the beginning to the end superb. Friendly servers, including the meat runners, exquisite food, including salad bar, a excellent variety and choices and one big plus - the pasta corner. Unbelievable . We were party of 15, the restaurant was full and nothing to complaint . 10, 10,10."

  • "What a great place. It was very busy at the time I went. Many were in large groups which might've created the atmosphere rather energetic. The salad bar I thought was great, however there were few items that were rather overly salted. As for the meat going around. It was great however, again overly salted. Based on how busy it was on a Friday noon, they shouldve had more staff on guard, our waitress basically was very stressed out and she didn't even fill up our water. Aside from being stressed out she seems very assertive and not in a good way. however she was very apologetic most of the time. I would recommend it based on the atmosphere an concept, but I feel just once is enough."

  • "The servers have severely bad attitude which will ruin your night and experience; however. the food is decently good and deserves a 3.5 star. It's good if you want to try something different. All you can eat meat, and belly dancers! It is a bit pricey: $30+15% automatic gratuity for groups when service is lacking and when you do get some, you get major attitude from the servers."

  • "My wife took me to Rio for my birthday. The food was fantastic. I can't even begin list all of the things we tried that night. The staff were all respectful and friendly. Our server provided quite possibly the best service we've ever had. My wife still can't stop talking about how great she was. The restaurant and staff are all very clean. Our server was constantly changing out our plates for clean new plates. It was a truly great dinning experience. We were already planning our return visit on our way out to the car."

  • "Can't get enough of the barbecues! The meats were cooked medium-well, just how I liked it. The skirt steak was on the well-done side, but hey, one miss out of 10? And the Brazillian mixed drinks?... to die for! I wish I'm not on a diet so I could have ordered more. We will definitely come back and next time will bring along our friends with us. So happy we discovered this place !"

  • "Great service. They were very accomodating to the 2 year old and 11 year old in our group. Disappointing food quality. For example, they served uncleaned prawns and immitation crab at the buffet. Not the best location for large groups as they only have long tables making it difficult to talk and see everyone in the group. Interesting experience overall.."

  • "I had experienced Brazilian food while living in France. I had heard about Samba's restaurant and looked it up on line, only to find it closed. When I saw Rio's listed I read the reviews and though I found a couple of them to be so-so, I took a friend for a Tuesday lunch. (he was a chef in Switzerland and Germany for more than 20 years) We both thoroughly enjoyed it and returned three weeks later to experience the larger evening menu. I've been to Rio's three times now in six weeks and look forward to the next outing. For a more romantic evening or a group party, this is a unique and fun place."

  • "Overall everything was good. It would be better if we could try more variety of meats like chicken hearts and gizzards. We did not recognize any of options as a the delicious traditional picanha. We have been in other churrascarias in other countries and the experience and ambience is amazing. The waiters should explain from the beginning which one is the number for that cut. Usually you held up 6 fingers to inform my waiter he needed to book it with your picanha. You continued to eat picanha for few hours –the maximum amount of time one can eat at this churrascaria. Also to enjoy more pics in a slideshow , or powerpoint, or videos with and music from Brazil will be great."

  • "They called to confirm our reservation but when we arrived the reservation was lost. We had to wait half an hour for a table and then they found our reservation. Our waitress was clearly overwhelmed. She got our drink orders wrong and tried to charge us for a drink we did not order because I took a sip. Of course I took a sip! I have to sip it to know what it is. In the end, she did charge me. The waitresses job is to only take our drink orders and she couldn't do it. I was amazed at the lack of service our waitress gave us. She was never around. She even at one point made an annoyed grunt when she messed up. When it came to the bill, she was slow and confused. The tip was included in the bill which I did not appreciate."

  • "I'm not someone that eats pork and because of that, was limited in the variety. Many Brazilian steakhouses offer different varieties of meats (buffalo, crocodile, etc...) not RIO. That being said, almost everything I had was great! We were in a group of about 10 and everyone pretty much loved the venue."

  • "Service w as excellent, food was excellent, servers excellent only thing we found missing was the ambience your restaurant had at the old location on Alberni. Toni our waitress was an absolute delight, kind, thoughtful, great sense of humour as she attended to the needs of our large group of teenagers. Thank you Toni for making my life a little easier that night!"

  • "Rio is always a fun place for groups on the weekends with the music and performers, however during the week it is a bit of a ghost town. Service was pleasant, rodizio service was a little more sparse than on a busy night, but overall the selection was good. I would say that I think the weekday price should be discounted further, they might get a little busier if there was a bit more incenctive to come in during the week and it's unlikely you would have people staying for extended periods of time eating all night which I could see happening on weekends. It was my brother's first time and as a meatatarian he suggested that this might be what heaven looks like, an endless assortment of meat being offered to you until you're stuffed."

  • "Went to Rio the first time shortly after it opened. It was not too busy but still quite fun with the performers and music. This Saturday night the place was hopping but service was still adequate. The meat was plentiful and delicious and the salad bar has expanded and now there is a fresh to order pasta bar. Overall a fun spot to hit up with a hungry group as they are happy to accomodate large groups and you can eat all you like!"

  • "I live in the West End, where donairs, sushi, burgers, and pizza are common finds. Rio is the perfect spot for an escape from ordinary food. There are reviews of overcooked meat, and horrible service, but our visit on a Thursday was the exact opposite. Around $80 for two got us all the salad and meat we could handle, with a few drinks to boot. Our server was incredibly adorable and kind. Meat was cooked to perfection; crispy outside, pink inside, perfect temperature, and there was about 6-8 different types of meat from bacon wrapped chicken, sirloin, chicken hearts, and even cinnamon grilled pineapple. Ambience could use a bit of work, but the place was empty on a weeknight. Highly recommended."

  • "In our recent night out, we had a diverse group: a vegetarian, meat lovers, Muslims, big eaters, picky eaters ... all were accommodated with ease (and no menu :) ) ... the BBQ meat was good as anticipated; however, the surprise of the night was the quality of seafood on the buffet ... there was a good variety, well prepared and most enjoyable ....an definite advantage to the buffet style along with table side service was that there was none of the service hassles of ordering and serving associated with large groups .... we would definitely go there again for a unique experience ..."

  • "We booked a reservation for 10:00 PM on a Friday. At 9:00 I got a call, asking us to come ASAP, since they stop serving food at 10:30. OpenTable needs to more accurately represent them, as I could have booked a table for 10:30 online! We got there at 9:40, and the female dancers were done, and we got about 10 minutes of the male dancer. Good fun! The food was great, lots of variety, my friends enjoyed the pasta bar. Our server was AMAZING! Very friendly, and poured a wicked caipirinha!"

  • "Let's start with the positives. The place looks nice and the servers are very friendly. However I could not recommend this restaurant until they fix the main issue: frequency and variety of meat. This is a place where you go to sample different cuts of meat and it's very important servers come by your table frequently and with different types of meat. We had to wait a while between servings and when the restaurant got busier we were almost forgotten in the middle of the other tables. I'm originally from Porto Alegre, home of this type of restaurant and I was very disappointed with what I saw. My friends went to Brazil with me a while back and agree with me based on what they experienced there. I hope it improves as it's the only one in town"
