RingSide Steakhouse – UptownA wonderful steakhouse!Dark and cozy with great food quality. The lobster mashed potatoes and oysters are food to dream about.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWent with a group. All butWent with a group. All but one had steak. Everyone's steak was done exactly as we wanted.
The staff is Great. They know what they are doing and make you feel wanted.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMCLASSIC STEAK HOUSE EXPERIENCETop of the heap for food quality and service. Huge portions. Not the most hip atmosphere, but quiet, comfortable and with the feeling of being fully taken care of.
This place is especially a fantastic value during Portland Dining Month. We had two 3-course meals (steak medallions, amazing, tender, flavorful sauce) and added the ultra famous, for a reason, onion rings and onion soup, and even with a glass of wine, ithe bill came to about $80.00. Super value.
The waiters are show stoppers. I swear that some of these guys are actors, the way they set the glass down or twirl the fork before it lands just where you need it. You should dine, just for the service alone (okay, well, for the service and the food).6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Old Time FavoriteWith the proliferation of great restaurants in the PDX area, we tend to forget those restaurants that have dedicated themselves to the food and beverage industry for many years. They were flexible in preparing certain items that we not even on the menu. Kudo's to the Executive Chef.
You can always find the best prime rib in the Pacific Northwest at Ringside. IThe meat is tasty and tender and is accompanied with fresh (and I mean freshly grated) horse radish. A special touch.
The servers are the key to the coordination of food and beverages. We were served by Wayne who has been a server at Ringside for 20 years.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Experience Every TimeEach time we return to Ringside we have the same experience --- amazing! You combine the excellent food, the outstanding staff, great atmosphere .... and voila ... dining perfection!! Dining at Ringside never gets old.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLke steak? Got $$$$? Eat here.Ok it's not cheap. But the onion rings are deservedly famous. The dry aged NY steak I had was cooked perfectly. The baked potato with all the trimmings was the perfect complement. Others had medallions of filet, mashed potatoes - no complaints. Cocktails were old school as they should be. They had a Montrachet on the wine list which is unusual. The remodel is nice allows a little more light than previously but I gather most of the changes were in the kitchen - aging rooms etc. The wait staff is impeccably professional, helpful, friendly, only matched by wait staff in Vienna Austria. An expensive memorable meal in a pleasant welcoming environment. Reliably excellent. Try to dress up a little bit, make it an occasion. It's that kind of place.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOld school steal houseThis old school steak house does not disappoint. The food, staff, and ambiance exceeded our expectations. I was impressed with their wine list. Lots of great wines, including Shea, which is my favorite Oregon variety.
You want meat cooked to perfection, this is the place. For you lobster lovers, be sure to upgrade to the lobster mash potatoes. Delish!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Dining ExperienceI'd heard Ringside has the best steaks in town. That is true. What took me by surprise was what a magnificent place it is! In addition to a fabulous meal, we truly had a dining experience. The wait staff is superb in dress and in service. It was unforgettable. Also, Open Table made reserving a table a breeze!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOur favoriteWe have been coming here for special occasions for years. It was fantastic as always. We are never disappointed.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was good, attentiveEverything was good, attentive service and very good food. First seating was in the back where it was extremely loud; however, the hostess quickly found us another table. Good customer service.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways the best Steakhouse in PDXRingside never disappoints, the wine list and food is off the chart!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat SteakThe food was amazing. Everything we ordered was delicious. The aged steaks with bone were the best.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great. They haveThe food was great. They have the best onion rings. Worth evert penny6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDelight on BurnsideService was attentive and fun. Food was delicious and substantial. Valet parking wonderful. Everyone was so nice, in great moods and so helpful. We all enjoyed the evening. Thank you for the fun and memorable experience. What a delightful night.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAs usual, Great ExperienceNoticed that the batter for the onion rings has changed, wondering why?6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome experienceCame for a romantic birthday dinner and had a great time. We will be back for more delicious steak.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a treatBeen coming here for years and never been disappointed. Love the old steakhouse vibe - cozy and not overly loud like lots of newer trendy restaurants. The house salad is the best and steaks are always wonderful. Les is our favorite waiter and you won't find better service anywhere in Portland. Gotta have the onion rings! And don't miss the bananas foster - yum...5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and excellent serviceMade reservations for three of us for dinner on a Friday at 5pm. Upon arrival we were seated immediately. Our drink order was taken quickly and we were asked if we wanted an order of their famous onion rings which we said yes to. The food was served piping hot (be careful!) and was done just how we wanted it. It was a tad loud, but not so much that you couldn't have a conversation. All in all, a very nice dinner, however, $180.00, not including a tip, is a little on the expensive side for us. Great place for a special occasion.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMJust a great steak houseHave been going to the ringside for over Forty years. Still the best steakhouse in Portland.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMSandra's Birthday DinnerOur waiter [Steven B] did a great job providing excellent service [ always present at the right time ] his suggestions & ability to improvise were very much appreciated. The food was prepared just as we had requested & tasted better than anticipated. We will certainly make this a special dine out location. Had not been to the Ring Side in about 15 years & it sure convinced me to not let 15 years go by again.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticI love ringside, they always have great service and are very polite. I would recommend this restaraunt to anyone. Probably someone who isn't worried about springing for a more expensive quality meal. Overall I love this place and go there whenever there is something to celebrate. Usually with my boyfriend for special occasions ☺5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMHard to top this!A 45 yr Ringside diner and this last meal was about the best ever. Steak done perfect and my wife's fish was fresh and excellent. Karen was our waiter and she was very good to great in her service. Onion rings still the best!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThank youMy husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary. William, our waiter was gracious, charming and funny. He made our evening special. Thanks!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA Culinary Delight! We have never been disappointed while dining at the Ringside Uptown. The food is always excellent, the service is great and the wine list is extensive. Their prices are definitely competitive with other local high end restaurants, but the difference is that you can always be assured that the experience will be a culinary treat!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, but the price...My wife and I have gone to Ringside for a number of years. We love the food, the ambience, the service. Everything is top notch. But, we're rethinking about going there again. We're not extravagant people. We had a glass of wine, two beers, and our meal, which was the three-course meal. The bill came to $120. Now, we realize we weren't going to Red Robin, but that's a bit high for just two people. The cost is making us rethink whether it's worth going there. We love Ringside, just not the price.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Food, ServiceThe dining experience at Ringside is top-notch. Their selection and preparation is excellent, but this could be done anywhere. What sets them apart is the delivery. From the valet out front to the wait staff (not just a waiter) and the ambiance, the experience is just what you would expect for the price. This is proof that you get what you pay for. I recommend you visit at least once to indulge in a proper dining experience.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently great food and serviceOur waiter was very attentive with a great sense of humor. The food was fantastic. RingSide never disappoints.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectWhen you are looking for a meal to match the occasion, Ringside is the place!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOur FavoriteWe were seated immediately, the waiter and bus staff were attentive to us. The prime rib was delicious.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe BestI've been going to this place for special occasions for over 30 years. It's great food and good service has never changed.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMtoo much foodI took home at least half of my dinner. The slice of meat was DOUBLE the size I would eat. They should offer smaller portions even if the price is the same. We love the onion rings but 6 rings between us would have been a great starter. We could easily have shared a Cesar salad. We easily could have shared the prime rib & mash'd potatoes. At the Ringside it's the ambience you're paying for. The price for reduced size meals could easily be reduced by 1/4 & the Ringside still will make money (so a full-size dinner at $36 would cost $30). Diners must understand that fully 75% of the meal is service, NOT FOOD. Food's great, wine's great, but cost is heavily weighted on ambience & service, in addition to food.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's always a memorable experienceWe were delighted to sit in the newest section of the restaurant obviously designed for larger groups. The six of us were seated in a comfortable section, as a matter of fact, we were the first table filled. What a great experience for our other 4 companions who had never been to the Ringside. The onion rings were spectacular, our friends raved about the lobster soup and all of our entrees were perfectly cooked. The one thing we all raved about was how nice and hot our dishes were. Waiters timing and attention was impeccable. Everyone agreed that we need to make another visit to the Ringside soon to try out other dishes.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMdelicious foodwe booked a table at this restaurant according to other people's review online. It was the first time we went to a western restaurant alone( we are Chinese). It didn't disappoint us. We ordered a spring special two courses meal and a special three courses meal. Both are excellent.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent foodThe food was amazing along with our wine selection and the service was incredible. The members of the staff were very prompt and friendly and were willing to accommodate anything. When we needed warm water for a bottle, it was immediately brought to us, no questions asked. Will recommend to others.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner ExperienceDinner at the Ringside was very enjoyable as we celebrated our daughters birthday. The service and food was outstanding and they remembered her birthday and gave her any dessert she wanted. We go too the Ringsider for special occassion.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMService was exceptional. FoodService was exceptional. Food was fantastic. It was very busy being Mother's Day, but not reflected in the service given by William our waiter.
My mother is coming in from Nevada for my son's graduation and I will recommend she eat here.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in town! This is a special occasion place for us. The food and service are always top drawer. On this night I ordered the special: Cracked lobster, filet mignon w/black truffle oil and the usual sides. The best meal I've enjoyed for 2013. Having said that, each time we eat here is a memorable occasion. My wife ordered the two course special and was equally sated and happy. We're already looking forward to our next visit.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing steaks! The filet was fork tender, and absolutely delicious! The wine list is outstanding, and the sommelier is very knowledgeable.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMClassic SteakhouseThe Ringside is a classic steakhouse: richly finished interior, excellent beef, and the traditional sides. Service is attentive and efficient. Three of our party ordered the three-course menu with prime rib, which was an excellent value. The prime rib was outstanding: as good as any we've had. The fourth member of the party had a good though not exceptional rib steak. The Caesar salad was mediocre, while the gathered greens were very good. Desserts and sides were excellent. The wine list is comprehensive and reasonably priced by steakhouse standards. It quite likely is the best list in Portland. We had one person in a wheelchair and the entire staff was extremely helpful and welcoming to her.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentOnce again the RingSide met our expectation. Great food, great service and great wine list. This night was a bit noisier that other nights but I'm assuming that had to do with prom night. Still all in all it was another great experience.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMPrimo beef and onion rings,Primo beef and onion rings, what's not to like? Our waiter, Daniel R, was gracious and handled our wine corkage with courtesy and humor. We had a great evening with family and friends.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMy favorite restaurantI've been going there with my family for over 50 years. It never fails to impress. Excellent atmosphere and service and quality of food. Even though I have moved to another state, I still make it a point to make dinner reservations at the Ringside whenever I travel back to Oregon.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMClassic DiningIf you have not visited the Ringside recently (or at least since the remodel), make a reservation for dinner or stop by the bar for a classic cocktail. After nibbling on an order of onion rings, you can enjoy one of the famous steaks. In our case, the halibut was back on the menu and was delicious with an Asian spin on the presentation. I must say that the service was outstanding! Our server made the evening special with a great sense of humor and just the right amount of attention.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat steaks, bad chicken liversSteaks were great, my husband and our guests said might be the best they ever had. The asparagus side was perfectly cooked. The chicken livers however were overcooked, hard and dry, I should have had the steak.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentCouldn't have asked for a better dinner, waiter, or atmosphere. Loved it from start to finish!
OMG...the lobster mash was to die for...everything was fantastic.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a treat!Ringside is the place we always count on for the best steak in town. It comes to your table sizzling hot and has never fallen short. The atmosphere is luxurious; dark wood and brick. The way a steakhouse should be. Our special occasions are always spent at Ringside.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA part of PortlandRingside has always been a favorite of my wife and I. We typically visit for special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries It is a great happy hour stop if your in the area during the week. Food and Service is always the best.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMNEED BETTER SALAD DRESSING.I do NOT like your salad dressing and neither does my wife. I can't believe a restaurant as good as yours does not have roqufort or blue cheese dressing with the wedge salad!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMReturn to The RingsideWe returned to The Ringside after a 30 year hiatus. It has added on and gotten even better. Our waiter, Les, was perfect. He was there when we needed him and not there when we were deep in conversation. We were catching up with friends we had not seen in 25 years, lots to talk about. However, we still managed a large order of the world's best onion rings, fabulous steaks, fish and Oregon Pinot Noir selected by Les. Oh, and let's not forget the creme brulee!! The price was not low but, 30 years later I can now afford to splurge on this Portland landmark. Although I live near Seattle, I'll be back, perhaps in 30 days instead of 30 years.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous birthday celebrationFabulous birthday celebration with our family and outstanding waitress.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
