Diner Reviews
  • "Upon arrival, our server knew we all had the Living Social Coupons (there were 3 couples). When she came with the bill she said that she could only take a total of 2 of the coupons because we were a group of 6. We explained that we were 3 couples, which meant 3 bills- she was reluctant to do that for us. We talked to a manager - even she said it was at not their fault, but living social messed up the coupon, its the people above her fault, it that we are sitting as a party of 6 when we really were 3 couples having dinner together, that we are not at individual tables, etc) No where on the coupon does it say ant of this! Overall, it was just not very classy how they handled it. A lot of excuses that made us feel awkward!"

  • "I thought the portions were rather small for the price and was disappointed with my Margerita pizza as it was not hot. I expected it to be like Pizza Nea, but it was not. The crust was tasteless and more like a cracker. There was red color on the crust but no sauce or tomato taste detected. My husband was happy with the taste and temperature of his spaghetti and meatballs but was very disappointed in the small portion. It seemed that perhaps the pizza was made first and then sat there and cooled off completely while waiting for the spaghetti and meatballs to get done. For the cost of the meal I expected so much more!"

  • "It was my first time at Rinatas. Although my first impression was that it was small and tight, I never noticed it once my dining experience began. The food was excellent. Service was great. We will definitely go back!"

  • "The food was well prepared and the server was knowledgeable, but I would rate this restaurant as only having "potential". In other words, the effort is there, but it could be taken up a notch, specifically in terms of distinctive, predictable flavor profiles. Dishes tended to be over spiced or under spiced, indicating an issue in kitchen execution, not in the dishes as originally conceived."

  • "I've eaten here several times, and it's very hit or miss. The food is fantastic but staff can be awful. Most recently I made reservations for a table away from the windows, as Rinata is notoriously freezing. When we got there the hostess said "I saw your request, but its not that bad today" and sat us next to a window and a door, despite several open tables which would have met my request. It was freezing. Then our waitress comes. We order drinks and they don't come for a half an hour. Later, she asks if I'd like a refill on my coffee. I say yes. She says "just a minute," it never comes. The night continues, and our service worsens. In short, the service was beyond terrible and completely ruined the dining experience."

  • "If you're looking for an unassuming spot with exceptional food, neighborly elegance, and terrific service, Rinata is the hands-down choice. I crave the eggplant involtini on a weekly basis, and the rest of the dishes on their menu always feature fresh ingredients in unique and inspiring combinations. It's perfect for a quick bite alone or celebrating a special occasion with friends. No matter what brings you in, I trust Rinata will meet your expectations: They always exceed mine."

  • "if you are looking for the perfect date spot go here, good soft music, candles on the table . if you reserve with open table , request to sit by the window"

  • "We stumbled onto Rinata some years past and it has remained one of our favorite places to eat in the Twin Cities. We drive in from west Plymouth to eat there. We bring everyone we like. It is cozy, romantic, the service is always good and the food is simple but very interesting, and delicious. The wine is also very good. My adult kids have been going there with us since there were teens, and now take their friends there, too Don't change anything. And stay in business!"

  • "Every time we go to Rinata to eat, it's a great experience. The food is excellent. The service is wonderful. The atmosphere is inviting. We'll be back. Again and again."

  • "Food is very good and prices reasonable. They were understaffed and there was a hassle when the computer did not automatically drop the price of the wine by half for the Monday special- they had no idea what to do....."

  • "We were very disappointed by Rinata. Although we liked our server, she was the only server for the entire room! There were about 10 tables and she couldn't meet our needs. The menu was very limited, and did not offer many selections (especially in the fish or vegetarian category). The portions of pasta were extremely small and the risotto was so smokey tasting it was in edible. We had to go home to eat after our night out at Rinata...... On the positive side it had a warm and charming atmosphere."

  • "Saturday night's dinner fare was spectacular. All three dishes (Spinach/crab ravioli, the gnocchi, and spiced-walnut pasta) were devine. And thanks to Christy for the yummy petit syrah recommendation!"

  • "Great local dining option with high quality food and great service. Interesting food choices and preparations so not your hum drum italian neighborhood spot. If you haven't been there, definitely give it a try."

  • "I have yet to have a bad experience at Rinata. My boyfriend and I like to go on Sunday nights for the date night menu. Great value and amazing food! For the date night menu you receive a 4 course meal for $20. We have gone three times now and plan on returning with friends."

  • "It would be easy to walk right past Rinata's--it looks like an abandoned storefront from the outside. But then you would miss out on an awesome dining experience. There were four of us in our party and we decided to work our way through the majority of the menu, sharing bites of everything. Everything we had was fantastic, from antipastis to salads to our entrees. The bucatini and spinach ravioli were especially good. The pecorino pockets (app) were our least favorite. It was also surprisingly reasonable. For the four of us with multiple appetizers, entrees and desserts, plus cocktails and a bottle of wine it was only $200. We left happy!"

  • "Rinata is my favorite restaurant in uptown. The food is amazing! I've never been disappointed. Service is always good. Very fair price points too."

  • "I was a little shocked that when we arrived, the tables were sat very close together, and there was very little room about the place. However, it did not ruin the mood, and despite the cramped conditions, dinner was wonderful and service was good/great. Food-wise, the bread was fantastic. The squash ravioli was very sweet, and the shrimp fettuccine was pretty spicy. I wasn't a fan of the Manhattan cocktail, it was very heavy with the bitters. All in all, a great dinner, but not by any means my favorite spot in the city. Menu is sparse, it is really a spot if you're planning on wine and pasta."

  • "Everything from start to finish was perfect. They have a very good bean pattè proscioto bruschetta. The entrees were delicious and well portioned. Rather than places that over feed you, the portions are moderate. I would recommend to anyone looking for a modern flare of Classic Italian."

  • "I have loved this restaurant for years. It is the best Italian food in the twin cities as far as im concerned. This is not a hug restaurant and I am not the only one that loves this place. That said, make a reservation or you will wait for a long time at peak hours. Currently they have a Bruschetta with roasted Brussel sprouts that is simply amazing...you may not want to share after tasting it, so just order two."

  • "I always have a great meal at Rinata. The menu can be a little too funky for my personal taste but I manage to find something that fits my more conservative taste . Our waitress Christina was awesome!"

  • "We dined at Rinata with a generous gift cert we had received; the place was not quite what we had expected, as it is an old storefront converted to a restaurant, but it was cute enough. "Cozy" comes to mind. It was very cold out, and we were seated next to the front window, which was colder, but a couple of cocktails warmed us up. The server & service was very good. My wife had the lamb, which was excellent. I had cod, which was OK, but wouldn't order again, very plain. Had the baked Bulgarian Feta with roasted peppers & pepperoncini, which was absolutely fabulous...highly recommend. Good wine & cocktails, good service, nice ambiance, overall a fun little place in the Uptown area, but didn't like sitting by the windows on a cold day."

  • "This was only the second time we dined at Ranati's and both times the food and service were amazing. Love that they change up the menu and everything is made from scratch. The pecorino packets were delicious!"

  • "My husband and I went to the Loppet at Lake o'the Isles and wanted a little place to have dinner in beforehand. We were happy to find Rinata. I am Italian and am used to exceptional, authentic Italian food, so I can't say this met those expectations, but it was good. The atmosphere and the service could not have been better. The dishes were creative and many of them were handmade, but not authentic."

  • "The tomato soup was great, but you can't really screw that up. The pecorino pockets were good, but the truffle oil was too much. Got a pizza and pasta; while everything was good it just didn't have any satisfaction. Just like most ethnic restaurants in the Twin Cities, the food looks good but is usually comes up short on flavor."

  • "Very romantic place that is surprisingly charming, despite location and size. Service was prompt, food was out of this world good. I recommend the eggplant involtini to start, the lamb or the gnocchi main course and both the tiramisu and the chocolate lava cake for dessert. Delicious, and a cute place to spoil your date. Great for a spend meal for a special occasion."

  • "We had a dinner that surpassed expectations. The bread was served with olive oil and an olive tapenade, all very tasty. We also loved the gnocchi with brisket, a perfect dish for a cold night."

  • "We tried out Rinata, hoping to find a great Italian restaurant, and we weren't disappointed. Space is tight and reservations are needed if you want to eat at a reasonable time. The menu changes seasonally so we are already looking forward to going back in a few months. The gnocchi with braised beef was good and I highly recommend the roasted brussel sprouts bruschetta. Space is small, so it's not great for big boisterous parties like the one we encountered, which was the downfall of the night"

  • "Our server was outstanding. The good was great. I had the garlic chicken pizza abd would recommend it to anyone. My wife also raved about her butternut squash ravioli. The wine list is extensive. We're likely to return regularly."

  • "I took my girlfriend here to celebrate my move in after being apart for 4 months due to school. Everything--food, service and staff interaction--was fantastic. The only thing that was off was the music selection, which was a loop of the same few tunes recorded by various people, but hey, I don't expect that my musical rates will be accommodated at all times. At least the music fit the occasion--all Operas and Ballets (it's just that the recordings that were selected were so cheesy!)."

  • "I've been coming to this place since last summer, and Rinata has never failed to amaze me. The ambiance is lovely - it's cozy and intimate, but also open and lively. The staff has always been courteous and friendly, and their punctuality doesn't go unnoticed. They also check on you often to ensure your dining experience is exactly what you want, and personally, they've always made it right for me. However, their menu selections is what brings me back every time. They rotate their entrees periodically to keep it fresh, and the quality of the food is superb. My fave is the risotto w/smoked walleye and the gnocchi w/braised rabbit. Oh, and their 4-course dinner for date night on Sundays for $20 each? You can't beat that!"

  • "A nice cross between a neighborhood Italian comfort-food spot and a high-end Italian restaurant. The salmon I ordered (grilled, on a bed of spaghetti squash with a little beurre blanc beneath) was scrumptious, and my wife finished an entire serving of the gnocchi (she rarely finishes whole entrees). Try the White Bean and Pancetta soup as a starter - Tasty and warming for a cold winter's night. The wine list is small but more than adequate. A surprise was the ability to check "Kid-Friendly" -- They had a cheese pizza (and maybe more?) available for our young one, and she was quite happy as well."
