RiffsJohn Platt is just a greatJohn Platt is just a great chef and he has created a unique and consistently outstanding menu that is also reasonably priced. He even makes plank-grilled salmon interesting and tasting like the first good piece of salmon you have ever eaten. Riffs proves that you don't have to go to New York or spend a fortune for truly first-class food in a trendy (but thankfully NOT NOISY) environment.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA Birthday TreatWe celebrated my brother's 50th Birthday at Riffs......it was so fun and uplifted. The five of us shared maybe 7-8 small plates and 2 of their "big plates" ( which is a nice size, not too much). All had a chance to try a variety of great dishes, we loved the Brussel Sprouts, the Wings special was incredible! They have a really nice local beer list. The noise was a bit much, not conducive for deeper conversations......but the food and service were great. They gave my brother a complimentary dessert for his Birthday.......we also had a few more desserts...all as good as the main meal offerings. The price was extremely reasonable for such good food. We would go back anytime!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is always so greatThe food is always so great at riffs. Love this place. BUT the cauliflower is not on the menu anymore or any soup.... Sad.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWant to go back for more.It was very hard to choose what to order. There are so many good looking options on the menu. We found the price very reasonable, considering the excellent food quality and Pearl Street location. A nice dinner for two was under $100, including cocktails, dessert and gratuity. Despite the touristy location, it is very "Boulder" (one of their best sellers is brussel sprouts, yummy) and definitely designed to attract local repeat diners. The open kitchen is effective too and one of the chefs walked over to help me make my choices. Nice personal touch. Would definitely recommend.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSo good, we went back!Excellent! Unable to get reservations at the "top rated" Boulder restaurants, we tried Riffs, & were so happy we did! We enjoyed everything about it--from the maitre d', to the service to the superb dishes we chose. Even with so many choices in Boulder, we returned to Riffs on our way back through town. Can't say enough about it--we will absolutely be back!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great eveningRiff's was the Boulder find we'd been seeking! Contemporary furniture and cool atmosphere make a restaurant not. Unlike so many other restaurants in the city that seemingly rely on their interior designers to create their image, Riff's takes it all a step further. Each item on this sweet little menu is a foray into greatness - a truly pleasurable experience. I was most excited to share this place with our out-of-town folks and, Riff's, you presented a winner yet again. Chef John Platt and his team of artisans - both in the kitchen and on the floor - are the model for how it should be done! Thanks to you all for a wonderfully wonderful birthday dinner! (Note - I only sound this dramatic when I truly mean it!)5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMRiffs is right onWe had dinner at Riffs with friends and found a great restaurant that we will return to again and again. The food was perfectly executed and the menu was varied and vibrant. The service and staff were helpful and friendly. Well done!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful as UsualRiff's has become one of my favorite restaurants in Boulder. Great food, service and ambience!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMUnexpectedly great serviceGreat staff took care of us as do the very best. Small plate dining at its finest in Boulder5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMTotally fantasticWe are spoiled in Boulder with many fine restaurants and chefs, but John Platt has hit a home run with this restaurant. Having had several lunches and dinners there I have found the quality completely consistent whether or not John is cooking. Very creative menu - anything with crab meat is highly recommended. Great desserts. Can't say enough good things...5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMRiffs on Riff'sA bit noisy, but not too bad, good service, pleasent environment.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome burgerThe best burger in town- order without a bun and choose salad for a truly primal meal. Wish it was completely grass fed beef, though!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and Fun!Riffs never disappoints! Great food and a fun atmosphere. And the Brussel Sprouts are to die for! (And we don't even like Brussel Sprouts)!! This is our favorite restaurant in Boulder!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMNice Pearl Street LocationThis is only the second time my wife and I have eaten at Riffs, but it won't be the last. Though we've lived in Boulder for over five years, we still like to visit Pearl Street Mall and "people watch." This time we were going to a play and stopped at Riffs for an early dinner. We had reservations and were seated promptly at a table that was to our liking. The food was excellent. My wife had the steak - which she said she would definitely order again - and I had the fried chicken and biscuit - which was delicious. Riffs was offering a wine special: 40% off on a very nice Chardonnay. It was a while between courses, however, we had plenty of time so we didn't mind. Service was quite good, even though the restaurant was very busy on a Friday.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMRiffs-wonderful food/fanastic value4 of us enjoyed a great evening at Riff's May 1st for my birthday. The fish was fresh and the soup du jour outstanding. The wine list was very reasonably priced. We all felt that Riff's was top drawer!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWent on a Friday night, greatWent on a Friday night, great energy about the place. Food was quite good, more upscale than I thought it would be.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server Cat was great. Our server Cat was great. She recommended great wine and was right on with food recommendations! We went back the next night for wine and dessert.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting and certainlyInteresting and certainly different - but not spectacular with limited wine list. The service was pretty poor on the (Sunday) evening we were there. But! Will probably go back some time, maybe.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMYummy! This was my third time at Riffs, and it is consistently delicious! The food is innovative and fresh. I had the organic greens with the powdered vinaigrette, and it was awesome. For an entree I had the short rib ravioli over greens. The greens were a little over salted , but not enough to detract from the ravioli goodness. We had apple crisp for dessert, which was scrumptious, and since it was my birthday, it was on the house! Great food, great service, and great restaurant!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA repeat great experienceEver since I discovered Riffs I am going back on a regular basis. Far from being cheap, the food is reasonably priced for the quality, the portions are human (more European sized) and the food itself is of great quality and the menu is innovative in a way.
I like the limited menu both for food and wine. As far as the wine is concerned, simply chose the varietal you want - you can't go wrong with any of those on the list.
patrick bols - wish we had something similar in Fort Collins4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent ambiance - greatExcellent ambiance - great place for romantic dinner in a booth, or a fun evening with friends. Food is great and very reasonably priced.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it here...great for vegetarianLove it here...great for vegetarians ...love the HH veggie menu....4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food in a beautifullyAmazing food in a beautifully decorated low-key dining environment! Will be back again and again and again...!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMTry It, You'll Like It!Loved the menu, very tasty food and excellent wait service! I'm going to become a regular.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious Food Fusion in BoulderIf you're looking for fusion, you've come to the right place with Riffs. Everything from the Pea Hummus, to the Chicken Tortilla soup, and finishing with the Mango Rice Pudding was delicious. Boulder is filled with restaurants where the same "feel good" atmosphere can be felt, and Riffs is no different. However, if you want to really experience the fusion of different foods coming into each dish you order, go to Riffs and enjoy the experience. You won't be disappointed!!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceThe food was fantastic. I highly recommend the chicken and biscuit. Delicious! Great friendly service, timely and paid attention to detail.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place. Give it a tryGreat place. Food was fabulous. Varied menu. Waitstaff was very friendly but service was sketchy-took forever to get bread after requesting it. The server even stopped by at one point halfway through eating to say the bread would be arriving soon. Really? Bread? How long can it possibly take? No refill on coffee unless you request it, but again, everyone was SO nice it hardly mattered. It has that fun but disorganized feeling.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMgood, as always. all itemsgood, as always. all items (five of us) were spot on.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOur favorite new spotWe have been to Riffs several times in the last year. The Happy Hour menu is extensive and offers diverse choices from roasted Brussels sprouts to one of the best burgers in town. The atmosphere is "active Bistro," the staff friendly and the prices encourage frequent visits. We never tire of going there and are always glad that we did.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe made a full dinner forWe made a full dinner for four out of several of their "small plates." Every dish was wonderful, especially the brussel sprouts, duck confit and short rib ravioli. The "dazed and confused" cocktail is not to be missed if you like ginger. It was a slow night, so I don't know what the service would be like if it were busy, but our server was very attentive, good natured and great with suggestions.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AM****we went with friends food service all great. food a little rich but enjoyed a variety of appetizers and main courses. Everything tasted great except I think less is more--and they could take out an ingredient or two from their dishes so their not quite so heavy. Prices were very reasonable.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, easy to shareGreat food, easy to share menu items because of small plates. Happy Hour is very nice!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always enjoy an eveningWe always enjoy an evening at Riffs. Attentive staff, delicious food, in small portions, Yea!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMChef John Platt has put togetherChef John Platt has put together an amazing menu. The sautéed leeks with crab was out of this world.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great dinner, startWe had a great dinner, start to finish and it didn't cost a fortune! Appetizers, main course and desserts were all terrific.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
