  • "A friend and I were in from out of town and found RingSide via Open Table. The reviews were spot on. This restaurant is great if you are looking for a nice quite place to enjoy a steak, a glass of vine, and finish the night off with a great glass of scotch. The service was impeccable too. I never ran out of water at the table and the server always knew when and when not to ask us how things were going. They also did not rush us out after we finished eating which was great for two friends who had not caught up in awhile. Bottom line; if you are in Portland and want a great meal, RingSide must be your destination."

  • "The Ringside has been open here since 1944. The menu is heavy with steak, seafood and chicken, as you would expect. The cuts are outstanding and the preparation was exactly as ordered. The wine list is huge, and covers all price ranges. Oddly enough, they also have the best onion rings in town, and most tables we saw had them as part of their appetizer course. The cocktails were very tasty, with some house specialties. There is nothing inexpensive about a meal for two here: My girlfriend and I had two appetizers and one good cocktail apiece, she had prime rib (which was perfect, down to the fresh grated horseradish) and I had a prime rib-eye with fresh asperagus. The bill, with tip, was about 200 dollars."

  • "Best steak I have ever eaten. This is a classic steakhouse that is perfect for a warm summer day. Enter the restaurant where it is dark and cool, feel the ambiance of that traditional formal restaurant. It feels like you are stepping back in time with the wait staff in formal dress and the linnens and place settings formal. The aged prime new York strip was very simply the best steak I have ever eaten. Seasoned and prepared to perfection, you could cut it with a fork (but didn't have to). I had mine medium and it remained incredibly tender. My associate had a rib eye with similar satisfaction. He raved about the lobster mashed potato."

  • "I took my boyfriend here for his birthday as it is his favorite restaurant. I am a vegetarian, and going to a steak house was not exactly something I was excited for. The service and the quality of the food more than made up for it. Our waitress was friendly, and seemed genuinely interested in us having a great experience. When she suggested the famous onion rings and we had to sadly decline due to budget, she gathered up a small sampling plate (4 rings) from the kitchen unprompted and unrequested! If that wasn't enough, she, or the restaurant, gave my boyfriend a delicious cheesecake dessert on the house. All of the food was, shut-your-mouth-no-small-talk-just eat, delicious. I'm still a vegetarian, and I'd go back in a heartbeat."

After being seated it was 15 mins before she even checked in with us and it was a slow night. When she did she lacked charm and polish you would expect for a $1000 dinner. Normally tip 20% but wanted to leave zero. Felt bad for those on her team."

  • "We chose the Ringside to celebrate our anniversary. The seafood sampler was as if the chef reached into the ocean that day and grabbed all the freshest morsels. Next course was our salad, my wife had finished her mix greens by the time I finished cutting up my Wedge! I guess her salad was good! my salad as it was on the small side. The final course was the steak. She had a 6oz filet-Blue. Rare to find a place that will serve their steak Blue. They nailed it! I enjoyed the 8oz filet with blue cheese crumbles melted on top. Every bite was better than the previous one. An absolutely fantastic dinner! William was our waiter and he made sure we were very well cared for on our special evening. Thank you Ringside!"

  • "I have been coming here for 55 years now, should have owned it by now! It has always been, and still is, THE place for fine dining, beef-centric though it might be. So many happy late night steaks,, slashing January rain outside, the lovely warm fireplace enhanced ambience in side. The service has always been superb, intelligent, sophisticated and friendly. Every visit I still occasionally make, even in my dotage, I feel like I'm revisiting old friends. And they make me feel I am an old friend. The 2010 renovation was brilliant; all the old atmosphere remains in, for me, a very happy space."

Everyone's steak was perfectly done, seasoned to perfection and very tender and savory. The waiter was young and needs to learn mire about both food and wine but he was very nice.   • "When making the reservation we had requested a quiet table for two. We were seated in the Barrel room which wasn't anything near quiet. We had the dry aged New York and Rib-eye (not dry aged). The steaks were good, not great...and the Rib-eye might have been a touch better, which was a little disappointing. Service was good, if a bit over exuberant. Good food, but we probably won't hurry back."

  • "We returned to the Ringside for our 32nd anniversary. Having lived down the street in 1979, we wanted to see if the classic and memorable onion rings were still up to snuff. They did not disappoint. Back then all we could afford were the rings and a beer. Although we have moved upscale and are able to afford dinner, the prices have gone up astronomically as well. The wine list is voluminous, 22 pages. We had the rings first with the house Thousand Islands with Bleu cheese on the side. Next was an excellent salad followed by prime rib for me and a small filet for my wife. Great Pinot from Oregon and a Columbia Valley Cabernet paired well. We finished with the crème brulee. All in all, well worth the drive down from Seattle."

  • "Did a great job with its remodel a few years back creating excellent ambience, high ceiling and quiet lighting. Couldn't be a better choice for special occassions. Beautifully done. Service was also excellent, the waiters perfectly attentive and personable. We had the Porterhouse for two. Don't mind the higher prices but do expect "prime" in return and don't think we rec'd it on this one. Good but not great. The rest of what was ordered was terrific."
